Servatis;; Karmi | Edge of camp
Karmi lurked at the edge of camp. She didn’t care to join the others in their talk, only to watch them. Two of the pack would be the holy bloods, saviours of the packs against the Dark Wolf. She didn’t know or care how but the power of prophecy was not her gift so she could not judge. But she could make plans of her own. Plans to make sure at least some of the pack survived the upcoming battle.
The large black female was of medium rank, important, but expandable. Karmi was the lead hunter; the one who made sure the pack was kept alive and healthy. No hunt, no food, no wolves. That is what made her important to the running of Servatis. She knew all the hunting patterns, and knew her hunters strengths as well as her own. She was the hunter. She needed to know this.
Karmi shook herself and looked to the forest. A small rabbit was next to her, coming closer. Prey was scarce since Maleficum had started to steal it from within their territory. She raised herself into a pouncing position, judging the distance between her and her prey. Her nose wrinkled, she could smell the rabbit’s lack of fear. It hadn’t noticed her yet. The brown, speckled rabbit was a meter away now. She could reach it with ease. But still she waited.
The rabbit was 50 centimetres away. Karmi made her move. A silent leap, a small rustle of a chase, a crack of the breaking of a neck then... silence. The red stain on the grass was ignored by Karmi as she approached the group of wolves at camp. The rabbit was slung over her neck, and she had bloody jaws. Catching the rabbit was a small feat, but the pack would be grateful for any extra food.
