The Unaluna are said to be decedents of the unicorns. As the story tells, they are actually unicorns, but their newly changed form; though they can never change back. It is said that this happened during the dark times, when unicorns were hunted down for their horns and magic.
---
A long time ago, during the dark time, the unicorns realized that their numbers were dropping. They knew in the matter of time there would be no unicorns lefts. They all panicked, scared for themselves and for their species, though then one unicorn, an elder, came out and spoke. This unicorn suggested they change forms, to hide their true identity. Their size and looks were easy to be spotted, it was a disadvantage for them. Though there was a catch if they changed their forms, since it was frowned upon to do so. They would lose a good amount of their magic, and also will never be able to change back to their original forms.
At first the unicorns did not agree with the idea, but as time wore on and their numbers continued to drop, they finally decided that this was their last option. They unicorns couldn't change themselves into their new form, another must change them, then another would have to change that unicorn, and so on. So then it began, them changing themselves into a new form. After many weeks and months of changing, they all were changed. Except for one, since no one could change that unicorn.
That unicorn was the last unicorn. But that's a different story.
---
The unicorns did not know what they would turn into, for the change of a unicorns form was never done before. Surprisingly, all the unicorns turned into the same form -
They has the body of a stocky canine surprisingly, but had the mane and tail of a unicorn. Their size is very small though, the size of a rodent. Their coat and mane were shiny, soft, and beautiful. Their coat colors varied, usually a natural color with any markings or no markings, but that was rare. Their manes came in all different colors. They still had their horn, which could still perform some magic luckily, for it was needed. Though strangely, on their side was a set of four white orbs, each one a different size. When magic was performed, those orbs glowed either white, green, red, and blue.
After awhile, they realized they could only perform simple magic, such as moving objects, short time floating, and etc.

After a few weeks and months, they realized that the seasons weren't changing. Winter seemed to take far too long, and spring should have already started to show. This event disturbed the new formed unicorns, and also all the species around. It was known to be the worst winters of the dark times, and its marked down in history.
It used to be the unicorns job for the changing of the seasons, but now since there were none around to do so, the seasons wouldn't change.
But, something miraculous happened, or more realized. These newly formed unicorns could perform one magic greater then what they have now; to change the weather. With this new news, these creatures began to work, taking their new job as season changers with full responsibility.
Though, only certain types of seasons can be performed by each of these creatures. Some can only do winter magic, others can only do summer, others can only do spring, and others could only do autumn. This marked the beginning of their destiny's and new way of life for these creatures. It also marked the beginning of their separation.
---
After about a year of their new forms, they came up with their species new name; the Unaluna. They named themselves after the unicorn who proposed the idea of changing forms, which in the end saved them all.
This was a beginning of happy times for them, enjoying their new found safety in their new forms and the exciting new task they have acquired on changing the seasons. Though, it was only short lived.
After some time, the Unaluna realized the Winter Unaluna's were gaining more members, their population growing. With the growing population, winters became larger, seasons were colder. The other Unaluna's feared of their growing power, so they took action. The Spring and Summer Unaluna's declared to demolish the Winter Unaluna's, to protect their season. Some of the Autumn Unaluna's sided with them, but some of the others sided with the Winter Unaluna's.
The Winter Unaluna's lost, giving up in defeat as their numbers were dramatically cut down. Today Winter Unaluna's are the rarest, for their kind has yet to not build up its numbers. There is still tension between those seasons today.
Today, these Unaluna's live in peace, or close to it. They keep hidden in their homes, coming out to help with the weather and seasons. They are the reason the for change of color of the leaves in autumn, the snow fall in the winter, the start of the fresh grass and flowers in the springs, and the warm breeze in the summer. For now, their identity is much hidden from the world.
They would like to keep it that way.
