Name: "Hello, I am Shining Ruby. Pleased to meet you!"

Nickname(s): My friends usually just call me Ruby or Ru. My full name's a bit of a mouthful!

Age: I am around the age of a teenager. I turned fifteen last July, which is why my name is Shining Ruby, since a ruby is July's birthstone.

Occupation: As I am not yet old enough to run my own shop or business, I help Rarity out in her boutique. She says I am a great help, because of my knack for finding precious jewels. I also sometimes help with the sewing, but I'm definitely not as skilled as her. I don't think anypony is! I hope she will make a Grand Galloping Gala dress for me!

Personality: Well, one of the first things you'll learn about me if you spend time with me is that I am very energetic. I love to get up and go! I've always wanted wings, so I can fly high like Rainbow Dash! However, there is another, politer, gentler side to me, too, which I show when working with Rarity. I am rather intelligent, and can solve most problems in my head. I am very outgoing and friendly, and love welcoming new ponies to Ponyville. You'll learn that I am hard-working and dedicated. I don't take my work lightly. I am honest and will stick to my promises, even if I have second thoughts later. I am very loyal to my friends and family, and if someone tries to hurt them, they've got to get through me, first! I think I get along with my sister very well, compared to other siblings. I will go to any lengths to get revenge, especially if what you've done to me is serious. I sometimes try to bottle up my energy, but usually it all comes out in what I call an 'Emotion Explosion'! Another thing you should know is that I have a pretty big appetite. My favorite foods are sweets of all kinds, preferably strawberry shortcake. However, I can be a dainty lady if I want to. I enjoy my double-agent personality, but 75% percent of the time you'll see me as the energetic, sporty kind of mare.

History: Well, I'm your pretty typical pony; I was born to Diamond Gleam and Igneous Scratch, along with Sapphire Jewel. I am the younger one of us two. When I was just a little filly, Mom moved to Canterlot because of a job promotion. She promised to return in three years, but she never did. I assumed she was doing well for herself. Dad raised us ever since, but he just wasn't the same. He used to be the life of the party at family reunions, a funny, clever, and loving father. He still loved us beyond belief, but his sense of humor and adventurous attitude started to fade away until he was always tired and bitter, like a wilted flower. But all that changed when we got a letter from Mom in the mail. We were so overjoyed to hear from her after five years! Dad's old self seemed to break through at that moment. He started to dance around the parlor in glee! We read on, and Mom made a vow to return home by next year. And if there's one thing to be said about Diamond Gleam, it's that she's never broken a promise. Sure enough, she came back three months early! She brought back with her many beautiful dresses she had made (I guess that's where I got my talent from), and even gifts for us! My Dad was given a set of books about science that I read and found interesting, Sapphire got a beautiful blue dress and yellow mane-bows, and I received the most special possession I have-- The heart-shaped necklace made of ruby that I've worn every day since then. So, everyone lived happily, occasionally a fight or other trouble occurring, but nothing worse than that. Our family has been happy together ever since, and always will be.
