ArtI WANT TO ADOPT FROM DAWNFLAME!Number:Eight
Name: Mont
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown
Bio/story: Run. Faster. Harder. More. That's all she ever thought about.
Run. Go. Now. Fast. Mont could hear the gunshots of the men chasing behind her. She was the last left of her family. The hunters had the heads of every family member she had on their walls. They wanted one more.
Mont tripped over a log and tumbled partly down the mountain into a patch of snow. She watched carefully as the hunters passed the mound of snow hiding her. Shooting out of the snow, Mount raced the other direction. But she knew the hunters would find her again. They always did.
-Timeskip-
It went on like that for weeks and weeks until she came to a huge body of water. She couldn't see the other side.
Go. Run. Hide. Now. With a determined look on her face, Mount plunged into the freezing water. She swam and swam, stopping at the occasional deserted island. The islands where cold and barren, packed with hard dirt and with some snow and ice.
Mont didn't know how long she swam doing this. It could have been days, weeks, even. Finally, there was a huge strip of land in the distance. To large to be an island. Excited, she plunged back into the water and swam as hard as she could. Her long fur swayed in the ice cold water, and her strong legs paddled furiously.
Swim. Faster. Harder. Go. When she finally reached the land, she was exhausted.
Barley able to walk, she stumbled over to a nearby cave. It sheltered her from winds for cold they'd make your heart stop. Nestled in the back of the cave, Mont fell asleep, finally having a night's rest without the hunters haunting her dreams.
Mont's eyes creeped open. Light was flooding in the cave entrance.
Up. Go. Run. Hide. Then she remembered. She was free of the hunter's haunting wrath, she was free of the gunshots that rang in her ears, the constant fear of being hit.
She trotted out of the cave slowly, happy to be free.
If I'm not on the run now, I need my own den. She looked out and around to see she was at the foot of a huge mountain.
I can do it! It took a while of climbing, but she finally did it. She reached almost to the top and found a cave. Her cave. It was small, but perfect. She made herself a nest in no time.
Tired by another long journey, though this one nothing compared to others, she curled up and went to sleep.
Mont felt a prod in her side. "Who do you think it is?" young voice said. Startled, Mont immediately sat up. Two Ajiro kits sat staring at her. "Who are you?" one said.
"Mont. Where did you come from?" Mont asked. Was there more of them?
"Follow us!" Mont followed to two energetic kits to a huge cave not far from her's. Ajiro's were everywhere, sleeping, eating, play fighting, mothers nursing cubs. "Wow." she whispered. That was the first word she'd said in a very long time.
Mont felt herself being pushed along by the two kits to a handsome mountain ajiro who seemed to be the leader. "Hello. What can I do for you?" he said. "I'm Crest."
"I'm Mont. And I don't know what you can do for me. I just kind of got here." Mont said, flicking her tail to the two kits to show they brought her hear.
"Well, we sure do need a few more Mountain Ajiros here. There are only two, and they hunt the best. Maybe you want to join us." Crest said.
The thought that she wouldn't be alone anymore made her happier yet. "I've lived alone since I was a kit. Hunters tried to hunt me down like others in my family." she explained. "What would I be doing here and what would I be offered?" she said.
"You'd have food, shelter, and a family." Crest said.
"I guess I could give it a try." She said. "Where do I nest?"
"Follow me." Crest led her to a gathering of nests, and a few spaces where open. "Take any you like." and he walked away.
Mont was shocked by the sudden change in her life. She made herself a nest and helped with the daily hunting. in her new nest that night, she thought of something.
A new nest for a new life.-One year later-
Mont was happy with the way this new life turned out to be. She was happy, healthy, well fed, and had friends who loved.. Not to mention a special someone who gave her a little more love. Mount looked from the two squirming kits at her belly to her mate. "I'm happy I joined with you guys a year ago." Mount said.
"I am too." Crest said. He curled around her. Mont couldn't be happier. She had a good life now. She had a family again. And she wasn't running.
Crest will have a form later!
