It was like the assessment all over again, except this time instead of one pair of majestic eyes on his pelt there would be thousands and one would ultimately change his life forever. It was like heading to a battle unprepared, his paws tingled with unspent energy and his chest throbbed with nervous anxiety. Meeting with The Queen had been one of the most nerve wracking and fulfilling moments of his life - the day he uttered those sacred words that bound his soul to the royal family forever and the day he lost his curl in his tail. Keego took a deep breath and walked out from behind the curtains and was inwardly shocked to see so many lifeforms gathered below the Altar. His heart leaped up to his throat, pounding painfully but not from fear but excitement.

His strides were calm and careful as the light pelted warrior stepped to the front, meeting the eyes of The Queen seated in the front row. Blue eyes met his, glittering with happiness and support for the warrior, filled with emotions - like a mother sending off her son to a better future. He felt tears well up behind his eyes and he didn't bother with wiping them away as they dripped from his face. All the spectators should know how hard it was for a Faerre to leave their homeland - doubly hard for one such as a warrior to leave Vinara and The Queen behind. So they shouldn't mind the tears, they shouldn't mind the only rare moment of weakness a Faerre warrior like him allowed to show.

As his muzzle open, his voice was leveled and strong. "Dear creatures, I thank you for coming to the Altar today." Brown pupils glanced over the area, sizing up the different strengths of the beings gathered below. "I am known as Keego and I am a warrior ready to lend my strength to another." the Faerre drew out the sword and swung it in an impressive chain of moves before skillfully sheathing the blade again. "Under one condition,"

The visitors beneath the Altar seem to take in a soft breath, waiting anxiously.

"If you wish for me to come with you, prepare to show me your resolve. Reveal your purpose through action - and show me, a warrior, why I should choose you. I wish you luck."

Keego will be judged in 7 days, June 27th, 2013, HK Time

~ Talit ~

Run.
It was the only thought that lingered in the child's mind.
Her bare feet hit off the muddy ground below, leaving perfect imprints with every step. Her long, ginger hair whipped her face as she ran, blue eyes catching every movement. That's when the sound came- Oh, that terrible sound. The thudding of horses hooves grew louder, and soon the figures came into shape.
"Oh Kyran, no."
For the first time in her life, real fear crossed the girls face. Four men, each riding huge, sleek black horses, seemingly never to grow tired. "There she is!" the leader of the group yelled, his hand reaching down and grasping a sword hilt, pulling it out of it's sheath. It glinted silver in the sunlight, the rubies encrusted shining brightly.
"Leave me alone! It wasn't me!" the red-head screamed, her hands moving automatically and grasping the bow dangling from her waist. Her other hand swung over her shoulder, feeling for the satchel of arrows. The cold metal hit her fingers and they closed around it, pulling ti over her shoulder in a flash. The girl expertly placed the arrow against her bow, raising it to her side and letting it shoot across the distance between her and one of the soldiers, who had moved up to cut her off.
An agonized shriek filled the air as the arrow hit the horse. It buckled and it's rider was thrown to the floor, crushed beneath his dead horse. A second rider stopped to help his companion, the two others pursuing the girl without hesitating once, even as a second arrow whizzed past.
Tears poured down the filthy stained face of the child as she stumbled to place another arrow. But she dropped it in her hurry, and the next thing she knew she was on the ground, her shoulder having been hit with a sword. Her bow lay just out of her reach, her only weapon the three arrows left in her satchel. Desperately she grasped one, tossing it towards one of the men who had dismounted his horse. He gave a laugh and strode towards the helpless girl.
"There's no escape for you, fool," he hissed. The girl watched him through pleading eyes, silently praying to her God, Kyran. Once the soldier reached her, she closed her eyes, pulling her leg back and booting the man.
The man stumbled back, slightly dazed for a moment. The girl seized her chance and shuffled back, grasping her bow and an arrow. Expertly, she shot it. It hit the man and he crumpled.
She looked around, expecting the fourth rider to leap at her. But he was nowhere to be seen- he had fled when his Leader had been killed.
Using her uninjured arm she tore a piece of her shirt and tied it around her wound like a bandage. She sat there; Whether for seconds or for hours, she didn't know. Finally she heaved herself up, jumping violently when she heard a horse neigh. Her first thought was that the soldiers were back, and was relived to see it was only the sleek horse of the recently killed soldier. She approached it and held out a hand, stroking his soft muzzle.
"Were on out own now. You'll help me, won't you?" she whispered quietly. The horse nickered, nuzzling her hand in search of food. The girl laughed gently, and holding her bow tightly, she mounted the horse with difficulty.

--

The sun shone calmly, birds singing gently in the trees. The girl and her horse trotted gently through the trees, the little breeze making the hot day seem perfect. Both horse and rider were clean and well-fed, thanks to her skill at making arrows and archery. The girl could hunt, and drink from the streams. The horse could graze on the lush grass. The girl had taken to chatting to her horse, which she had named Iyan. She had removed the armor and sold it, as well as washing off the painted symbols which marked horse as royalty. She was just starting to talk about finding shelter for the Winter when she came across large, shining gates.
The girl silenced immediately and Iyan sensed his masters unease. He, however, sensed nothing that could cause a threat and proceeded to trot on. The girls grip on the reins tightened anxiously as her horse moved on steadily. The wind ruffled the leaves of the many bushes and trees lining the path. Soon, the sound of voices came into earshot. They sounded excited. The girl dug the spurs into her horse, urging him to move faster. As their pace picked up, a dark oak stage came into view. She squinted, trying to make out the strange looking creature standing upon it. The crown was suddenly silent, and the creature began to speak.
"Dear creatures, I thank you for coming to the Altar today. I am known as Keego and I am a warrior ready to lend my strength to another."
Keego...
This creature was so much like the soldiers, but somehow different. It was like he was inviting her to speak to him, urging her to forget her terrifying chase. But of course, the creature would know nothing of her past. Dismounting, she patted her horse and moved to the front of the crown, hand stroking the handle of her bow- just in case.
Her pale eyes scanned the beautiful brown and white pelt, mesmerizing every dark mark. She stepped up onto the stage, approaching Keego carefully, as a cat might approach a dog.
Greetings," she said quietly when she felt she had gotten close enough, making sure there was about a meter space in between her and the Warrior.
"My name is Talit. I notice you are a Warrior, skilled with a sword. I, myself, am skilled with the Bow and Arrow." Talit paused, unease playing in her eyes and across her face as she debated on what to tell the strange creature.
"I stumbled upon your land by accident, while escaping a patrol of Warriors sent by the King of my homeland," she said finally, taking a small step back in case this Warrior decided she was a criminal of some sort, to have been fleeing from Warriors of her own kind.
I was accused of trying to murder my brother. He was poisoned and I was the main suspect, me being the only family he had. He was to become to Leader of the King's Army. They thought I killed him from jealously, but I was innocent. I am innocent."
She paused to catch her breath, tears welling up in her eyes.
"My name has been spread among my homeland, I am Wanted for a crime I never committed. I only have my bow to fend myself, but I fear I will run out of Arrows soon enough. I want to travel away from here, to find a place where I can be free once more. But I get lonely with only my horse for company.
So, I want to ask you. Would you like to travel with me, and teach me to wield a sword? In return, I can give you shelter, food and company. I don't know if I can trust you, Keego... But I would like to try."

Every word was quiet, shared with only Keego. Her pale eyes brushed over his pelt once more and she gave a faint smile.
"Good luck in your journey, Keego. I know it is hard to leave home- but at least you have a choice."
With a flickering smile, she turned and walked away.

I walked into the strange village. My tail was held high. Strange, fox-like creatures
scurried out of the way as electricity sparked from my feet whenever they touched the
ground. I felt some what self conscious, but I kept going. In the center of the village,
a bell sounded. Creatures of all kind pushed and shoved in an attempted to get in.

"He's so elegant," a small voice said to my right. I looked down at the small creature next
to me. The smallest grey fox I had ever seen was next to me. Her sky blue eyes were wide.
Whatever she had seen, it left her nearly speechless. She didn't even seem to mind the way
her tail bushed with the static of being near me.
"What is?", I asked in confusion. I cocked my head to the side in confusion.
"Keego!", she exclaimed. Several creatures shot glares at her, before going back to gawking
at the faerre. "I wish I could get in there," she said. Her tail drooped. I felt bad for the poor
thing. It was clear that she was young and maybe even lonely.
"Follow me," I sighed. Why was I always the fear invoking one? The one that needed a friend
but only got nervous followers? I shook my head and took a step forward. A path was quickly
cleared and the little fox followed right behind me. She didn't seem in the least bit scared of me.
If anything, she seemed excited.

Once we were inside, she looked up at me with smiling eyes. "I'm Kasa," she said. Her voice cracked
with excitement. I dipped my broad head in greeting. Lightning bolt patterns rippled across
my grey fur.
"I'm Omnimus." She nodded as if the name were completely normal. Her grey fox whipped back
and forth in an over joyed manner. "Let's go talk to Keego," I suggested. She nodded
over-enthusiastically. We walked onto the stage together. She bounded slightly ahead of me. Her
lean body snaked easily through the others. Yet, when I followed others recoiled at the thought
of being electrocuted or crushed by me. On the stage with Keego, I didn't freeze up like some
animals or people would.
"Hi!", Kasa squeaked. She quivered with so much pent up energy I thought it impossible that it
could be contained to such a small body. I ran my long tail down her spine to soothe her, careful
not to let my electricity shock her.
"I am Omnimus, this is Kasa," I told the faerre. I squared my shoulders in a protective way,
letting my shadow fall over the grey fox. Kasa quivered next to me. She looked like a static puff
ball, and her huge sky blue eyes starred excitedly at Keego. An image appeared above my head,
maybe purely of electricity. It showed everything I had done recently, starting with when I walked
into this village and ending with Kasa and I walking up onto the stage. Then, I took a step back for
Kasa to have her turn. She didn't show him anything amazing. Instead, she pulled out a polished rock
and showed it to him.
"Heroes never die, great stories are never forgotten," she read aloud. The words seemed to
calm her. Her tail swished calmly back and forth, her blue eyes seemed deeper and sadder. Her eyes
told a better story then any image. She sat down and starred directly into his eyes. Even from
only seeing the corner of her eyes, I could witness what was going on. Images from her point
of view flowed into her eyes. Her mother licked her head, she took her first steps, a flood swept away
all she loved and knew leaving only her and her brother, her brother turning on her with fire in his eyes,
them fighting and him falling off a clift, her wandering hopelessly through the forest. The love and
pain and fear were so fresh and raw I felt them as my own. She had more power than I had realized
and had experience more hurt than I ever would. When she had finished, we walked together back into
the crowd. She starred up at Keego, her clear blue eyes with their normal excited shine. Even if Keego
didn't leave with me, I knew I owed it to Kasa that I would.
