Sora Neko #99

Postby Crescent » Fri May 10, 2013 2:01 am

What is a Sora Neko?

Sora nekos are what all of the felines of the world originate from, they are an ancient species, only recently discovered. They are much like the felines of today except that they defy the laws of science, like they can fly and unnatural phenomenon seem to happen around them, some classing it as 'magic'.

Age: 2 years old.

Story of how you found him/her:
I was walking home from art college, rucksack full to the brim of work and my back was positively aching from carrying the substantial weight for most of the day. I carried a little toolbox in my left hand, inside was my more expensive watercolours and brushes. I spent most of my month's part-time wages on them, and I loved them.

I usually took the main road from the college to my home, but I was keen on getting home early this day so I took the detour through the woods that was situated behind my home. My older brother had just come back from travelling overseas for a gap year and working in different places. My dream was to do the same once I had finished college, and so I was looking forward to hearing all the exciting things he got up to over the year he wasn't home. I missed him terribly too.

There was a small stream that wound it's way through the woods, splitting it almost in half, and there was only one tiny footbridge that you could cross over to the other side. The path I walked was well-trodden, the dirt, old bark and broken leaves were flattened by human shoes and dog paws alike. Nothing was out of the ordinary, except the sun caught on something shiny out the corner of my eye.

I couldn't help but look, and amongst the long grasses, and plain stones and rocks that lined the stream, there was a large blue object glinting in the late day's sunlight. It sparkled in many different colours of blue in such a pretty manner, and I wondered if it was one of those semi-precious gemstones that sometimes got filtered through sand and rivers and got washed up. I stopped walking to look at it, and a part of me was keen to go and pick it up. The artist in me wanted to collect it and keep it to use in a future still life painting, and nobody seemed to be around looking for it.

Decided, I placed my bag and toolbox down, crossed to the other side and approached the small embankment to step down to pick it up. Rustling in the long grass made me pause, eyes glancing left and right. It wasn't uncommon for squirrels and foxes to be around, so I wasn't overly cautious, only wary of where I was placing my feet.

I was almost within reaching distance, my arm at its full extension, when the blue rock vanished. Simply slipped into the undergrowth of the long grasses behind it as though something had pulled it. Surprise stilled me for a moment, before I leaned a little closer. The grasses rustled again, and a strange noise came from the place there the rock disappeared to.

"Hello?" I called.

Of course I wasn't expecting an answer. I knew there wasn't another human within calling distance. Merely, most animals responded to human voices in some way or another, and I wasn't keen on parting the grasses incase a rabid fox lunged at me. I knew enough about wild animals to look for a way to identify it without putting a limb within striking distance.

The strange noise happened again, and a head poked out between the long blades of grass. Immediately I could tell it was a cat, but it wasn't your average everyday tabby. It's head was a bright azure blue with dark blue ear tips, a head stripe and chin. It's eyes were also dark, and they blinked up at me intelligently as though it truly answered me. It's ears were most striking, and I could see they were long and fringed, almost like a lynx.

A Sora Neko, but why was it here? That blue rock must've been it's orb, no way it could've been anything else.

It made the strange noise again, a cross between a drawn out purr and a squeak, it's whiskers twitching. I wondered if it was injured.

"Hi...How'd you get down here?"

What will you do with her if you win him/her: He will be my second male Neko, so I'll make art of him and feature him in the Sora RP along with my girlies ^^ I may breed from him in the future too.

Story of how you found him/
her: It was a dark night, the night my mother died. You may be thinking, 'why is she just jumping to this?' Well theres a reason. This night I had found the greastest friend in the world.
    ~6 years earlier,~
    "Mom, mom!" I yelled happily.
"Look at what I caught!" My mother turned towards me. "What is is Akemi?" She asked.
I opened my hand to reaveal a blue butterfly with glowing markings. My mother gasped.
    "Akemi its a sign!"
I tilted my head in confusion.
    "A sign for what mommy?"
    She chuckled.
"A sign that something great will happen."
    ~present day~
'Ya sure, something "great!"' I thought bitterly. I kicked a rock and it hit a can. I was told that butterfly ment something great, but 3 years after I found it. On the same day my mom died.
~ You may be thinking, 'why would she write this? I don't want to read this, she isn't that good at writing.' Haha I know, but at least I'm sharing something important with you.~
I looked into the starless night and cried. "Mom! Why did you have to go?!" I yelled. With my fist raised and my anger going all the way to my head, I kept on shouting till I could barely talk. Makoto

What will you do with her
if you win her: Make wonderful art of her and rp with this beautiful baby ^^!

Name:
Ripple Wishglow, or just
Ripple

Gender:
Female

Age: 2

Story of how you found him/her:

It was just a regular summer day. Or so I thought. I was at the beach with my family, swimming as always, although I personally think the ocean is rather scary. I sucked in a breath, waited for a wave, and dove in. I was going out to Touch Base. This was a game, a dare if you will, my family had with one another. Almost all the way down to the buoys, there was a large rock. We had been trying to get to it, to touch it, for ages. No one had gotten there yet. I swam, paddling hard, and then dove like an arrow to the ocean floor. This was the hard part. It was so deep it was nearly impossible for me to hold the breath for longer than the trip down. I decided to gather more air and energy before trying, and I rested, treading water for awhile. Suddenly, I realized my family was yelling at me frantically from the shore. I froze, looking where they were pointing. I could see a fin slicing through the water. Shark! I dove under and swum away as fast as I could. My leg was bumped by a slick body underneath me. I nearly screamed, which would have lost my breath and cost my life, and jerked away. I looked down and realized . . . . it was a dolphin. I let out a sigh of relief and briefly wondered why a dolphin was here. The dolphin seemed surprised by me too, and let out a chittering squeak. It swam quickly away. I began to coast back up when I realized something strange. There were tons of deep sea creatures all around me! I quickly spotted an eel, some more dolphins, and a strange fish thing with a razor looking thingamgig on its tail. I looked up and saw something even weirder. The water was moving. And I don't mean in the usual way. It was like someone had taken one piece of a photo, the water and the shadows and lights in it were all moving together like a puzzle piece. As I looked closer, I realized the puzzle piece was in the shape of a she-cat, who was looking behind me with such terror in her eyes I couldn't help but turn. I looked around and saw a shark's lean shape angling toward me. It narrowed in on me and shot like a live torpedo in my direction. The cat-shape above me hurried to counter attack, ramming the shark's side, and pushing it off course. I was suddenly hit with pain in my leg; the shark had missed it's main target but sliced at me anyway. The cat quickly arrowed toward me and I grabbed hold of her coat, as that was obviously her goal; to get me away from there. We swam quickly, downward, and I realized when I held onto her I could breath. We glided into a cave with stalactites hanging from the ceiling and other cats in the corner and she let me float off her and catch my breath. Then I must have lost consciousness. All I can remember was that I woke, not sure how long I'd been out. It seemed darker underwater, but who knows. "Who are you?" I asked the cat who I now saw snuggled protectively against her kit, a pretty cat with deep blue and white stripes who appeared to be sick. "My name is Ripple and I am a Sora Neko who can control water, that is the only way we are able to talk." she says. "I have changed the properties of water around here to fit my needs. That's how you can breath too. This is where me and my family live." she gestures with her bejeweled tail to a black and pink striped cat who I take to be her mate playing with another small kitten, an orange and pink Sora with a bright red jewel-orb. "I'm sorry to say that that's why you have that as well, although I've managed to heal most of it. I can heal external hurts, like cuts, easily." She gestured again, this time toward my leg, which had a large gash on it. "My power calls creatures from everywhere. That was a Mako shark." I nodded, wide eyed. The kitten by Ripple's leg whimpered a bit and stumbled. I reached out to pet her and my hand brushed hot fur. She had a fever. "What time is it? I need to get back to my parents." I say nervously. "And . . . I-I think I can heal your kitten." I see a spark of hope flare in her eyes as she leads me to the surface.
~~3~days~later~~
I walked to the beach, cradling a small aquarium and feeling lucky that my friend specializes in veterinary. I released the kitten out into the open water again as her family swam up. "She should get better naturally, now." "Thank you!" They purred.

But now, I must stop my story, I have dolphin riding lessons with my friend Ripple!
