You need to write a lot more than that, Moon. ^.^ Just like the form says, the background must be a minimum of 500 words. :3

Postby The Lion King » Sat Jul 24, 2010 6:39 pm

Totally beautiful...O-O

Kennel: 1 Image
Name: Gypse
Breed: Fey Lion
Age: 29 (Human Years)
Why do you want this animal?&What will you do for this animal?: I was totally hooked with the design on this one. I must admit I am a total addict when it comes to adopting designs, and characters, but I don't adopt just to adopt. I have a story idea, a place in my circle of characters for each one. I have a great idea for her place with my characters. I am currently in the works of building my character site with all of my stories, art, etc. and making detailed refs for each of them. I assure that she shall be taken care of and not forgotten.
Personailty: Gypse has a very motherly, mature personality. Many times she chooses to ruled by commonsense over her heart. Many times she is very respectful to someone of authority or simply someone she does not know well. She seems pompous at times, especially if one does not know her quite well.

Gypse is one that respects the rules, but she is also one that tends to bend them slightly. In wrong, she will take responsibility for her own actions and will not throw someone under the bus to get out of trouble. Because she has a great respect for authority she will take a punishment maturely and will not complain.

She does not like to show her sadness, and tries to to seem calm at most times. When angered, Gypse uses her sharp tongue and words in a mature manner to argue with the other person. She normally has a thick skin and does not wish to be angered easily as she could. She is also very prone to jealousy and can become irritable when she is suffering from it.

Dislikes&Likes:
Likes: Star gazing, summer nights, wild berries, afternoon breezes, lazy mornings, and late nights
Dislikes: The heat of summer, rainstorms, insects, hunting, humidity, over cast nights, waking up early, being cooped up in the house all day.

Histroy/Backround:{5000 max,500 min}

They say when a star falls from the heavens it can take on a variety of different shapes and forms. Depending on who has wished on that star and the wish they asked, decides this. It is also said, that once a star lands on Earth, its mission is to find whomever has wished upon it. For they are there to fulfill a wish, something so precious that no one else can perform this task. It is a stars’ dream to do so, and they compete amongst each other to be the first star in the inky night sky for the better chance of being wished on. Even so, the chances of them shooting downwards are very slim. A star can only fall if someone in real need wishes upon them. Wishes like these have become rare, but there is still that one person who wishes with their heart. Here is where our story begins, with a young girl and a powerful wish.

A small girl slowly walked to her window just as the moon was beginning to rise up into the darkening sky. Her white nightgown blew in the wind that came through the window as she slowly pushed it open. Once open, the girl, named Elisa, placed her elbows on the windowsill and kneeled on her cold, stiff floor.
Elisa had picked tonight out of all the other nights because the moon would be the fullest and there would be more stars in the sky. The stars were her real reason for doing this anyhow. She had read in some fairy tale books found in her father’s library that if you wished on a star that fell to Earth, your wish would be granted. It went on to list the best nights for wishing and stated that even though it was rare, it was not impossible.
Excited, Elisa tried to show it to her father. As usual, he didn’t even gaze up from his work and mumbled, “Hmm…that’s nice sweetie. Father is working now, so you best run along.” Dejected, Elisa left his study, but she was determined to show him.
Now as she stood at the window she gazed up into the now indigo sky twinkling with hundreds of thousands of stars surrounded by a shining moon. All the stars seemed to be competing for her attention, but there was one star in particular that captured Elisa’s fancy.
Off to the right, above the forest, there was a dainty looking star that called to her. It wasn’t the brightest, nor the biggest, but something about it made Elisa choose this very star to wish upon. She squinted her eyes shut, folded her hands, and then wished her hardest, “Please star…please bring me a friend, someone to play with. Someone who won’t ignore, dismisses, or rejects me. Someone who is loyal, fierce, clever, and forgiving. Someone who will stay with me forever…..please…..”
Elisa opened her eyes to see her star grow brighter, and brighter while zooming through the sky only to come crashing to Earth. She knew her wish had been granted, but regretted she could not leave her house during the night. Elisa sadly retired to her bed, eagerly waiting for the dawn.

At that precise moment, the star landed in the far off forest in the French countryside within the form of a fey lioness.

The lioness groaned as she stumbled about in the clearing. Oh my head….. This body was so unfamiliar and strange. She struggled to get used to walking around on four legs, but it was too much for her. The lioness sat her rump down on the soft grass and tried to regain her senses.
Everything had happened so fast! First she was her rightful self as a star and then a little girl had wished on her! She smiled a little contemplating this since it was every star’s dream to grant someone’s wish. However, she didn’t enjoy the new form she had taken.
In frustration she began swishing her tail she didn’t know she had until now. How interesting…. There was a small creek gurgling to her left, illuminated by the moonlight. Still stumbling, she made her way over to it.
Gazing into the crystal clear water, she noticed she had taken the form of some sort of sliver coated feline. There was a white crescent moon on her forehead and both of her eyes were different colors.
Thoroughly satisfied, she turned towards the woods to begin her quest. She was still troublesome getting around on four legs, but like a newborn foal, she was starting to get a hang of it. The forest ahead was dark in the night, save for the streaks of moonlight that sliced through the eerie darkness.

Cautiously padding along, the lioness realized she had no real name to call herself. When she had been a star, she was referred to as White Dwarf Number 14,823,042. Obviously, this would not do. Think! There's got to be something I can use! I have a whole new life ahead. It could be anything I want it to be.

Her head was still spinning so she gave up for a while and concentrated on getting to her destination. She could sense the distance was not far, but it was not close. There could be many obstacles in her way due to the nature of the forest. She estimated it would take her about a day and a half to get to the end of her journey.

A good mile or so into the dense wood, she noticed a flickering campfire surrounded by a few colorful carts and wagons. There were folk dancing around the large fire speaking in a strange tongue that she could not understand. Very stealth-like, she made her way closer to the circle and hid behind the largest of the carts.

A tall dark man, dressed in bright yellows and purples seemed to be the leader of the band. He leaped about the fire, dancing in between a few girls, then leaping out to chat with a few musicians off to the side. The atmosphere was indeed festive, but there was something the lioness couldn't put her finger on. She knew there was a name for these people. She had heard it a few times up in the sky when the other stars observed them.

Leaning to the side, she poked her head out from the side of the cart to get a better look. So far, no one had noticed the sliver feline hiding behind one of their carts until they heard a sneeze from that direction. The music stopped and the girls ceased dancing to stare curiously at the cart.

The tall man raised a brow and strode over confidently towards the rear of the cart, “Well, now...What do we have here?" He turned to look behind the decorative fabric that covered the roof and saw a medium-sized sliver and white lioness staring up at him with her different colored eyes.
----------------
The sun began its rise over the tree line letting early morning sunlight pour into Elisa's room. The nine-year old quickly threw back the covers in excitement and yanked her door open. This was the day her wish was coming true!

Elisa grabbed the thick fair tale book of the shelf in her father's library and flew down the stairs to the dining room where her mother was having her breakfast in silence, “Mother! Mother! Look! A star fell when I wished on it just like in this book!"

Her mother glared down at her daughter with a cavalier look, “Nonsense, fairy tales don't exist. Now be gone with you. Mother's eating her breakfast." The woman returned to her meal as a saddened Elisa climbed back up the long spiral staircase.

Elisa silently shut her door and leaned against it. Sniffling a bit, she glanced back at her window with the view of the forest. The window remained both proof and a symbol of hope for Elisa.

------------------------
The lioness shrunk backwards, intimidated at the stranger before her. She knew it would be stupid to run away, and the man didn’t look immediately dangerous. There was, however, a look in his eye that suggested he wasn’t entirely good either.
He stroked the small goatee on his chin, “Hmm….you seem to be a little out of place little lionne. Where are you from?”
She expected herself to be able to speak normally, but to her dismay, only a low growling noise escaped her lips. Knowing she couldn’t communicate verbally, she tossed her head towards the sky and drew a small star in the dirt to help clarify.
A small smile crept up the man’s face, “Ah, one of the heavens. Well, we best help you accomplish your task, “He lifted the purple feathered hat off his head and bowed,
“Forgive me for not introducing myself, I am Stefan. Leader of this Gypsy clan.”
The feline’s eyes lit up with recognition. So these were the gypsies! She remembered hearing her sisters chatter about them, but she herself had never seen them in person.
The uneasiness left her and she decided to trust Stefan and his clan with his offer to take her to the end of her journey. They knew the area, and could probably move faster than her. She attempted a smile and nodded, trying to communicate her thanks.
A small child stepped out nervously from behind his mother while still holding her colorful skirt and asked in a high-pitched voice, “What’s her name?”
The whole clan turned to look at her with curious eyes waiting for an answer. Embarrassed, the lioness racked her brain for a name. Any name would do. She wished she had thought of this earlier.
Suddenly a thought sparked in her mind and she extended a claw on her forepaw to scribble, ‘Gypse’, in the dirt. The lioness now named Gypse knew it wasn’t too original given the circumstance, but she knew it would suffice. In fact, she liked it and thought it was pretty.
Stefan leaned down to examine what Gypse had written in the soft dirt and turned back to his clan. In an excited voice he shouted, “Let us welcome Gypse the lionne sent from the stars to the clan!” The clan let out cries of joy and the music and dancing resumed to Gypse’s enjoyment.
-----------------------

The laughter and music faded into the night as the sun climbed over the horizon and sent rays of sunlight over the terrain. Thick morning fog twisted itself around the trees and poured through the valleys and clearings. Birds chirping and the sound of small animals darting amidst the brush were the only sounds to be heard in the dense forest.
Gypse woke earlier than the rest who were still sound asleep around the camp. She was careful to be quiet while padding out of the circle of carts so she wouldn’t disturb anyone sleeping.
Her stomach pained her to search for food but she was unsure of what to look for. Up in the sky, stars never had to search for nourishment, let alone eat. She glanced around the woods searching for at least a hint.
A small, grey rabbit shot out from a thick bush and stared at her with huge brown eyes. The scent from the rabbit crept up into Gypse’s nostrils and kept her in a trance. Something in her mind told her that this was food, but something else held her back.
She stood there for a few seconds, and then shook her head to bring herself back to her senses. The rabbit was still in front of her, frozen with fear. Gypse sighed and made a motion with her head to tell the rabbit it was free to go.
The rabbit nodded and darted back into the brush. The silver lioness slumped onto the grass, wet with dew. She knew she couldn’t bring herself to harm another creature, it was against her nature. Gypse decided it was within her best interest to find another food source for now.
Gypse wandered for a few minutes around the area near the Gypsy camp, still searching for nourishment. A strong, sweet smell caught her nose and pulled her in the direction of a wild berry bush.
Hesitantly, she grasped a small pink colored berry with her teeth and tore it off the bush. Instantly, a sweet, almost bitter taste filled her entire mouth. Gypse swallowed slowly, hoping the berries weren’t poisonous.
To her relief, the berries were fine, and Gypse continued to eat a few more, savoring the taste. She wondered if the place where she was headed had these there. Finally, she figured that these berries were so good that anyplace should have them, or so she hoped.
After eating her fill, Gypse decided to hurry back towards the camp for she had been gone for some time. Lucky for her, she wasn’t too far from the Gypsies, yet she ran faster anyway. There was an excitement in her belly because she knew that she would find her purpose for being sent to Earth later that day. The lioness couldn’t wait to begin her journey.
At the camp, Gypse was greeted with the sounds of pots and pans clanking together, men shouting to each other as they packed heavy items into carts, and animals stomping and snorting impatiently. Stefan was in the midst of the hustle, yelling orders to those who had nothing to do.
Gypse wandered over to him looking slightly confused. His widened at the sight of her, then instantly looked relaxed, “Oh there you are! I was wondering where you might’ve run off too,” he noticed her confusion then proceeded to explain, “We are packing up for the long journey ahead! And you need to get where you were sent here for! No?”
She nodded and Stefan winked, “We seem to be finished now! Come! We have a long road before us!” In a flourish, he jumped atop the driver’s seat in the head cart and flicked the reins of the two Vanner horses pulling it as a signal to start moving.
In a somewhat single file line, the rest of the carts followed Stefan’s out of the clearing. Gypse stood staring at the colorful carts passing her by and jumped into the back of one of the last. The same boy who had asked her name was also in there and gave her a hug around her fluffy silver and white neck.
Gypse blushed and licked the boy’s cheek, which in turn, giggled a bit. He quickly let her go and rushed into the depths of the cart searching for something. The lioness stared out from the opening in the back watching the two horses pulling the next cart behind them as the clearing vanished into the mist.
------------------------

Elisa woke late, tired from a long night of staying up. She waited in her room the day before for a sign that her wish was going to come true. The girl was starting to loose hope fast.
She had scanned he thick Fairytale book over and over again, looking for something that might tell her how long it took for a wish to be granted. It was to no avail.
All Elisa could find was the one passage where she had read about wishing on stars before. There was a picture of a girl standing at her balcony gazing up at a huge diamond shaped star. The next page showed the next day where the girl stood with a handsome prince, their arms linked together.
Elisa stared at the one page, searching for an answer. The text next to the illustration told the story of that one girl, but it failed to be of any real help. She placed the book down and stared back out her window, thinking.
After much thought, her eyes lit up and she smiled. She opened her door and walked cautiously down the hall, being even more careful while passing her father’s study. Elisa then slowly made her way down the stairs and out the back door, closing it slowly.
She glanced around the thick woods that surrounded her family’s estate, standing still for a moment to make sure she hadn’t been found out. If she was caught, she knew her parents wouldn’t believe that she was looking for a fallen star. They would send her to the crazy house for sure!
Elisa peered over the treetops, making sure that she would be headed in the right direction. Satisfied, she ran through the manicured grass serving as their lawn and into the dense trees.

----------------------------------
It was beginning to be late afternoon when Gypse noticed the dark ominous clouds on the northern horizon. A while before she had felt a cool breeze coming from that direction but thought nothing of it. She and the small Gypsy boy had been playing a form of catch with his small red ball for the past hour or so.
From outside the cart she felt the cart come to a stop and heard a few worried neighs from the horses. There was some unintelligible shouting from the cart drivers and the sounds of them jumping down to discuss something.
Confused, Gypse leaped down from her cart and walked towards the head of the line where Stefan was busy arguing with a few other men. They were speaking in a fast, angry manner that was hard for her to understand. The few words she did catch were things like, “storm”, “can’t go any farther”, “and worst in years”, “find shelter for the night”.
Gypse stayed put a few feet back while the men debated about what to do. It seemed some wished to keep going; yet others wanted to stay where they were until the storm passed. Stefan was presumably on the side that wanted to keep going, but he was loosing the argument.
This went on for a few more minutes until one of the men noticed Gypse who was patiently sitting behind them. A few of them grumbled, but Stefan put up his hand to silence them. One or two rolled their eyes, but let Stefan approach Gypse to speak.
“I am sorry little lionne,” he said with a dejected expression, “Due to the storm coming our way we are forced to stay here for the night. You are welcome to spend another night with us if you wish, unless you think you can make it to your destination tonight…”
Gypse solemnly nodded and lowered her ears to show her understanding. Somewhere in her heart, she could sense that she was very near the end of her journey. She nodded again to illustrate that she could make it that night.
Stefan sighed, “Well, if you think you can get there before the storm, I won’t stop you. I wish you good luck on your journey and thank you for traveling with us. We are honored.”
Gypse nodded again with a more upbeat expression on her face. She bowed her head to Stefan to show her gratitude and was about to leave when the small boy from before ran and hugged her again. His face was sad to see her leave and she could even see the beginning of tears in eyes.
She purred and licked his face again. He let go, sniffling a bit. Gypse looked into his eyes and held his gaze for a moment. She blinked and the boy smiled and waved to her good-bye. Unbeknownst to him, Gypse had granted him good luck during his life for gaining her favor.
Gypse then turned back to Stefan and bowed her head again. Finishing her farewells, she padded forward on the rough road before her, moving faster and faster until she disappeared into the dark forest.

-------------------------------
Elisa glanced up at the trees, searching for the sky. Instead of being a deep orange color from the sunset, it was turning a dark gray. A chilly wind coiled around her causing her to wish for her cloak.
She knew she should turn back, but her quest for the fallen star drove her to keep going. She could feel in her heart that she was getting nearer, but the dark sky intimidated her to stray farther.
Elisa hopped over a tree root in her path and felt a large, cold raindrop hit the top of her head, followed by another, and another. Quickly, the rain became harder and more frequent, soon becoming a downpour. In the background, Elisa could hear the rumbling of thunder.
A flash of lightning blinded her for a moment and she tripped over a bigger root in her path. Elisa could feel that her ankle was probably broken and it dawned on her that she couldn’t move. The rain continued and Elisa lost almost all hope she had left.

-----------------------------------
Gypse was moving faster down the road, now a huge mud puddle, in the heavy rainfall. Her coat was now slick and heavy from the rain and she shivered from the cold. Every once in a while she heard a distant thunderclap followed by a flash of lightening.
The rain had washed any scent there would have been surrounding the road and combined with the darkness, Gypse was lost. She wasn’t sure which way she should go nor if she should get off the road. Her commonsense told her to keep to the road, but her instinct told her to go through the trees.
At first, Gypse ignored her instinct, and kept to the road. After a while, she felt doubt in continuing down the road and gave into her instinct, which told her to go into the forest. The rain fall was slightly lighter under the thickly branched trees, but not by much.
There was a feeling inside her that had pointed her in the right direction before, but it had been faint. Now, the farther she went in the forest, the stronger that feeling became. Gypse trusted it and ventured farther and farther.
She leaped over a few overturned trees, and turned a sharp corner when her chest felt like it was ready to burst. Gypse instantly picked up her paws and almost flew through the forest, following her instinct.
Then suddenly, the instinct disappeared. Confused, Gypse slid to stop and peered through the foliage before her. There under an exceptionally huge tree, lay a young girl; unconscious with her ankle bent a strange angle.
Something clicked in Gypse’s mind and she rushed to aid the young girl at the foot of the tree. Her face was a dangerous pale color and her pink dress was soaked through. She nuzzled the girl’s face trying to wake her up.
Slowly, the girl came-to and coughed hard. She looked up at the figure before and instantly knew whom it was. She reached up to stroke Gypse’s cheek and whispered, “You came…..”
Gypse nodded and nuzzled the girl’s face again. The rain continued to fall and Gypse knew she had to get her home. Carefully, Gypse helped the girl onto her back and rushed through the rain, her instinct guiding her home.

---------------------------
It took a while for Elisa’s parents to get used to the idea of a lion living in their house, but Gypse proved she wouldn’t be a bother. During the winter she chased the mice in the house. In the spring and summer she used her tail as a bug swatter and drove away the pests. She acted as a guard for the house, but mostly Elisa.
They spent everyday together, as they still do. They explored the surrounding woods, caught butterflies in the fields, and stayed up stargazing, which Gypse was especially good at. It was exactly as Elisa had wished for.
Sometimes Gypse is homesick and fondly remembers her time as a star up in the sky. She remembers her time spent with Stefan’s band of Gypsies and she remembers her journey to where she is today. But Gypse knows she wouldn’t trade anything to go back to any of those times. With Elisa she belongs and with Elisa she will stay.
