Nimlet Adoptions - CLOSED for semi hiatus

Postby Chomp » Sun May 12, 2013 2:39 pm

Welcome to Nimlet Adoptions <:
read below to learn about Nimlets
Image

A Nimlet is a small goat/dear like creature that usually lives in herds. They're small eaters that snack on fruits, vegetables and herbs but only need miniscule amounts to keep them satiated over long periods of time. They're as vast in personality as they are in color and design, and they have almost infinite amounts of energy. These small creatures, the largest no bigger than a Maine Coon, use their sharp pointed hooves not only to defend themselves when needed but to dig out dens underground. These dens can span over miles and hold herds of up to thirty.

News and Updates
last updated 5/12/13

The current season is spring as of Sunday May 12th. Currently not looking for staff, and when I am I will personally ask members who I know can produce quality designs. Please don't message me/post asking to be part of the staff. On a lighter note, I have hope for this species, and I appreciate any feedback and support! Thanks to everyone who's done so c:.

UPDATE: please read the Bulletin Announcement on P3 (or click here) regarding staff requests, mini-modding and customs.

How to Adopt Your Own
please read through this and the rules

Adopting will be pretty straight forward, with all of the qualifications for applying laid out on each Nimlet's adoptable page. In addition, I would like owners to be at least semi active with their Nimlet, though I hold no hard feelings to anybody who doesn't have the time to or simply loses interest in them. Please remember to read the rules before applying, and it would also be very helpful if you took the time to look over the information section of this thread, located just below. Other than that, happy adopting!

The Rules and Guidelines
the rules were last updated 5/19/2013

I know, rules are boring and obnoxious, but if you don't read through them, then I really don't consider you quiet dedicated enough to own a Nimlet. Please take the time to look over this list so the adoption process can go easily for both you and I!

  • The first rule is: read the rules and guidelines
  • Feel free to post questions/comments, but no posting spam!
  • Be a good sport; don't beg, bribe, or complain if you don't win.
  • The species is created by and is © to me. No claiming it as your own.
  • Be respectful towards mods, artists, other applicants and so on.
  • Don't ask to be a guest artist or helper. I currently don't need help.
  • Unless given permission from me, you may only post Nimlets on CS.
  • I'm not keen on "character hoarders"; those who adopt just to adopt.
  • As of right now, you may only own four Nimlet. This may change later.
  • Please don't ask for a custom Nimlet, I presently have no intention of making them.
  • Please don't bump your posts. It won't make me answer any sooner, and I count it as spam.

About the Nimlets
all you need to know about the Nimlets

Basic & Physical Information

Nimlets range in size from that of a small cat to a large cat such as a Maine Coon, fawns being (baby Nimlets) roughly the size of a grapefruit. Their fur, while short in most places, has been noted for it's softness. The males and females (also referred to as bucks and does, respectively) can be easily told apart, as the males don manes. While Nimlets are happy to be out and about almost any time of the day, they're most active at sunrise - at which point they get their gathering and work taken care of, and then into the noon they enjoy playing or lazing about.

Though all Nimlets can and do dig dens, it's mostly the bucks duty to make sure the herd has a good strong series of dens to keep them safe from threats such as storms and predators. Even from a young age, bucks start digging a large number of holes to start practicing to do this in the future.

Their large ears and eyes assure a great sense of hearing and sight, but as an added defense mechanism, they can feel vibrations in the ground as far as a hundred and fifty yards away (which is a little bigger than a football field), some being able to feel vibrations as far as two hundred (almost as far as two football fields), some less than others.

As you can guess, a Nimlet's diet consists of no meat. They'll eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, herbs, grains, and enjoy a series of human snacks as well (though they can seldom collect the tasty treats) - cereals, crackers, and salty snack foods in general. If you ever wanted to tame a Nimlet, a surefire way would be through bribery with food!

Behavioral and Herd Information

As you may have guessed, Nimlets are herd animals. They reside in herds of up to thirty other Nimlets. Herds are usually made up of several small families or a few large families. If the herd isn't too big and the land allows for it, they'll allow others to join them if they wish to do so. There are also times where well off herds will join with those that aren't so fortunate, so the stronger of the two groups will be even more so, and the weaker of the two won't have to struggle.

Most of them aren't territorial, however there have been a few "hostile" herds, which avoid contact with other Nimlets and on rare occasion invade their dens (albeit in a cowardly manner, generally while the victim herd is away). Although for the most part, you can except Nimlets to be at the very least passive to others.

Nimlets have a mutual relationship with humans. They don't produce good pelts or milk, and generally they make terrible pets as they get tireless when they're kept in a pin or house, so humans seldom search for them or bother trying to tame them. Though it isn't unheard of either and occasionally you can find a Nimlet with a temperament that allows you to keep it as a pet.

Their are different roles for every Nimlet in a herd. The young males spend their time play fighting and digging holes, while younger females enjoy learning about the plant life around them and gathering, though it isn't impossible for the roles to be switched around in these aspects. The elder females will spend a lot of time in the nursery dens, while elder males act as overseers and counselors for the whole herd. Mature Nimlet bucks are expected to protect the females (though not everyone can be a warrior, which is understandable) and mature females generally have the duty of gathering and training the fawns. Then there's the task of courier, which can be given to either gender. Couriers are meant to deliver messages of importance (oncoming threats, "political" going on's, requests for allegiance or denial of allegiance and so on). Couriers are considered to be highly important to a herd, as it saves the herd the trouble of going long distances together in questionable conditions, and it takes a good amount of courage as well.

Breeding and Seasons

Like in the real world, there are four seasons. Seasons span roughly one week each. That means over the course of a month, all four seasons will have passed. Breeding season only spans over spring and summer (the first two weeks of the month). Nimlets can breed up to four times in their life, and they give birth to one two three offspring; the chances of having two or one being half and half, and the chances of having three being rare.

Breeding itself is an unusual thing. When a buck and doe fall in love and decide that it's time to raise offspring, they have to take a journey to Everfall Mountain. While most herds are more or less centered around this mountain, it can be a rough journey nevertheless. Once they reach the mountain, they climb it to the top - a task that can take up to two days. Then once at the top, they'll reach a valley (called "The Valley of Eternal Green"), where in the center they find a grand and beautiful tree. This tree bears large, delicious fruits. The buck and the doe take a fruit and each eat half, and then they simply lay together in the hole at the base of the tree. After this, the female will find herself carrying a Nimlet inside of her within weeks.

Also, note that Nimlet bucks may only be attracted to does and vice versa. They have no desire to be romantically involved with the same gender, as it's not a part of their biology. On another note, they don't do a lot of "experimenting" (dating); they usually have a pretty good sense of who they do and don't want to be with, and then they mate for life.

Aging your Nimlet

Your adult Nimlet can be aged however you like - if you want to make it old, that's your choice to do so. You also have the freedom to do "flashback" roleplays, roleplays where your Nimlet is a child or teenager.

If you get a child or baby Nimlet, you can take however long you'd like aging them to an adult. Given that you receive a baby Nimlet, you have the option to skip over the teenager stage and move onto adulthood. However, if you do decide to age them, you must wait one week (seven days) before aging a baby or child to an adult. Should you desire to roleplay babies as children, adults, or roleplay children as adults, you also have the freedom to do that. However, unless you intend to age them soon after, they can't take a mate or even dawdle too far in romance in this setting.
