Re: The Semi-Literate & Literate Roleplayer's Club (V2)

First person is written from the point of view of the character, like "i woke up and brushed my teeth."
Second person is usually seen in those pick your ending sort of books, where the author addresses the reader with "you woke up and brushed your teeth."
Third person is most-used in fiction books, the usual "mary woke up and brushed her teeth."

        Does this make sense? cx

I'M LOOKING FOR A ONEXONE ;; okay so i've always been interested in peter pan (fun fact: specifically the lost boys) and recently, ie today, i made a character that i would really like to roleplay. i made her without any connections to any roleplay or anything, except that i really liked the concept of this image i had in my head and wanted to make that image into a person. i did and, thus, said person can be found here. now i've made her i would really, really, like to roleplay her with a specific plot in mind. i won't detail the plot here (because i don't want to waste anyone's time unless your definitely interested in knowing more) but will give a few bits of information out. it'll be a high semi-lit/low literate roleplay: four/five paragraphs, consisting of nine-ten lines, each post, mainly focusing on character development and description - with some plot development entwined throughout. it'll have a feathery feel to it: now i know that sounds a bit weird but hear me out - i want it to have a very light, alice in wonderland/peter pan/narnia feel to it, hinting at magical elements but never really exploring them (unless we think it would further the plot), and also the characters to be just as flawed as those portrayed in fairy tales. i want it to be steady and not die etc. etc.: i think this is quite obvious but i also would like to point out that whilst i want it to be active i might not be able to post every single day and i would like a partner who understands that. romance won't be primary: it will be there, yes, but won't be the aspect on which the roleplay focuses. i think that's everything you really need to know but i don't know but i have a plot so if interested pm me or respond on here, etc.

i understand the concepts, yes. but.. it's the writer. my god.
(i basically meant; who says that "he did this"? surely everything must be first person but slightly different because air doesn't say "he did this", right..? but then the air would be first person but just telling the story of someone else? which probably only makes sense to me...)

Aye u.n.i I think I understand you - but I always like to think of it in the way that the writer doesn't qualify as a person in their own story. The writer is not a separate character.

i think we're dealing with omniscient third person here
that means that the narrator, whoever he or she is, knows the thoughts of other characters and such.
it can also happen in the other povs.
as opposed to a guy who just states facts.
i.e., "he brushed his teeth"
or "he brushed his teeth considering his morning"
the second one has an omniscient narrator.

or, you know the percy jackson series? that's not an omniscient narrator. it's first person.
however, the city of ember is an omniscient narrator. it's third person omniscient.

i think i've totally missed the point but

In third person, the writer is an invisible entity looking on from the outside, not a character. Think about the fourth wall in a movie or TV show or the audience in a play. You're looking in on the entire scene from the outside.
In second person, the writer is still an invisible entity, but this time instead of looking at the whole picture, they're just looking at one person. Think about a video game, where your camera is outside but always fixed on the protagonist- you don't see the whole picture, just what one person is doing.
And in first person, the writer is looking out from inside the protagonist. Think of it as first person shooter game, like Halo.
Much like in most video games, the "camera" never plays a role of it's own. It's just there, watching, exerting a quiet force of control that the characters are unaware of.

VOILA! IN VIEW A HUMBLE VAUDEVILLIAN VETERAN CAST VICARIOUSLY AS BOTH VICTIM AND VILLAIN BY THE VICISSITUDES OF FATE. THIS VISAGE, NO MERE VENEER OF VANITY, IS A VESTIGE OF THE VOC POPULI, NOW VACANT, VANISHED. HOWEVER THIS VALOROUS VISITATION OF A BYGONE VEXATION STANDS VIVIFIED AND HAS VOWED TO VANQUISH THESE VENAL AND VIRULENT VERMIN VANGAURDING VICE AND VOUCHSAFING THE VIOLENTLY VICIOUS AND VORACIOUS VIOLATION OF VOLITION! THE ONLY VERDICT IS VENGEANCE; A VENDETTA HELD AS A VOTIVE, NOT IN VAIN, FOR THE VALUE AND VERACITY OF SUCH SHALL ONE DAY VINDICATE THE VIGILANT AND VIRTUOUS. - v, v for vendetta

Idea:
A semi-lit+, preferably literate roleplay set in a medieval time period with pre-made characters + personalities (e.g. the foreign Prince, the rebellious Princess, the faithful Guard, the sly Thief, the bitter Maid, and so on). Relationships, for example, would be like the expected Prince/Princess arranged marriage but the Princess is actually interested in one of her guards instead; yet the Maid, who's harbored an attraction toward the Guard for a long time, is determined not to let them get together and thus does all she can to keep them apart.

Anyone interested? I'll make more characters and also think of plenty more relationships like this.

i'd be up for this as well! n_n

favorite type of rp: young adult romance roleplays with interesting plots, post-apocalyptic roleplays
roleplay sample: The young man had a ghastly look about him, slate-green eyes tired and glazed, skin waxy and grey which stood out against his dark stubble. There was a ominously unstable aura about him, and his mental state went hand-in-hand with his physical appearance; it was apparent in his body language, from trembling hands to darting eyes to the thin layer of glistening sweat on his skin. Henry hadn't had a breakdown like this in almost a year, but while in a new living environment for his temporary stay over the summer and having no medication on hand for almost a week, it was quite understandable he would eventually snap, especially with a disease as serious as his. Suffering from schizophrenia, his mind had much trouble deciphering fiction from reality, auditory and visual hallucinations frequenting his brain. He could feel one coming on from his severe headache and nausea as he glanced at the doorway from the rickety wooden chair he sat in from the corner of the cabin. He noticed a familiar male figure silhouetted from the bright grey sunlight creeping through the entrance of his rental home. The man paced towards Henry slowly, silent except for his light footsteps. Henry recognized him as the man who he had run into several times before; the man had haunted him with no particular reason, but Henry knew something was wrong each time he had seen him in a different place. The man was a reminder of his disease, trailing behind him like an animal needing to be fed. Henry felt his heart race and his mind spin as the mysterious figure stopped in front of him, smiling softly as they held eye contact for what seemed like minutes. Henry's breath came in shallow waves. He couldn't tell whether or not the man was real, or if anything in the room was real at all, even if where he was was real. It was all overwhelming for him, but he finally managed to find speech. "No," he breathed in a low voice that trembled from his severe panic attack. He tried to clear his mind and finally relaxed himself with breathing techniques. "You're not real." Henry kept this thought circulating in his mind repeatedly, and the man finally dissolved into nothingness. Henry had won. Filled with relief and tiredness, Henry slumped back in his chair, his thoughts thick and clouded from the aftermath of his attack, realizing he needed to get to a hospital.
