(Aha, yeah -that's because our school is laptop-based, and it provides them, and all the repair services as well -as long as you had the foresight to invest in insurance. XD Oh, no -I don't think I'd be able to get by for a year without a computer! D: It's excellent you got a new one at last, though. c: And, that's perfectly fine!
Sorry for the delay in my own reply -I just finished the 30 hour famine, and I couldn't work up any muse at all yesterday, what with my grumbling stomach. Dx)

A small, hesitant smile quirked the corners of Ari's lips as Krystal's eyes widened with surprise -it was a rather funny (if extremely unfortunate) way to obtain an injury. His attention was snagged by Serenity as she opened her mouth, beginning to voice something, but dropping off into silence after merely uttering a single letter. I what?, he wondered. Gaze flickering between her and Krystal, Ari let himself marvel at their differences. Short and tall, light-skinned and dark, extroverted and reserved. It was amazing, how two people raised in much the same circumstances -or so he assumed- could grow up so different.
Serenity kicked the snow, head turning to face the ground. Ari felt a twinge of sympathy for the shorter girl -she reminded him so much of himself, it was almost unnerving. But, whilst Serenity commanded his compassion, Krystal had his envy. It wasn't fair, the level of confidence she exuded; assured and open. If only he had the capacity to channel that -maybe then, would his opinions be heard.
The silence was beginning to stretch out, and whilst Ari usually relished a lack of sound, it was rather taut in company. He began to consider opening his mouth to speak, and thus shatter it, but no words came to mind. His mouth opened nevertheless, almost against his will, hanging open as if he believed he could catch the right words with it, like fish with a net.
All of a sudden, he became aware of another girl approaching their cluster, and his mouth snapped shut with an audible click. Brown eyes narrowed in scrutiny of the newcomer. She was tall -taller than Krystal, taller than he (again, another spike of resentment), with dark blonde hair, and fair skin and features. Sharp green eyes shone in her face. With a nod at the group, the girl reached back and pulled three salmon from her pack. Ari's eyebrows rose in surprise. Fish? Where had she gotten fish? She launched straight into conversation without introduction, and his eyes roved over the pink-bellied creatures, stomach growling its approval. He hadn't even been aware of the echoing cavern in his belly -but, suddenly, it was very much present. "Er, okay," Ari fumbled, head bobbing in agreement. "That-" He paused, looking over at his companions for back-up. "-that sounds good. I think."

Head jerking painfully upwards in reaction to a sudden noise to her side, the mountain lion struggled to her paws, ruff raising hostilely on the back of her neck, and claws unsheathing in the snow. Gwendolyn bared her teeth feebly, ears flattening against her head, and golden eyes narrowing in a combination of pain and animosity. A stocky, brown creature stood at a distance, looking for all the world like a small bear. Wolverine, her mind supplied sluggishly, the word accompanied by a spike of pain. Her gaze roved over the formidable, white claws poking out from the long brown fur of his paws, and the muscles still visible through the thick pelt. Even in the best of health, an altercation with this beast would be difficult. Gwendolyn was not certain who would come out on top -but she did know she would rather not test her hypothesis.
"Who are you?" she hissed with rancour, feeling distinctly unsteady on her paws. Unease rose in her -she didn't like not having complete lucidity in potentially-dangerous encounters. Her skull gave another insistent throb, and Gwnedolyn tensed, trying not to wince visibly. Go away, she yowled silently. Go away, away, away. She would prefer not to have to voice that statement aloud -hopefully her body language would supply it clearly enough. This impromptu meeting was stacked against her favour, and the feline was eager to end it as quickly and cleanly as possible. Let the beast lumber on in whatever direction he had been going, and leave her here in the snow to gather her strength.
Wait. A thought sparked along her neural pathways, giving her sudden pause. Was this wolverine a Guide, as well? Her gaze narrowed even further, eyes merely slits now, ice-sharp slivers of gold. Tail tip flicking behind her at a rapid and regular pace, like a metronome beating out 6/8 time. He could be. He looked the age for it; no white hairs lightened the dark of his muzzle, and, whilst rather large already, there was a chance he hadn't reached his full size yet. Gwendolyn didn't know -wolverines thrived in cold environments naturally. It would be a mistake to theorize without further data. So, the mountain lion swallowed the question, fighting back the pain in her head as she awaited a response.
