I was thinking about splitting it up based on different days of the week, but that seems like too much of a hassle for the artists. It would mean if they missed their day they would have to wait another week before designing one.
I was thinking about giving the artists longer spans of time, but then it would take other artists even longer for their day(s) to come.

Hmm. I'd say, ask each artist which day of the week they are able to do one, and then one space runner must be uploaded on that day every week. The artist has the whole week for the space runner, but it should be uploaded on that date. If they know they cant do a lot on that day for some reason, they can still do it the whole week and only upload it on said day.
I'd be pretty okay with that system, as an artist. But what do you think?
