This is by far one of the best original species I've seen on CS. Perfect balance of adorable-ness and awesome-ness. I have my fingers crossed that I will one day own one of my own! I can't wait to see more from you both :3

I have a question though - do these creatures ever interact with humans? You say no human has ever seen them, so are they safe from hunters? They never come across human buildings/technologies?

thank you very much! eue
I'de say yes they are safe from hunters((but wazi you can conform or deny this if you feel differently)). They're like a lot less publicized big foot, (minus the endless legends and crappy TV shows about finding them) and are really only a dominant legend in the Native American community.
I believe we decided that they have been spotted only a couple times by humans, but would usually be mistaken for on odd bear if seen(or a spirit bear in the case of Native Americans) and probably not payed too much mind by the hunting community.

Thank you for the in-depth explanation! Another thing that I would like to know (for the purpose of applications) is how long do the cubs stay with their parents, and at what age are they considered fully grown and form their own family groups?

Sorry for all the questions. As I said before I love this species ^^

(Alona I think this is what we were missing dskfjhbdfgkfdgb ehehe)
We've already discussed this but forgot to post the information, sorry bout that ^^
cubs may stay with their parents for up to 5 years (until full-grown) and then become solitary to live on their own. But if they form a family group, they stay with their family forever c:
Adult Dakoya's can form their own family group, if they choose to, at any point in life. Most often though, we see non-permanent relationships as they choose weather to mate for life or not. Their mating behavior is most like a real bear, mating with whoever happens to walk by when they are in season, and if they are worthy.

Thank you very much! This should help on applications :3 I'll be sure to ask if I think of anything else lol

If anyone has missed it, Wazaiyata has posted the first Dakoya! If you wish to apply for him, its recommended you fill out and post your form ASAP so that you dont miss the deadline!

------

Just to clear everything up as simple as possible. Normally wazi and i will state on each Dakoyas adopt page if the particular animal will be solitary, partnered, or in a family group. For Dakoya #1 wazi is letting you decide because (she is nice) it is the first adopt ever.

Family Groups= (This is less common than solitary, or partnered dakoyas) Dakoya, his/her mate, and their cubs will live and hunt in a group until death or the cubs find their own mates.

Solitary Dakoyas= Dakoya will find a mate, live with said mate until cubs are born and raised. Then the Dakoya will part with mate and cubs once cubs are old enough to go out on their own. Solitary Dakoyas may find another mate and have a new litter with their new mate.

Partnered Dakoyas= (Most common form of Dakoya relationships) Dakoya will find a mate and mate for life. If the pair has cubs, they will seperate from the cubs once they are of age to live alone.

I've added the info above to our News and Announcements section temporarily if you wish to refer to this information again

So thy can choose to have mates for life, but they mostly just do what normal bears do, correct? Just to clarify C:

Most will find a permanent mate, but only live with cubs until the cubs can go out on their own.
Others will do what normal bears do, and mate (up to 3 times) with a different mate.
And others will form small packs, similar to what dingos do, but these packs consist only of family.

hope that makes sense? c:
