Owner: soulBridge.
Gender: Female
Breedable: ~
Type: Celtic Knot Elkrin

Beauty and Brains

The Celtlands and its inhabitants are celebrating their own holiday for a very special occasion! The Celtic Knot Elkrin have returned to the land, and even though their numbers have greatly fallen, two new fawns promise a bright future for this species. The Day of the Saints is to celebrate the union between the many species of Eldemore and it's people, it is also a day to drink and be marry as the vibrant people of the Celtlands hold festivities and rejoice in one another's company. One such happy occasion is the birth of twin fawns, their markings true to their Celtic Knot name, they have been brought out into the open in hopes that their future riders may be decided on this special day. This little female is curious and wise for one so young. She is adorned with silver and emerald jewelry. While she may look the part of a pretty and well behaved doe to be, she has an inner strength and fire. Do not expect her to be still and quiet. Let's hope that she can stay out of trouble and refrain from wandering off before the festivities begin.

:Form:

Name:

Andraste "Andra"

Possibly means "invincible" in Celtic. This was the name of a Briton goddess of victory who was invoked by Boudicca before her revolt.

Breedable:

Yes, with conditions that I will be very picky with choosing a mate for her.

Short Story:

I was a warrior, a female warrior at that, meaning, the men looked down on me because I was a woman. But I didn't care, I would prove myself, one day, this day. It was the Celtic Festival this year, and all the best warriors were competing for the new born Elkrin Fawns. I was going for the male. Imagine me, riding on a brilliant handsome Celtic Knot Stag! I wouldn't ever be looked down on riding that beauty. I would be the star among the warriors! I would be the best.

My eyes looked towards the small male sitting on his little throne, he held his head bravely, unafraid of everything, but also he was a curious one, any fawn would be. He kept trying to escape but the guards wouldn't let him, causing him to snort. I smirked, he was my prize for sure. His dazzling green fur, and his golden markings! He was perfect for me. However, I did look towards the young female on the throne beside him. She was covered in silver and emerald jewelry like a little princess. She wore a slightly curious look in her eyes, though she kept looking off, a perfect well behaved breeder no doubt. I rolled my eyes, surely not for me! I needed one with a sense of adventure! Bravery! Dashing wits! And of course, a fire burning inside of them.

The male was that fit, the female was far to well behaved for my liking. The riders would be chosen by showing off their skills, those who showed off to the fawns liking would be chosen to ride them. The competition was about to start soon, so I went on my way to get something to eat before it began. As I ate I suddenly heard a shriek in the distance, at first I wanted to ignore it and finish my meal, but upon hearing, "The fawns are gone!", I dropped my food and raced towards the Prize Thrones, and indeed both fawns were missing.

"Were they stolen?" I asked, "I-I don't know" the woman yelped, "I turned for only a moment, when the guards were knocked down" she said. "They escaped on their own" one guard groaned, "That fawn ran through me" he sighed, "The other followed" he sighed. I smirked, the male was the one who ran, the female obviously followed after him. "We need to find them!" The woman gasped, "We can't go ahead with the competition without them" she said sadly. "I'll find them" I said, "You?" The guard laughed, "Your just a girl, why don't you go sit on the side and let the men find them" he said, I glared at him.

"Says the man who let them escape in the first place, so be a good little boy and stand aside while a real woman finds them" I smirked and walked from him. Though I knew my words wouldn't go unpunished, he'd come after me for sure, hence why I left so fast. But I had to work swiftly tracking the male otherwise some other guy might find him first and I couldn't let that happen. I ran though the forest, I heard a bush rustle and ran towards it, a rabbit hopped out.

I growled in disappointment, I sighed, this was getting me no where and I could hear the others searching in the distance. I started to run again, that is until I ran and tripped on something, I yelped and put my hands up for defense as I fell, I landed with a thud and groaned a bit, "Ow, what the?" I asked and opened my eyes, I was a bit dizzy, my vision hazed a bit. I shook my head and looked up, I came face to face with something green and golden and at first my eyes widened, excitement flew on my face. It was an Celtic Elkrin fawn... But not the one I was looking for, the excitement melted, and was replaced with disdain. "Oh it's you" I said, it was the female fawn.

She stared down at me, and rolled her eyes, shaking her head, 'Oh it's you' she repeated and started to trot off, I glared, how dare she use my words against me. She may be the female, but I still had to bring her back. I got up and walked after her. "Your coming back with me, after we find that male" I said, 'No way' she said, it was then I noticed she wasn't acting like the well behaved princess she was earlier. "Excuse me?" I asked.

'You heard me' she said, 'I'm sick of sitting like a pampered princess, just to end up being a sinuous breeder, I would rather go on my own! I don't need a rider' she said. I blinked, surprised and also confused because she was using large words, like sinuous? Isn't she like, really young? 'What are you gawking at?' The female asked tilting her head, "Nothing" I said whipping the look on my face. 'Okay' the female said trotting off, a look of fire in her eyes, 'Go back to your silly festival' she noted, "Not without you and that male" I said to her, "I'm going to win the male, after we find him, after all he was brave enough to escape" I said, "he's the kind I want" I said, 'He escaped? If it wasn't for me he'd be still sitting there day dreaming' the female said.

"What?" I said, 'I knocked down the guard so I could get away, that idiot just followed me but got himself lost' she said to me, 'He doesn't know how to navigate like I do, in fact he's probably still lost in one of those tents' she added. I blinked, "No way!" I said in disbelief, 'Yes. I can prove it to' she added, "How?" I asked, 'Easy, I'll allow you to take me back, I'll easily find him' she said. "I'd like to see that' I smirked, clearly she had no idea, but I was curious enough to take her offer, plus it would get her back to the festival.

I walked her back, but instead of bringing her right out, I snuck her back inside the grounds, "Find him then" I whispered to her, she snorted, 'Fine' she said back, she looked around with her emerald green eyes watching the tents, she moved swiftly, I actually got a good look as she did. Her golden Celtic markings were so... Interesting, intricate, and unique, the look her in eyes, the jewelry she wore; though she was very beautiful, was not that of a calm breeder, but a hidden warrior.

I couldn't believe my thoughts. I shook my head, she was just a breeder, nothing more. I was certain. But then, she stuck her head inside the tent and walked back out with the little male. My eyes widened, she had found him, in the same place she said. I walked to them, "You.. Actually found him..." I said, 'Well of course, I am a lot smarter then I look, I may be a girl, but that doesn't mean I'm useless' she snorted, I looked down, I realized then, she was just like me, looked down on because she was a girl, just like I was, and what was worst because of my pride, I treated her like she was just a girl. Just like me...

I ended up taking them back to the throne, though they tried to run I called others to help me. We got them to the throne and this time they had collars on to keep them there. I looked at them, the male was trying to chew on the rope, and the female was looking bored on the throne. I sighed, perhaps I was wrong to judge them. But I was still determined to win the stag. I worked hard and fought in the competition showing off my skills. I won.

I walked to throne and looked at the male and the female, I was allowed to chose which one I wanted since I found them. I started towards the male, but stopped myself, I looked at the female, she gazed up at me. If I wanted to prove females were just as good as males, I knew I needed to do the right thing. I kneeled towards the female, "I know we don't get along... But, you want to go on adventure, you don't want to be just a breeder and I'm the same as you, I don't want to just be treated like a girl, I won the competition, I worked hard, and... I admire your attitude, will you do me the honor of allowing me to be your rider?" I asked, she thought about it, 'I accept' she said at last, I smiled and got up, "I have chosen the female, and she has accepted me back" I announced, the crowd cheered for me, I was actually... Happy for this moment, I looked at her and unhooked her rope and she walked to my side gazing up at me. "What will you name her?" A woman asked me, the same woman who screamed about them being missing. "I think... Andraste" I said, "Good choice" she said, 'Andraste... I accept, under the condition that I may be called Andra for short' the fawn said, I nodded, "She accepts, as long as we call her Andra for short" I said, the woman smiled, "Andra huh? She's cute" she said, Andra smiled and licked the woman's hand. How was it she was so gentle with others but was stubborn with me?, "What's with that?" I whispered to her, as we walked away, 'What?' she asked cheerily, "The lick for her? But all I get is a stubborn attitude?" I asked. 'Well, I can be nice, but your also so stubborn, and only a more stubborn person can control you' she smirked, I gawked at her, the cheeky little fawn! I sighed, "Touche" I said walking with her, beaten by a little fawn, how sad. She smiled up at me. 'I guess we will be like the brawn and the brains' she noted, I looked at her and smirked, "Sounds good to me, as long as I'm the brains" I joked, 'you wish' she smirked trotting off, I walked after her, the male would be chosen to someone else, but I didn't mind anymore. I had a spunky girl, who I would ride one day. That was good enough to me.

Edit;; it's gotten a good deal more hectic around here, and I've got my hands full with my real animals, so I'll be dropping out this round. Thanks for the extension Jen, but I just can't get the story how I want it.

    Best of luck everyone!!

And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Great clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above

Oh where do we begin?
The rubble or our sins?

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

Okay, I've decided on trying out for this girl <3
Image

:Form:

Name:

Elise
(From the title of the famous classical piece, "Für Elise," which translates to "For Elise.")

Breedable:

When she grows, yes.

Short Story:

Word count: 1,525

I stood outside the stables like I was instructed to. Just a few hours ago, I was thinking about setting up temporary shop near the Celtlands to sell some trinkets. I could’ve made some good profit out of doing that, since it was the ceremony. But that ceremony is why I’m here in front of a stable right now. Some official asked me if I was busy. Not trying to be rude, I replied that I was not too busy. So he tells me, “Great, we got somethin’ for you to do!” and drags me on over to this stable. A foul scent drifted near me, and I winced as if it was a physical attack. I’m not used to roaming around near stables. I tend to stay away from places like these…
I saw an old man hobbling toward me, waving at me to notice him. I greeted him with a small wave. He mumbled a greeting and led to into the stable.
“So, here’s where the newborn Elkrin are,” the old man huffed, leading me in. “There’re twins this year, it seems,” he noted, nodding at the two fawns in the stable.
“Come here. Lemme show you the fawn you’re working with today…”
He called them the Celtic Knot Elkrin. “With the whole Elkrin population drop, it’s nice to see some little ‘uns born into this world now and then,” the old man noted. I nodded my head in the affirmative. He led me to a slight fawn, a female it seemed.
“Well, she’s here for the ceremony today! And we gotta make her look her best,” the man said, handing me some silver jewelry. “When you’re done, you bring her out here, you hear?” He patted me on the back and sauntered off to instruct others on what else to do. Right before leaving, he turned around and chuckled. “Oh yes,” he said, remembering something. “She responds to Elise. That’s her name. Right, right…” he murmured, turning back around and sauntering back to work.
I got onto my knees and outstretched my arms to try and coax the fawn toward me. “Come ‘ere, Elise,” I called out to her. She shuffled her way toward me, with a slight hesitation as she stopped before me. I ruffled the fur on her head as I smiled at the fawn. “Today’s a big day for you, isn’t it, Elise?” I asked, brushing her fur. “You get to choose your Rider today,” I said. “Pretty big ceremony being prepared for you,” I commented. The fawn butted my hand that held the silver jewelry. She looked up at me like she was expecting something to magically fly out of my hands. With a little grin, I opened my hands to reveal the jewelry.
“See that?” I said, holding the jewelry up. “It’s to make you look pretty for the ceremony.” I set down all of the jewelry and picked up the silver bracers. She edged away from me, her eyes tinted with a hint of fear. Puzzled, I inched my way toward her, yet she still kept edging away from me with every step I took.
Then, I had a strange sensation that something was pressing against my own mind. A voice rang in my head, soft and desperate.
Please, don’t put it on me, it said. After looking around to figure out where the voice was coming from, I finally realized it must be the fawn’s doing.
“Well, don’t you want to be ready and look nice?” I asked, putting my hand on Elise’s shoulder.
I… I just don’t want to wear the jewelry, she said. It’s pretty, it really is… But, she continued, her voice getting harder, I can’t touch it.
I gave her a quizzical look and asked why. Well, you see, she said, struggling to find the words to express herself, it’s just that… I don’t want to wear it. It doesn’t represent me. They want me to be still all the time and compliant, just like royalty. Always perfect. But that is not who I am, and I don’t want to be bound to something that will not represent me.
I held the silver wrist bracers in my hand, and slowly an idea formed in my head. I smiled and sat crisscross in front of the fawn. She cocked her head to one side, as she tried to determine what my grin meant. “Here, tell you what,” I said, patting her head, “let’s see if we can make it mean something different. Something that fits you,” I said, tapping my nose. A confused smile crossed the fawn’s face.
“Look, silver wrist bracers; reminding you to always be quick on your feet but to always stop whenever there’s someone in need of help. Because helping someone is a sign of strength, not weakness,” I said, securing them on the fawn’s legs. I picked up the tail pieces and held them up and showed them to her. “To remind you to always carry your tail with dignity,” I said, grinning. “If that made sense.”
“And, here. Earrings. To remind you to always listen and be alert,” I said, clipping them onto each ear. Her ear flattened and twitched, as they were getting used to the earrings.
“And lastly,” I said, holding up the necklace, “a necklace. A heart of emerald encased in silver. To always remind you that you are a gem of life. Unique. And no one can take it away from you. Know why?" I asked her. She shook her head. "Because," I replied, "you are strong like silver. But flexible, flexible as well. So that you can adapt to situations quickly, but still be strong." I fastened the necklace on the fawn, and smiled. The fawn dipped her head and nuzzled against me.
Thank you, she said, her happiness radiating. I thought I would feel...like I was forced to wear them. Now I see that everything can have a meaning, a story...an adventure within it. I will be proud wearing them to the ceremony, she said.
I hugged her, cradling her in my arms. "Glad I could help. Now," I said, standing up, "I believe your destiny awaits you, Elise." I led her out of the stable and to another man who would lead her to the stage. I gave her a little salute and watched as she was being led out. She looked back at me once, and then proceeded up the stage, her head held high.
I walked down to the place I had decided I wanted to sell some of my trinkets. But now, most of the people who wished to attend the ceremony are already there, so there really was nothing else to do. Besides, I wanted to see Elise pick her new Rider.
I went down to the ceremony to watch. Her brother was also next to her, him choosing a Rider for himself. I smiled as her brother chose his new Rider. However, Elise had some trouble choosing. Rider after Rider that stepped up was rejected. The officials running the ceremony started to become panicked, wondering what to do if she doesn't choose by the time the day is over. She started to grow restless as well, her tail twitching as she decided to reject the potential Riders that came forth. The commotion that resulted in her indecisiveness kicked up a lot of dust as people started walking around, whispering and becoming panicked. All that dust…
“Achoo!” I sneezed into my arm. ‘Ugh, maybe I should leave,’ I thought. I’ll soon have a sneezing fit!
Elise’s ears perked up from the slight noise in the audience. It seemed like it was off to the left of the audience, near the edge of the crowd. Her eyes skimmed over the crowd, until…
Then, a mind started probing my mind, as if trying to reach out for me. Could it be...?
The fawn leaped into the sea of spectators and squirmed her way toward me. My eyes widened and a smile crossed my face. The officials were looking at each other, bewildered at what was happening. But I knew what was going on.
"Hello, Elise," I whispered, kneeling on one knee to pet her. “Long time no see.”
Hello, she greeted me, Surprised to see me? Because I thought you shouldn’t be. I chuckled, petting her head. “Why yes, a bit. Why does the Elkrin with a heart of emerald want to see me, a trinket seller?”
Because I chose you. she replied. No one else could offer me what you have given me. You gave me a meaning, a story...an adventure to what seemed to be petty little accessories. You can see things in a different perspective, and that's interesting. I like that. She nuzzled against my hand. You take me on an adventure no one else can take me on. And, after thinking long and hard, she continued, nudging my hand, I chose you. A smile crossed my face, and I scooped her up in my arms and hugged her.
“Well,” I said, “let’s go on an adventure, yes? Elise?”
She nodded.
Of course.
