Re: GLOBAL MODERATORS - Now Hiring! Apply within. Age 18+ on

1.What date did you register as a CS member?:
27 September 2008

2.How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):
10979

3.Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval:
Yes

4.How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
I get online on a daily basis, days that I do not log on are rare and far between.

5.How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
At the current time, I generally spend approximately three to four hours online on weekdays and anywhere from five to seven hours online on weekends.

6.Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
No, I've not been given the opportunity elsewhere.

7.Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
As a longtime member of Chickensmoothie, I have gained a wide variety of knowledge relating to the website itself as well as the rules and regulations employed in order to keep the site running in a manner that is welcoming to those of all ages. Throughout the past four years that I have been a member, I have watched this site grow and evolve, gaining hundreds of thousands of members, and releasing new and beautiful pets in a manner unique and interesting. Until now, I’ve been fairly content to spend my time on the sidelines rather than get involved, however, that is no longer the case as I consider myself mature and respectful enough to take on a position such as this.

I am aware that the position of Global Moderator brings with it a great deal of responsibility and occasionally will test my patience. Despite this fact, I know that I am well able to handle such a task and that by doing so I’ll be able to help better the community in ways that I am less able to currently. Recently I have become more aware of inappropriate posts and crude language throughout the site. I have been able to report such posts and have the content removed, however, being able to remove them myself and deal with the trouble wherever possible before it has the chance to get out of hand would help ease the burden placed on the staff.

My experience on Chickensmoothie has been one that has brought many new experiences and great enjoyment. I know that it is because of the ever vigilant staff that I have been able to enjoy this site to the fullest as I’ve grown from a teenager into an adult. I believe that others should be allowed the same opportunity that I was given and that they should also be able to feel safe and secure on the site no matter their age. I would be overjoyed to be given this position so that I can be a positive role model to the younger players and help ensure the safety of the members of Chickensmoothie in years to come.

8.Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position:
I have worked in customer service for the past year, a difficult and sometimes disheartening job as people who speak with me are generally upset and are looking to take out their fury on someone who won't fight back. This job has given me increased listening and comprehension skills as well as the ability to speak calmly despite customers purposely attempting to upset me.

I recently completed a course on Franklin R. Covey's book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and have gained skills in peer mediation, understanding, and synergism. All of these would be useful when utilized properly and at their proper time.

Global Moderator Application:
Avada Kedavra

What date did you register as a CS member?:
July 31st 2009

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):
1303 posts (I tend to be a lurker, and generally only speak if I have something interesting or important to say)

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval:
Yes, I am both old enough and willing to risk seeing adult content.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
Usually every day, unless I have a prior commitment in my schedule.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
At least 4-5 hours intermittently on the average day, but most of the time I'll be on more than that.

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them.
No, I've never had the privilege.

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? I've been an active member of the CS community since the middle of 2009. I know I'm not the most experienced or active person on here, but I do have a lot of fun. I feel if I were to become a moderator, I would gain experience and more knowledge of the pets, rarities, and the site in general. I look forward to coming on CS every day and having fun interacting with other members. I'm not a social person in real life, so the community here is important to me. I'm physically disabled, so I'm unable to work outside my home. I spend a lot of time here, and I think it would be great if I could help keep the site clean and friendly.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?)
I have been in karate for a number of years, and became an assistant instructor. I have to teach younger and older members, not just my peers, and have to keep a neutral and objective mindset. Through doing this, I have learned how to be very patient and keep my cool in stressful situations, as well as mediate situations in which students disagree or argue.

Good luck to all applying, and congrats to those who get a position!

APPLICATON
What date did you register as a CS member?: October 27th, 2008

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 4964

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Yes, I am willing to risk seeing 18+ material, and shielding the CS community from such.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS? Every day, multiple times.
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? 3-5 hours.

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them: I have not moderated before.

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? I want to become a Moderator for Chicken Smoothie for a number of reasons. First, I'm compassionate, I really want to assist others! :D It makes me feel wonderful o brightened someone's day or lessened their load. On CS I want to help people, so they not only understand the rules, but also follow them, and enjoy the site as it was designed to be enjoyed, I wouldn't leave anyone hanging if they came to me with a problem. Another thing, is protecting users, especially COPPA'd members. I'm big on justice and equality for all, and if something is unjust, offensive or just downright wrong rest assured that I would deal with the incident and/or material in a cool-headed, unbiased, safe, and fair manner. Being a Moderator would give me a greater meaning, beyond collecting pets. I love Chicken Smoothie, and would be honored to serve among the high ranked if selected.
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required): I can look at both sides of the fence of a situation evenly before making a decisive call. I'm very friendly and willing to help at a moment's notice. I like solving problems, and have an open mind. I can be very kind, as well as firm when needed.

Thank you for the opportunity, and good luck to everyone else applying for the position! :)

What date did you register as a CS member?:
    October 18, 2008

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):
    1589

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval?:

I am indeed old enough and willing to shield the CS community from undesirable posts and images.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?:

I am active on CS every day, during the week as well as the weekend.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?:

On average, I spend at least five hours per day on CS. More often than not, however, it's more than that.

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them.
I do not moderate for any thread on the CS site, though I am a staff member for the Kiamara species. However, I am currently a moderator for another site, which is primarily thread based at this time. The site itself is currently in alpha phase, and so most information you'll find will have been on the forums. Along with this, the community is still relatively small, so thus far there will be no evidence of my moderating. That said, I will include the link to the forum, as well as the official site.
    Xoizo Forums
    Xoizo Website
I would like to note that though I am an active staff member on this site, I can guarantee that I will have no trouble meeting the requirements for positions as moderators for both sites. I am confident in my ability to manage my schedule to successfully aide users on both sites.

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
I absolutely adore this site. Certainly there are issues here and there, and it's not perfect, but I've found that regardless of who I'm speaking with on this site, they're friendly and welcoming. And it continues to amaze me how incredibly accepting these users are. I joined back in '08, but lost interest after about a year. When I came back, about a year and a half ago, I was absolutely enthralled by the immense progress and life this site had obtained. I would like, more than anything, to be able to contribute to this amazing progress and welcoming community. I feel that my abilities to act as mediator would be a great way to aide this site and it's users, in becoming an even greater community.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?)
From elementary school through high school I have been involved in student councils. I've done things from daily chores, to secretary work, and even to holding meetings, but I have found that I prefer jobs that enable me to bring peace to the group I'm working with. I can't say I've ever received official training (unless we're counting Franklin R. Covey's book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People; I have read that in it's entirety), but I have spent years involved in groups and organizations, in which I frequently acted as the moderator and communicator. As an individual, I find a peculiar sense of satisfaction in helping to avert a disaster, as well as helping two feuding individuals see their opposite's viewpoint. Truly, there's nothing more satisfying to me that diffusing a potentially troublesome situation, especially when it involves kind people who may have simply misunderstood one another. Again, I am confident that I would be able to maintain a composed attitude when dealing with potential issues, while also being as friendly and kind as possible.

Thank you so much for this opportunity! I look forward to meeting our new moderators, and I wish you all the best of luck in finding them and developing this site into an ever greater community.

1. What date did you register as a CS member?: Sept 26th 2008

2. How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 12023

3. Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Yes I am old enough, and I have no problems with viewing adult content.

4. How many days a week do you usually visit CS? Every single day.

5. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
I am online a minimum of 5 hours a day, but i'm usually on all day. I have quick access to my PC and my iPad, which allows me to multi-task if needed. I enjoying spending my spare time on CS.

6. Have you moderated on any other forums before? I have been an admin and moderator of very small sites, but to be honest, that isn't much in the way of experience. I am very eager to take on the challenge.

7. Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
I am applying for Global Moderator position because I feel like if I could do more I could help more.
I like making friends, I'm funny and I enjoy CS as a whole. I am patient and friendly, I am not judgemental or prejudiced, and, I am capable of taking rude comments without letting it effect me.
Users who try to take the fun out of CS are one of my pet peeves and I wish I could do more to help stem that negativity, and to make CS a safe, fun and welcoming environment.
I have been a General Helper for 3 years, and in that time I have become more knowledgeable of what is and is not acceptable on CS, and I would like to take my current position that one step further. I may not enjoy enforcing the rules, but I am more than willing to be firm, but considerate, if I was given the chance.

8. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position?: I have extensive customer service experience in the real world, and I can apply that to the position of Global Moderator. I have nothing but the utmost respect for all the moderators and admins, and I would respect the team, the members and the position. Being a moderator is not child's play for me. It would be a lot of hard work, and I would be more than willing to go that extra mile.

I do have an infant child, but he sleeps for over 10 hours a day, and when he is asleep and I am awake, I am usually on my computer having me time, and I can think of nothing else I would rather be doing than helping make CS a safe and clean environment, when I get some time to myself.

I also plan on going back to work towards the end of the year, but this shouldn't affect my online time too greatly. I wouldn't apply for this position if I didn't think I could commit 100%.

3.Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval:[b/]
Yes.

[b]4.How many days a week do you usually visit CS?

Normally, I am on everyday except for Saturday mornings and a few Tuesdays.

5.How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
Normally on average, I am on 5 hours or more a day.

6.Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
I have only moderated on Things That Annoy you threads( A lot, to be honest), but mostly it was sending in Help tickets and such to spam/fights/bullying.

7.Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
Honestly, I love Chickensmoothie and would love to help out and such. I am responsible and civilized, and am positive that I can try my hardest and do a good job at this. I am very friendly and love to help out with moderating, so what is better then being one myself? ^^ I have also helped and reported multiple things to help out and clean up a little.

8.Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position
I am very patient with people, and understand when they get tangled up into a situation. I am also a Admin of a site my friend and I have made, so I do that care of business with things a lot. I can be professional and I don't get angry easily, so that is a good thing when handling situations with rather tight people.

What date did you register as a CS member?: 15 Jun 2010 00:26

How many posts have you made in the forum: 2586, in the last year I have become more active due to joining groups/clubs and making a few friends.

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Yes and yes.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS? Usually seven days a week, I roam around here while doing art.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? Three to four during weekdays and four plus during weekends.

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them. No

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? To be truthful it's something I have always wanted to do. I want to try and help others when they need it. Expescially now since this site has really grown since I first joined. It would give me an oppurtuinity to make new friends on here and to keep coming back. (I doubt that I would want to leave here, so many interesting people.)

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position? I've had to teach younger kids a variety of things, mainly art and self defense. I'm a very patient person when it comes to trying to help others out and break up fights. I've handled supervising first graders through mass.

What date did you register as a CS member?: July 17, 2010

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):956

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Yes.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS? Everyday.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? Anywhere from 3-5 hours.

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them No.

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? I've been on CS since 2010, and would love to be more involved. I love problem solving and helping people, so I think it would be a great opportunity. I always try to find ways to help other people that will benefit both parties (in this case CS and the user). I would work with a disgruntled user with a complaint, calmly to, first, calm them down and try to work out a solution together. I also want to work to keep CS clean and free from spam or adult material. Children today are exposed to enough of that elsewhere on TV, magazines, movies, video games, etc. It's so important to have a place where parents and kids don't have to worry about seeing adult things or reading adult language. I would love to be a part of keeping CS clean. That includes dealing with users who are breaking the rules. I am very much a rules follower, and do not appreciate it when others try to take advantage of the system or other people. I would let them know sternly, but respectfully that their actions are not appreciated and are against the rules. All in all, I think it would be a fun and stimulating job.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position? I have lots of experience dealing with difficult people or even situations where I have to not be offended by the words or actions of another person. I am very strong willed with a thick skin. I've done theatre for almost my entire life, so am no stranger to rejection. Being insulted or having a user angry at you is much the same as being rejected. You have to not take what they say to heart, and stick to your guns. While they might say cruel things or make you feel bad, you have to deflect what they say. I would consider myself excellent at doing that.
Image

Would to God I could stay and instead slay your dragon,
This beast who sits hunched on your back.

As it is I must leave you in care of my brother,
The wizard, who lives on the hill,
Who has promised his art,
Will soon pierce through the heart
Of this dragon that's keeping you ill.

And you know that as soon as I can I'll return,
So be brave, son, and know that I long
To race you to the top of the morning!
Come, sit on my shoulders and ride.
Run and hide, I'll come and find you,
Climb hills to remind you
I love you, my boy at my side!

What date did you register as a CS member?:
Oct 13, 2010

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):
1,686

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval:
Yes

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
7 days a week

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
A little less than 2 hours

Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them:

I have quite a bit of forum moderating experience. I started out on a pretty large help site/forum for Horse Isle. The site is called Esroh Legends and it was not officially run by Horse Isle, but it was the biggest site to go to for help with quests and things pertaining to Horse Isle. Unfortunately I grew out of the game and left the help site as a retired Moderator or Squad Member as they liked to call us.

Besides moderating for another persons forum, I have moderated several of my own forums. All of which are down and no longer running.

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?

I have been with Chicken Smoothie for 3 years now and since 2010 CS has been my addiction. I want to be able to help out on one of my favorite sites and see it a safe place for everyone. It means so much to me to see this site grow everyday.

I would like to be a moderator, mainly because I feel I can help with bettering the community. I feel that I have the skills needed to help and I would enjoy helping as much as I can everyday to ensure that the forums are a happy place for everyone. I'm knowledgeable in lots of forum functions as well as Chicken Smoothie in general. I also understand the site and art rules very clearly. I am also knowledgeable in BBcode and basic HTML code. If ever it is needed I know how to use it. And to be honest, I do only spend 2 hours on the site as of now, but it is out of lack of things to do that I log off. I am willing to dedicate a huge chunk of my time to help out in any way that I can.

I'm also wanting to be a moderator, not to be called a moderator, but because I have A LOT of free time during the day and night to do nothing. I am looking for something productive to spend my time doing and I feel that this job would be fun, but also rewarding (to know that I am helping a community that I love).

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?)

I am not easily offended and I can handle most offending words that may be directed towards me. I am unbiased in situations. I always see both sides of a situation. I don't have experience in peer mediation, but I am the one that my friends go to to dispute a fight.

Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Yes

How many days a week do you usually visit CS? 7

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? Monday-Friday: a 6-7 hour average between the hours of 10am EST and 12am EST. Sometimes events make this less but generally speaking. Saturday and Sunday: off and on between the hours 8pm EST and 2am EST. I am a stay at home mom during the week and I work a part time job on the weekends. CS is currently the only forum based game I "play" on a regular basis.

Have you moderated on any other forums before? No

Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? I would like the experience, I very much enjoy the site, and I love helping people. I think I could be really good at moderating and I would really enjoy it.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) I did take a few college psychology classes and a communications class. Taking these classes has helped me learn how to best communicate with people and how to keep a situation calm. I've also worked in public services, hospitality, and food service.
