Thank you, Darke! I appreciate your response. Seems like it would be difficult to hoard Liontails, but I guess that's just because I don't have anything that's worth one. I probably won't go that rare with my hoard. xD

I'll answer some of your questions, ysa :3
How did you get into hoarding? Did you get the idea from seeing other people's hoards, or did you just decide to do it on your own?
Well, I had considered starting a hoard for awhile, but I put it off, as I was aiming to achieve certian pets. Finally I really thought about it, and I started one. A lot of people had hoards that I saw, and it looked kinda fun, trying to collect a large amount of one pet. Almost like a game c:

Do you hoard on impulse, or do you put a lot of thought into which pets you hoard and why?
The pet I hoard has to have some meaning to me, and/or the design is nice. I hoard my orange tabby cats because I once knew a very friendly cat that looked almost identical to them <3

If your hoard(s) is/are common or fairly easy-to-get pets, does it ever get to a point when all you feel like you ever do is trade for your hoard?
Ya, pretty much :3 My hoard pets are OMGosh-So-Common, to Very Common, so they are pretty easy to find. Once and awhile, I will overpay by a common just to make sure they accept the trade :3

I appreciate your feedback, Moon!

I like your reason for hoarding the tabbies. I once knew a very friendly Siamese, and I wish I knew how he is doing these days.

If I started a hoard, I most likely would hoard something uncommon or rare, not terribly easy to find, because I'd feel more accomplished having ten of a pet I really had to work for rather than a thousand that were perhaps so easy to find that people are practically dumping their extras on me.

Back in June last year, I fell in love with the PPS owls that were released. I just suddenly decided I wanted ALL of them, and it kind of escalated from there. Now I have 620 of the little blighters.
I kind of just chose a pet as it is released and try to hoard. it is very much on impulse.
It did kind of get to that point with my chicken hoard. I got to about 1300 and all I got was trades with chickens in, usually really unfair ones, and never got any other trades.
My rare hoard, {of only 4} is quite hard, as I am running out of rare fodder. I think my main problem though, is that I trade it all for CS$.
Good luck with your hoard if you start one. Just make sure you are doing it because you love the pet/s you hoard, not because you want a hoard. It makes it a lot easier, and fun-er if you love the pets.

If you want a challenge, maybe you should try and bet a CS Hoard records. {as long as it is not mine!} There are loads of records, and trying to bet them is fun, and rewarding. Clickie ;3

If your hoard(s) is/are rare or hard-to-get pets, do you find yourself running out of trade fodder easily?

1) I got into hoarding somewhen in 2009; I saw other people do it, and thought it was actually a pretty cool idea, especially since I sometimes just didn't feel like trading off doubles of pets I had.
My first 'real' hoard was of the '09 Advent cats with the dog designs. I liked them a lot, and they were much easier to get than their dog 'relatives', so I went and tried to get as many as I could.

I've also never been a big collector to begin with; when I first found CS, of course, I tried to get one of every pet, but felt that I didn't really want to, actually. I've never been interested in trading for Sorbets or sun dogs, for example, because their design didn't appeal to me. So when I heard of some hoarders having given up their collections in favour of hoarding, it seemed like the most reasonable thing for me to do: keep only the pets I like, and trade everything else for hoardies.

2) Usually I decide to hoard pets based on their looks. I just see them and think 'aww, that looks cute' or 'wow, that reminds me of x', and then I hoard. Lots of my hoards do have special meanings to me. I put thought in the hoard name and (sometimes) the number, some pets also get names that have to do with why I hoard them, etc. etc.
For example, my two Nebula dog hoards are tributes to my favourite band, because their design reminds me of them. But I wouldn't hoard those pets if I didn't find them beautiful.
One of my rat hoards is a different band tribute, and they are all named after a song on the album their design reminded me of.
The March Leurai dog litter and December Chia dog litter remind me of a character of mine.
I just associate designs I like with things I like, and then decide to hoard or not to hoard ^^

3) As I don't collect and just hoard: of course. The only times when I don't trade for my hoards is when I trade for stuff to give to friends, and that's usually hoard pets, too xD

4) Yes. I'm currently out of trade fodder for Vixen Advents and URB pets, and have only very few pets left to get morr Store Unicorns. This is mainly because I'm really lazy and despise having to trade up xD
Combine that with my tendency to overpay/refusal to underpay, and tadaa - broke xD

1) to be honest, around 2011 I got very bored. As much as I loved the pets put out every month, there was nothing really to do other than being on the fourms. So I thought about doing a hoard, but couldn't pin point which pet. Until I saw the rotties we got one month. They so closely resembled my dog Friday that I couldn't help but hoard Some 50 of them.

2) Sometimes it depends. I might just hoard because I'm bored and want an easy mini hoard, or because I like the design, or because the pet just gives me good memories.

3) No. I usually hoard only VC - Common pets, and even then, all if not most of my goals are set at 20. 20 is my lucky number, so that's my goal for my hoards. I don't know if I'd even be considered a real hoarder, because all I do is mini hoard. But that's about 30+ little mini hoards. I don't feel like I'm always trading for my hoards because I set deadlines for myself. Oh, I want to finish his hoard by the end of the week. So then the rest of the month, I'm not worrying to find my hoards, and I'm not constantly losing fodder. I give myself time to rebuild my fodder.

4) I hoard the 08 Camo dogs, and frankly yes, by only finding 6 I've ran out of 08 fodder lol. If you're going to do an UC-Rare-VR hoard, expect to be paying what it's worth. You won't find yourself getting any pets in underpay, unless you're gifted one. It'll seem like you have lots of rares, until you start trading them off one by one, then you'lL have none left

I started my hoard on impulse, I guess xD it was September 2009 and the Malk Betas finally came out of their stone egg thing and I just went "OMG THEY LOOK LIKE MY PRECIOUS BETA FISH FROM MY CHILDHOOD" so I started hoarding them. XD

I received birthday gifts a month later... which were pretty much packed with those malk betas because people actually wanted to get rid of them XD

I don't think I ever actively traded for my hoard. In 2009 and 2010, I snagged a bunch from adoption centers. After I came back from my hiatus, I decided that I wanted to save my fodder for completing my collection, but I still accept betas in trades; I just don't ask for them since I don't want to continually lose my trade fodder xD;

To me, it's interesting comparing how I got betas back in 2009 and how I get them now :3 Back then, I got over 200 of them, no sweat because everyone was getting rid of theirs for some reason xD now, I take them in fair trades, and they're actually worth quite a bit (since they're 2009 pets, after all :P).

That's my only hoard at the moment; I'm considering starting another hoard later on when I'm not missing so many pets, but by then, my attachment to the pets I'm considering hoarding might not be as strong xD
