7.Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
As a longtime member of Chickensmoothie, I have gained a wide variety of knowledge relating to the website itself as well as the rules and regulations employed in order to keep the site running in a manner that is welcoming to those of all ages. Throughout the past four years that I have been a member, I have watched this site grow and evolve, gaining hundreds of thousands of members, and releasing new and beautiful pets in a manner unique and interesting. Until now, I’ve been fairly content to spend my time on the sidelines rather than get involved, however, that is no longer the case as I consider myself mature and respectful enough to take on a position such as this.
I am aware that the position of Global Moderator brings with it a great deal of responsibility and occasionally will test my patience. Despite this fact, I know that I am well able to handle such a task and that by doing so I’ll be able to help better the community in ways that I am less able to currently. Recently I have become more aware of inappropriate posts and crude language throughout the site. I have been able to report such posts and have the content removed, however, being able to remove them myself and deal with the trouble wherever possible before it has the chance to get out of hand would help ease the burden placed on the staff.
My experience on Chickensmoothie has been one that has brought many new experiences and great enjoyment. I know that it is because of the ever vigilant staff that I have been able to enjoy this site to the fullest as I’ve grown from a teenager into an adult. I believe that others should be allowed the same opportunity that I was given and that they should also be able to feel safe and secure on the site no matter their age. I would be overjoyed to be given this position so that I can be a positive role model to the younger players and help ensure the safety of the members of Chickensmoothie in years to come.
8.Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position:
I have worked in customer service for the past year, a difficult and sometimes disheartening job as people who speak with me are generally upset and are looking to take out their fury on someone who won't fight back. This job has given me increased listening and comprehension skills as well as the ability to speak calmly despite customers purposely attempting to upset me.
I recently completed a course on Franklin R. Covey's book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and have gained skills in peer mediation, understanding, and synergism. All of these would be useful when utilized properly and at their proper time.
