Gender: Male
Breedable: Yes
Type: Shaman Elkrin

The Witch Doctor's Magic

From the deep waters of the bayou to the safari plains of the Sabal, people have spoken of the lone figure in the night that conjures up voodoo and is a curse upon the land. However, not everything is as they appear to be...the Shaman Elkrin are a rare sight to see these days. They are one of the few deer who are able to tap into the dark arts like the Necromancers yet do not always use their power to lay curses for their own amusement. In fact, it is quite the opposite! These Elkrin are highly intelligent and know the properties of plants to formulate strong medicinal herbs that can heal many aliments. And though their appearance may be frightening at first, they actually have quite a sense of humor, though dark as it may be. Their pelts are bright and luminescent, giving off a faint eerie glow as they walk the deep swamps of their homelands. The feathered skulls they wear also do not help in their frightening appearance. The skull is said to be from a deceased herd member that they hold dear. Always keeping the spirit close; they wear the mask of their ancestors so that they may be protected in both life and death.

This older male though is traveling the lands in search of new knowledge and plants. People are frightened of him, saying that he shall lay a curse upon the land he walks on. They try to chase him away yet he continue to return until he can heal the diseased or find the plant he was looking for. But be warned, though the Shaman Elkrin are indeed not likely to harm you they will not hesitate to curse you if you do them harm instead. Best to stay on their good side and tell a joke or two, or perhaps you are in search of this creature for another reason? I would love to hear you tale~

He is gorgeous! Reserved with the name Jadu! (I think I found Celeste's partner in crime XD!)

:The Mystery of the Dark forest:

Rider Name:
Luz Maria Da'maviria

Rider History/Info.:
Luz was born in the desert city of Darak'i, and lived there untill she was eight. There, she lived with her father, a nomadic zoologist, and learned how to survive in the harsh temperatures of the desert. Her hair, which used to be a fiery red, turned a sandy blonde to match the colors of the sunbaked sand. On her eighth birthday, she moved into the Celtlands with her Mother, Aria. There, she learned how to weave beautiful stories, and make wonderous artwork. The Celtlands also made her strong enough that by the age of 16, she could become a nomad like her father. So, on her 16th birthday, she left to travel the world. The first stop on her travel list was The Flickering Vales. There, she found her first Rune, Daydream. She was lost and disorented, so Luz picked her up, stuffed her in the pack she brought, and left. The next place she would visit would be the Celtlands. There, she discovered an errie sub-region that she dubbed The Dark Forest. When she and Daydream wandered through it, they found a mischevious little witchcraft rune...that could write. She said her name was Celeste, and that she would like to come with them. That is how Luz found her second Rune. The next place they would explore were the Oriental Isles. There, they found Mizu, who was going to be killed for his oceanic habitat. Now, Luz is on the hunt for an Elkrin who would match her devious and nomadic lifestile. Maybe Jadu would be the right one.

Luz is a 21-year woman who's currently living in the Celtlands. She is tall and lanky, and has died pink/violet and black hair. She has yellow eyes, and has a large affection toward owls. She is outgoing, always looking for an adventure. She is quick-witted, which means she can survive well as a nomad. WIP

Name:

Jadu
This means Magic in Hindi. I was playing around with translator, and I thought this sounded cool.

Breedable:

Yes, but only with the right female.

Short Story:

(Give a short story describing a tale of this Elkrin's adventures or how he met you. Limit is 2000 words and you may have up to two images.)

Dropping out. I just fell in love with the Illuminated doe.

Wow he is stunning!! You really outdid yourself Benathorn!!

:Form:

Name:

Sangoma
This is a name used by African Cultures for their healer.

Breedable:

if she accepts him for who he is.

Short Story:

"As a child my father told me the legend of our town. Everyone in the village knew the legend. It begins on a stormy night. People watched this figure in the night as it rummaged through the forest. It picked up various plants, and held them in its mouth. Finally it stopped. This creature laid them down near a cross made of two sticks, and started making a noise that the people said sounded like chanting. The last thing this creature brought was a dead rabbit and put in on the cross. The creatures chanting got louder.* The people somehow realized that the creature was probably cursing this land. So they started to throw spears at the creature. The creature tried to keep chanting it's curse, but the brave people chased the creature away. They were too late though. The next day, the town suffered a severe storm that wiped out the village. They knew that if this creature had finished it probably would have been a lot worse." I said shortly, as the children stared intently at me. "And it is said that people have seen this creature searching the woods waiting to finish his curse." I said as the children clapped their hands. "I would have killed that creature right then and there!" One child said. "I am going to go kill it when I am older, so that evil beast never hurts our village." Another kid yelled with confidence.

I walked home from the park where the storytelling sessions were held. I always came to tell the kids the legend of the curse. I wasn't sure if the beast was real or what it looked like because I only heard stories about it. There are pictures that people drew of this creature. All of them are different, from a wolf to a horse, but they all have the creature wearing a skull mask. I sometimes feel as if there is more to the legend, though.

It was getting dark out , and it was time I headed home. The night sky seemed lost with the stars covered by the clouds. The town was getting ready for bed, as was the forest. Except, there was a glow coming from deep in the forest. Unfortunately, the curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to go and investigate. As I walked through the forest, my heart beat raced faster and faster. I wanted to stop, but all I seemed to do was walk faster. As I neared the glowing, I realized that it was just a flashlight someone left on. This flashlight brought up another curiosity. Why would someone leave a flashlight that was turned on in the middle of the woods?

I picked up the flashlight to turn it off. As I grabbed it, I heard some rustling in the bushes behind me. I quickly turned to face it. The flashlight made a spotlight around the creature that made the rustling. I only was able to see a glimpse of the creature before it darted off into the woods. The only thing I was able to see was a skull mask.

I was sure it was the evil beast from the legend. I wasn't sure what to do, so I decided to investigate more. I knew the beast was up to no good, but I needed evidence. I started to walk in the direction the beast ran off. I turned my flashlight on so I wouldn't scare the beast off. My heart was still racing and I was sweating immensely. I slowly and slowly quickened my pace until, finally, I could hear footsteps now. As the creature came into view, I slowed my breath and stopped walking. I finally got a good look at this creature and I realized what the creature was.

This creature was no wolf or horse, this was one of the rare Shaman Elkrin, who are famous for their incredible healing spiritual rituals and techniques. How could this be the creature? I started to think that maybe they misjudged this Elkrin. Or maybe this was not a normal Shaman Elkrin, and it actually evil.

I slowly walked up the Elkrin but as soon as it saw me, the great stag sprinted away. I started to run after him.

I finally caught up the Elkrin, but I saw that he had got his foot stuck under a rock and couldn't get out. I know that he is an evil witch crafter, but I couldn't just leave him there. I finally decided to help him out. I neared the rock slowly, but when I got close enough to almost grab the rock, the Shaman Elkrin started to kick at me with his other free hoof. He thought I was going to hurt him, and that's when I realized I still had my knife sticking out of my back pocket. I grabbed it out of my back pocket. "I'm not going to hurt you," I said as I looked into his eyes and slowly put the knife down.

I tried to move closer, and this time he let me. I pulled the rock up off his foot, and he slowly stood up.

I reach out my hand, and the Shaman Elkrin slowly bent down and met his head with my hand. At that moment I realized that he wasn't an evil beast. He was misjudged, and I fell for the rumors and stories.

That day we didn't just make a new family, we both learned from it. We learned never to judge a book by its cover, because you never know what fantastic surprise is waiting for you when you open it up.

*The ritual I am referring to is the 'Di Bar Lava' ritual which they use to protect a house against evil spirits, and if not done properly, it is said to bring bad luck to the village.

:Form:

Name:

Gwandoya -- a Swahili name meaning 'met with misery'.

Breedable:

Yes.

Rider Information:

How rare is it, to find a person in Eldemore who can perform magic without the bond of a Rune or an Elkrin? Not quite as rare as finding a place where they are accepted, that's for sure. Most simply try to get past it, to find a creature of their own who can overwrite their natural ability, but some don't. Some can't. Almana falls into that latter category, a vagabond woman with nothing to her name aside from her clothes and the curse she bears-- and what else could it be but a curse? She appears normal enough, with a medium skin tone common to the desert borderlands, grey-eyed and black haired, but it's the air around her that sets people off. Her very presence seems to suck the life out of a place, and not just figuratively-- grass grows brittle, flowers wilt, people grow weaker. Should she remain too long in one area, disease and outright death are sure to be next.

This has all deeply affected her personality, making Almana a rather bitter, hostile woman who avoids contact unless absolutely necessary; and her greatest desire right now is to simply find her way to the badlands out in the far south, where there is nothing and no one for her to harm. She isn't quite sure how to react to kindness either, often treating it the same way any person might deal with a drink they suspected had been poisoned.

Should Almana and Gwandoya bond though, this could change-- she is somewhat young, after all, and the protective, curative magic the Shaman elkrin provides just might be enough to cancel out her own strange powers, or at least help ease their effects. She would gain little physical traits from this, but the bond would be reflected in her choice of clothing-- she would get rid of her usually black and white wardrobe to include deep purple and bright oranges, and might even find a mask of her own.

Short Story:

-wip-

WIP-- this guy is /amazing/ and I need to have him :I. Now, to work out a rider...

Dropping out, I can't figure out a good story >.<

Commonly called Sha

Short Story:

The Stampeding Bones
Told by Zander Du'Mal

"Rose and I had gone out to the plains to search for new Elkrin breeds. Rose had been reading about Elkrins and noted that we were in the area of one of the last known Shaman Elkrins. I doubted that we would see such a beast, I was very wrong..."

"We has been camping outside for a bit less than a week. Rose had been sketching out what she imagined the Shaman Elkrin to look like. At night, she would make a map of the stars so she could find he way back after looking for bio-luminescent plants or minerals in the area. One night, something strange happened."

"Rose ran back to camp after only half an hour. She tripped on so e equipment, which was very unlike her. When I asked what was wrong, she grabbed me by the collar of my shirt and said 'I found him.' ... I was in awe. I sat down next to her and asked her many questions. I set up a fire in the center of camp and we cooked some food while we chatted. After we had eaten, Rose started explaining what the Shaman Elkrin looked like. Here is what she said."

"Rose told me 'His body is adorned with the deepest of purple seas, and the colors of flame spreads throughout that sea. He bears the skull of a fallen Elkrin, along with a tail piece fashioned of bones. Yellow gems peer from behind the skull mask, a set of yellow eyes that cannot be unseen.' and I was both horrified and intrigued."

"I asked her many questions, but one of the ones she could not answer was why the Elkrin was so close to us. She opened her mouth and was about to say something when we heard the call of the Elkrin. We jumped to our feet and when we looked in the direction of the call, we saw him. The stampeding beast adorned with bones and the colors of fire in a purple sea. I ran, but tripped after 10 feet. I was top scared to be careful. I looked at Rose and yelled for her to run, but she stood her ground. The Shaman Elkrin's face was inches from Rose's. She stared into his yellow eyes and said something. She said 'Rivi'Sha' ... His name."

"I stood up and carefully walked over to her and the Elkrin, I asked her what she was doing. She simply smiled and said 'Taming the Shaman.' I was co confused, I asked what she ment. She placed her hand on the bone mask and looked at me. 'I am becoming and Elkrin Rider.'"

"Every sunrise, Rose would try to ride Rivi'Sha. She was able to last a little while, but she was never a savvy horse rider so I doubted she would get much better. However, she continued to improve until she and Rivi'Sha seemed to move as one. I had seen something strange and wonderful, I had seen the creation of a new Elkrin Rider and the bond between her and her Elkrin."

Image

"We packed up and set off with Rivi'Sha on our trek back to a village we had passed days before.  However, we could not find you map.  Also, the star map Rose had made was no help during the day and we would not risk traveling at night."

"We wandered for two days until we were faced with difficulties.  We were finding less signs of people and more wilderness.  Rivi'Sha started acting strange, he kept trying to lead us in different directions and searching the earth for plants.  Rose convinced me to listen to him, so we started following the Elkrin.  We traveled for three days and nights, for we had been traveling in the wrong direction."

"He found plants that suppressed our fatigue and hunger, so we were able to continue traveling until we came across the path towards a small village.  Rose mounted Rivi'Sha and sped towards the village, I came to the village several minutes later.  When I was there, the villagers both respected and feared us.  We were told that the Elkrins and Elkrin rides had dwindled in numbers.  Thus two facts were true, the Shaman Elkrin was one of the few still found, and Rose had become the Shaman Elkrin Rider."
