Sidereus

Owner: ℑʜᴇ ℬᴜʀɴɪɴɢ ℛᴏsᴇ
Gender: Female
Breedable: Yes
Type: Illuminated Elkrin

Shine Through the Cracks

This female Elkrin is one of the 'illuminating' types. It is found deep in the forests of Eldemore and gives off a bright glow from within. They are mysterious creatures that, while hardly ever seen, are slightly curious about humans. Although rightfully wary they will watch at a distance if the person is unarmed. This female has a genetic mutation. Instead of round markings from which her light can glow, she has sharp jagged cracks and cream marbled markings that her light flickers through. This can sometimes happen if an illuminated has genetics passed down from another type of Elkrin. Usually Illuminated's are majestic and calm, but this female is very aggressive with a fiery personality. Can you befriend her?

name ;;

her name happens to be Ayelet ;

Ah - yehl - eht

Ayelet is Hebrew for "deer" and while
I would not choose something so
ironic and obvious, I thought it suited
this doe not by the meaning but
by the name itself. It's a strong,
sturdy name, just feminine enough
to not be overly girly. It's a lovely
name, and this is a lovely character. c;

story ;;

Hooves pounded on the forest floor, a rhythmic, distant sound to the Elkrin, whose mind was not on her own speed. She was a blur through the forest trees, weaving in and out gracefully as her slender legs sped wildly. With swiftness and grace she made her way through the thickets and brambles, jumping over fallen logs and ducking her long, slender neck and lowering her sculpted cranium when low branches came overhead. Her slim form slowed only when she emerged from the very thick of the tree lines to a clearer part of the woods. Her gallop slowed to an even canter and she paused only for a brief part of a second before she was off again, so surreal that many would think her to be a mirage.

A pleased squeal erupted from her maw and finally she seemed to be content with her journey having ended. Blinking angelically, she tilted her head upwards to the heavens and viewed them with keen eyes that reflected the blue of the skies. If she had been human, she would have smiled at the majestic quality it possessed. The sunlight streamed steadily through the leaves, as there weren't as many trees to block it out from reaching the forest floor.

A joyous squeal emitted from her once more and she pranced about, head held high as she made her way over to the nearby stream. She bowed her head, tongue lapping out delicately to drink from the burbling stream. The water was fresh, cold, and clean. Refreshed, she licked her maw when she was finished, shaking her head delicately and then bowing it against the nibble upon some grass blades growing fresh and green by the water's bank.

With a small yawn, she finished up her snack and continued to walk, her hooves flattening the grass very little as she delicately walked about, before finding a nice place in the shade and settling down, her legs pulled under her as she laid down in the cool shadows of the tree. Putting down her head, her eyes swiveled as she listened keenly to everything around her. Little sparrows sang on their branches, squirrels and chipmunks chattered loquaciously as if they were intelligent enough to have a conversation about such philosophical things such as life and death. This Elkrin was much more wise and experienced than those woodland creatures ever would.

The air was thick with wafting scents of various flowers such as honeysuckle and lavender that grew wild in the forest. Herbs also tainted the fresh air with a familiar, gentle memory and she could easily identify basil, rosemary, sage, and thyme. She licked the outside of her maw as a hunger coursed through her at the very idea of such vegetation. Her luminous tail flicked back and forth and she tilted her head wisely.

A relaxed atmosphere hung in her surroundings and she calmed her swift heart, which was nearly jumping from her chest after such excitement from her run. Her long ears flicked back and forward, forward and back, and she tilted her head thoughtfully.

Ayelet was wise graceful. Despite this, she was fiery and had a temper to match the severity of how she ran. Untameable. This was not truthful, she knew, but no one would win her trust by ropes. Elkrin bonded in a much more peaceful way, and they had to trust their rider and for their rider to trust them. She already knew there was just one capable of doing that, one that visited her occasionally but hadn't made a move to bond yet; this human was a lass named Rivkah.

Now most Elkrin can manipulate their riders' body masses so they are sleek, slender, and graceful like the Elkrin they ride. However, this girl required no altering of her appearance. She was already skinny, agile, and long-legged. Many had made a rumor that she was a human incarnation of an Elkrin herself. Regardless of whether this was true or not, she had a bold, independent disposition and a quick wit that made her able to keep up with Ayelet's; it helped them to get along well, because not often did the Elkrin find creature nor person that could keep up with her fast pace, figuratively or literally. It was a refreshing change.

Now in this clearing, this cut grove, the Elkrin waited for her friend. She had a good feeling about this human, this intellectual being with respect for the environment and a quick mind. As she laid there, she could hear worn sneakers flattening grass and crunching twigs beneath them, and she knew that this human was being punctual as always. But even as Rivkah stepped out from behind a tree, her casual clothing clean but not at all new, she did not get up. She was tired from her long journey over here and she was sure the human would not mind her retaining her place in the shade. It was a pleasant day, after all, and she would much rather stay put.

A smile formed on the features of the pale female human as she approached the Elkrin, slow and respectful as always. Elkrin were proud creatures, and she, unlike many humans, knew not to offend them. Chuckling, the human reached out a hand, palm out flat, and Ayelet extended her neck out, nuzzling her palm with the tip of her nose. The fingers then cupped around her nose and rubbed there affectionately, before she slipped closer and sat against the large, graceful hoofed creature's form.

"Hello Ayelet."

The human's voice was soft and musical as always, giving her comfort. Her large ears perked, and her head turned toward the human in an alert and patient fashion. This was very good. She nuzzled Rivkah's cheek in greeting, bringing a smile from the girl and an extra pat. They were both more than happy to see each other on such a fine day. "I know, I'm happy to see you as well, friend."

Marmura Pene
pronounced in my head as "marmurrah penny"
Image
Marmura Pene is Romanian, meaning marbled feather. She brings to mind two things for me: Marble, with its natural variety and complexity, its cracks and shadows, and a phoenix, with its life and fire, a symbol of rebirth and passion. She is like a combination of these, a bright flame and a gorgeous, gem-like stone, rolled into an elkrin, majestic and free. She just begs for a tale and history, and whomever wins her, be it me or someone else, will give her one.

I'm sorry, but I'm dropping out due to writer's block. I would love to write a story for this gorgeous doe, but I haven't any muse for her. Good luck to everyone, though!

    "I don't need them," the girl grumbled as she pushed her way through the dense branches of the trees. It was growing darker the farther in she went, but she didn't even notice, too intent on just getting as far away as she could. So maybe she wasn't the best student, maybe she wasn't the best at the activities that went on after classes, but that didn't mean she wasn't just as good as everyone else... Right? It's what she told herself anyway.

    "You couldn't spend a night out there, Kaleena," the girl huffed in mockery to herself as she kept pushing along, the surroundings dark and quiet now. It was what had pushed her out here with no supplies for the night, all alone. "I'll show them!" She huffed. After all, she had what they lacked. Motivation, and a need to prove herself to everyone else.

    Soon enough, the brown haired girl stopped, but not really by her own bidding. Her foot caught on a root, causing Kaleena to go sprawling forward. She sighed as she picked herself up, before sitting down against a tree not far away, curling her knees against her chest. She now realized she couldn't have gone back, even if she wanted to.The girl didn't even know what way town was, not to mention it was completely dark.

    It was a bit darker, a bit scarier than she'd thought it would be, and there were many hours to go. It wasn't long until the girl was growing cold and almost a little frightened, every little sound making her look frantically for the source of it. The darkness pressed in, only serving to remind her just how lonely it was out here. Maybe they were right... The girl gave a soft sigh as she leaned her head back, letting her eyes slowly shut, just halfway however.

    There was no way she could tell how long she sat there, but eventually Kaleena did notice something... Different after a while. She wasn't sure how long it had actually been there, but she opened her eyes slowly to discover what it was.

    There was a light! Kaleena hadn't the faintest idea how long it had been there, or what caused her to finally notice it, but the faint light did bring comfort, and for that small thing she was thankful.

    The girl pushed herself to her feet with some difficulty, limbs stiff with inactivity. She ventured forward to the place where light filtered in from the trees, peering through them in cautious curiosity. What she saw was nothing short of amazing; truly beautiful. An elkrin stood before her, majestic and gleaming. Kaleena knew elkrin existed, but this species... they were all but a myth to the girl. For a few moments, she was struck completely speechless and motionless in awe over the simple beauty before her.

    Finally though, she had enough control over her limbs to dig in her pockets for anything she had to offer up. What she found was disappointing at best- cracker crumbs and a nail- but she did find half a piece of pastry all wrapped up. Granted, a little smushed, but still most likely delicious. She held it out with slightly shaking hands, excitement filling her at the thought that the elkrin might step forward and take it from her own hand.

    The elkrin that had clearly known she was there stepped forward delicately; slowly, cautiously extended its neck to take the offered food. The girl jumped as it bit her in the process, giving the creature a reproachful look, although she wouldn't say anything. She was just lucky it had allowed itself to be seen. Up close she could see the fine details of its coat, the fine cracks making such pretty patterns. Kaleena frowned, when instead of acting or seeming even slightly greatful, the doe turned quickly, tossing her head and prancing out of reach, and Kaleena could have sworn that she was being laughed at. "Fine," she grumbled. "I don't need you either." All she received was a snort.

    Kaleena sat back against her tree once more, and that's where she stayed the rest of the evening, watching the doe through the trees.

    The doe stayed there the rest of the night, and when Kaleena returned home the next morning, after much tramping through the woods, she was too distracted to really take notice of the praise she received of being able to spend a night out there, which was usually what she would have longed for. She wasn't so much in need of the attention, but rather the notion that she was the same as them, that they accepted her... The girl went straight to the libraries to research, which was most out of character. Most times she would have found the boys straight away to get in on the rough games they played. She spent the day in there, trying to find word of what might have caused the different patterns upon the elkrin's coat.

    That night, and every one after that she repeated the actions of the first night, although she did bring supplies and better food to offer to the doe. Every night, she received the same from the doe. It seemed she was terribly amused with the efforts of the human girl, but it only frustrated her and gave her more reason to go out there every night. She became subject of even more teasing as the week went on, considering all the time she spent out in the woods and in the library, unwilling to tell why. She paid them no mind however, and only continued.

    The third night, the elkrin allowed Kaleena to touch her. It was probably the best thing she'd ever felt.

    After many, many nights the elkrin, so strong and resistant to charming bowed down for the human girl, allowing the girl to gently slip onto her back. Kaleena could hardly believe it! after all this work, she was finally- finally, chosen to be the rider of such a majestic, beautiful elkrin. It only made it better that she knew she had worked for it, she had earned it. She'd never seen or heard of one so wholly beautiful, and she realized that not many had seen an elkrin with such patterns. As the elrkin bore her out of the forest with pride- both of them full of it- she was met with awe, and she realized- if not a little too late- that she didn't need to be like everyone else, or even accepted by them to be special. Neither did the elkrin now at her side, and together, different and a little unsure of themselves, they'd do just wonderfully. They'd help each other along.

:The Deviant Doe:
Name:
Faven Lotus Eveline
Her Nicknames are Eveline, Faven, Louts, Glowbird, and Goldie. In this form, I will just be refering to her as Eveline.
All of these names in her full name mean light. She is an Illuminated doe, so I figured she should have a name that ment light. But since you described her as a deviant from the norm of her species, I decided that the names couldn't be too nice and pretty. After spending a while picking through the names, I came up with Faven, Lotus, and Eveline. But I couldn't decide on one, so I just put all three of them togeather, hence the name "Faven Lotus Eveline".
Breedable:
Yes, but only with the right male. She already has her eyes set on a few, but I will have to make the final decision for her. Her judgment is somewhat...blurred.
Background Info.
Before you read the story, there is some stuff you should know about Luz and Eveline. Luz is a nomad from Darak'i who's hair is a sandy blonde to match her homeland's ground color. She roams the land of Eldemore looking for adventure, and is currently seeking an Elkrin. Eveline is always accompinnied by her companion, a female red fox named Vixen. She is also obsessed with an elusive species of bird known as the glowbird. She likes them because the have cracks in their plumage where light shines through, just like her. She and Vixen are always on the hunt for them.
