So thy can choose to have mates for life, but they mostly just do what normal bears do, correct? Just to clarify C:

Most will find a permanent mate, but only live with cubs until the cubs can go out on their own.
Others will do what normal bears do, and mate (up to 3 times) with a different mate.
And others will form small packs, similar to what dingos do, but these packs consist only of family.

hmmm i want to say that no, like bears in the wild solitary dakoyas will only be concerned with reproduction and not finding a permanent companion, but wazi and i are discussing this so i'll edit this when we come to a decision c:

alrightttt. we've come to the decision that no, solitary Dakoyas will never settle down with a permanent mate.
but we know this may put some people off adopting a solitary dakoya because they wont be able to create couple pictures and such. on the contrary, solitary dakoyas will stay with a mate until the cubs can leave, therefore if you own a solitary dakoya you will get to have couple pictures or whatever with up to 3 different mates! and have a variety of cubs to choose from if you wish to adopt one of the dakoyas offspring :)

This species is beautiful, and I love the concept. Very thought out.

Sadly, I cannot adopt one, as the only reason I ever look for characters anymore is to put into my original pet story hosted on tumblr, but I still like them and have bookmarked this topic, just for looking at in future. c:
