((It's ok. Sorry I haven't replied in a while. Been having some major writer's block >.<))

Laila nodded in agreement to the kelpie's words. Before she could respond a voice sounded from behind them. Her first thought would be to get into a defensive position and see how much this person has heard and if they were a spy of some sort. She then recognized the boy as the sorcerer from their classroom. Probably has come to drag them back to the classroom after they had both stormed out of there. Laila laughed to herself thinking of how furious that human that calls herself a teacher must be. Oh how she would love to see that human try to intimidate them with her petty anger.

"Maybe we are, maybe we are not," Laila said with a shrug in a neutral tone. In place like this where the humans have, as she had said earlier, broken some of the creatures here and maybe even use them as their own personal dogs to do their bidding it was hard to tell who was trustworthy and who she would be better off drowning in some large body of water and ripping them to shreds. "Though sorcerer, I would be interested in listening to what you have to say. It might prove be quite useful for not only I, but my acquaintance here too," Laila responded in a chilled voice. Her eyes were still locked on the sorcerer, still trying to decide whether to fully trust him or not.

Everine's eyebrows went up as he took on his more natural stance; anger. She gave no implications that she was perturbed, shocked, or surprised; for she was highly expecting him to blow, but not quite this strongly. She glanced protectively at Oromin, as Kastor reached out his hand, and barred her teeth at him, quite animal-like. She looked quite terrifying, her shiny teeth glinting in the low light and her eyes ablaze with enmity. She was quite surprised at his comment about her being useful. "For what purposes? I will never join alliances with the likes of you." She said quietly, but not at all submitting. She picked up Oromin, who scuttled quickly under her cloak in safety. "Able? " She asked rhetorically. Standing up to her full height, then bending down slightly to hiss in Kastor's ear. "I should think not." She was prepared for a duel if that is what it took, for she regarded him as some sort of evil warlock, and a duel is how they tested the others strength and weakness. Dulson flew to Everine's shoulder and squawked loudly, looking deep into his master's eyes. He was wondering where all of this ferocity had come from, for in the recent centuries she had become much more dismissive and forgetful, her mood light but always she was in her memories. Dulson remembered centuries ago that she was a feared and highly respectable wizard, the Wizard Lord, was her title, before the Great Wizard War, when she grew melancholy and put out because of the many forests lost to the Dark Wizards. But now that ferocity had coem back and her strength as growing every second.

((No problem, happens to all of us. ^^ I mean, I go on hiatus at random times without warning... no problem if you don't post every now and then.))

Kastor didn't even blink, though he was perfectly aware of Everine's power gathering. She expected him to fight her- probably thought he was a wizard of some kind himself, as he hadn't specified whether he was human or not yet, or at least was willing to treat him as one. Still, he was no magic user and wasn't about to follow their silly customs. If he fought with this girl it wouldn't be in some fancy duel, nothing quite so honorable or time consuming. "Then you are a stupid little girl, darling. You should realize that I could kill you, any of these students really, without breaking a sweat." He purred, still angered but enjoying himself now. The haughtier she was the more fun it would be to crush her later. "Tell me, why else would all these kids be staying here? If they weren't terrified of me and certain persons in my staff then they would have run or fought back long ago. As to never joining me... well, I'm not interested in giving you or anyone else much choice in the matter should I choose to recruit you, love. Now, scurry on back to class- and if I find you don't return then you'll be short one hawk tomorrow, I can guarantee it." The headmaster held her gaze, knowing full well this girl could probably outmatch many of his students and probably all the human staff members, but so could he- and if he didn't wish to tire himself he had hundreds here he could force or ask to do it for him.

Leonard would usually have taken Laila's intense gaze as some form of challenge, but as he had been sizing her up to determine whether he should approach or not himself he couldn't very well protest. Besides, he had a reputation for selling out other students- and though it was known among friends that he was long finished doing such things the majority of students still considered him a "snitch" of sorts. "I can't say too much here, but I will tell you this- our interests coincide, and should you seek to "rally the troops" I know quite a few ready to be rallied. I've been here for years, and the staff trust me, though they wouldn't be too surprised to find out they shouldn't." He didn't step too close, and held himself directly in front of the door- if the teacher looked outside or somehow heard anything they said it would be him she saw. This subtle gesture was meant as a sign of good faith, he couldn't prove this was no trap but he could imply it. "I'd like to get out of here myself, and we're always looking for new muscle in that department."

Everine lifted her chin, feeling that this scum bag would be easy enough to fight, but she sensed he would rather test how quickly she would break before he did anything. Some would call it wise, others would call it cowardice. As fo herself, she felt that he was tired of dealing with her and he was finished with her, for now. She smiled at his threats. 'I've heard worse than that, Head-Master.' She said in accordance to his comment about the students leaving. 'What is going on here has nothing to do with the power you wield, you have others, higher-powers one might say, backing you up. It is not you we are afraid of, but of those behind you. Every evil power has a mask, and you are one of them.' She said, revealing a little of the information she knew, her fears subsiding instantly. As for his treat about Dulson, she cackled, quite amused, as did Dulson. 'Oh, you have much to learn, Dear Head Master.' She said, turning abruptly around towards the door, disappearing instantly back to her classroom, but before she did so, she flashed a smile back at Kastor, with eyes alight.

She appeared back in her seat, with Dulson happily perched on her shoulder. Her eyes were focused on the teacher, but her mind was elsewhere, a complicated plan taking form in her newly awakened mind. So the Head Master did help with something, renewing my previous state of mind in the most peculiar way. She thought, surprised.

Laila held her cold gaze on Leonard. Her sea blue-green eyes that looked as if they were frozen over by a shield of ice seemed to soften only slightly at his words. Though her trust was still not fully gained. she knew of this boy. Have heard rumors and tales of him selling out students to these twisted humans for his own well being or so to speak. How could she know if this was not just some kind of scheme to get them into trouble or worse? She searched his face for any sign that could prove them to distrust him.

"Well sorcerer, how do we know that you are speaking the truth? One could easily say those words and then use our own against us if they wish. Tough your words I do want to hear for what you say sounds quite delightful if it were true. If you may not say much here then we shall meet else where. How about a secluded corner in the quiet library after this poor excuse of a class? There you can enlighten us on this subject without unwanted ears," Laila said smoothly, looking towards the door and down the halls to make sure no one was going to interrupt them at the moment. She then turned back to Leonard and locked her eyes on him again. "But be warned, if you prove to betray us, then you shall suffer a worse fate than of those disappearing students. Do I make myself clear?" she asked. Laila may not have the energy to shapeshift from her lack of water, but her eyes did seem to change from what looked human to the eyes of a large predator cat with a subtle threatening gleam.

{{ I didn't realize you guys had replied. ='D Eheh. My brain seems to be elsewhere lately, thusly the short posts. }}

Jake stopped and turned halfway around so she was facing him but not fully; not much of a battle stance, unless you were Jake. In that pose she was ready for nearly any maneuver--she braced her feet, switched her hips, and put a great deal of unconscious effort into looking nonchalant. Her eyes scanned lazily over him, gleaming like iridescent black opals. They searched his face briefly, only half-listening as she made note of his stance--then zeroed in on a certain little black-and-blue accessory sitting almost invisibly on his shoe. If she hadn't known to look for him she wouldn't have seen him; Mugi was good at that. She smirked and arched a brow at him in a silent question. He gave her a dry look, clearly not amused by whatever antics he perceived her to be enacting.

"What key timing you have," she drawled, eyes moving from Mugi to the wizard's face. She hooked her thumb on her belt loop and slouched. "When we meet, I'll ask Hino to come along. She is an adept lie-detector, even if she is as flighty as her namesake." Fire, she meant; apparently, she thought fire was flighty. Not the usual description to say the least. Mugi rolled his eyes and silently grumbled about his predicament. He'd gotten confused by the sudden move and reflexively settled in the hiding spot he'd always chosen with his previous master--the last person he'd spoken wizard-tongue to. His frill lit up suddenly and he tensed, lifting his head and letting out a low, long hiss. Magic.

~Hino was sulking; she'd been left out of everything! It wasn't fair. And now even Mugi had left her! So when they magic tickled at her spine in a not wholly unpleasant way she perked up and adopted an eager expression of anticipation. Her head tilted like a curious bird and she stifled a trill. Not to her surprise, a certain lady wizard flashed into being a few seats away. Hino's pupils dilated in response to the abrupt dazzling light show that shown through her magic senses. IF asked for a color she would have called it blue but the truth was it had no true color, not as we know it at least. She doubted if anyone else in the room could see quite so much of the magic at work; apparently one of her past lives had gained this ability and chose that moment to lend it to her since the scene gave her a feeling of nostalgia. She smiled at the bittersweet emotion, blinking away the lights from her eyes. She wondered if what she identified as blue was the color of Everine's magic or that particular spell. She felt as if she'd seen it before.

Gingerly she reached out to touch the woman's mind, and her entire body flinched. Ouch... Everine had changed in that short time away. She adjusted her approach accordingly, gently "knocking" on the "doors" of the wizard's mind. You survived. Congrats.

Everine settled into her seat, not exactly slouching, but not too perked up. The teachers were suspicious of over-achievers and students not even paying attention. She tried hard to take on a nonchalant appearance, but her body was rigid and alert. The magic was flowing through her again, almost like blood, but felt somewhat like adrenaline. But it wouldn't drain unless by some powerful wizard or evil sorcerer. Magic was her life force, her motivation, and it had to feed on something. She gave her magic to the forest of Eldenwood and the Land of Alyria. In turn for her protection and guardianship, the forest itself gave slitair, her source of magic. Her siltair was low, but not in any means diminishing, yet. She needed out of this place and soon. Kastor would most likely attempt to use her for his will, but fortunately her strength was growing rapidly, far too rapidly to be stopped.

Suddenly she felt a soft attempt to reach her mind, as if by a force of weak magic. She sat up stiffly, looking around the room quickly, her alarmingly bright green eyes landing on Hino, her eyebrows rising, and a small smile playing at her lips. She allowed the aged phoenix to be in communications with her, but not quite allowing her to bask in the fullness of her magic. The Head Master, if I may speak so loosely of him, is not quite all he is written up to be. He is definitely not human, but surely not a sorcerer; but rather some form or another of a servant and messenger of evil. She said, now fully aware of the loneliness of this ancient creature. She attempted to console her by allowing her to see her long ago story of life, but refrained. That would only harm her renewed state of mind.

She redirected her attention to a scuffle in the hall just outside of the door. She made a hissing sounds with her lips, as she remembered the dark wizard she had spoken to earlier. She squinted, though she was not trying to see them with her eyes, rather to touch them with another welcome sense; magic. There was the kelpie that she was quite fond of and the old salamander, which she was on debatable terms with. And finally the nix, with whom she had no desirable acquaintance with. Her dress suddenly shifted as a hoard of spiders scurried away quickly and quietly.

((Sorry guys! I am awful at the whole coming on and replying on time thing. Okay, I have one note about Everine- she's already in danger of breaking my rules. If her "strength was growing rapidly, far too rapidly to be stopped" she's obviously powerful and getting stronger- she's a student, if you want an extremely powerful character they have to be on Kastor's "board", and you have to contact me, okay? Sorry if I sound snappy.))

Leonard stiffened instinctively, senses warning him someone was listening, but he relaxed when he sensed Everine's magic- he didn't care if she listened, seeing as they were only making plans to meet up later- for now anyway. He knew the wizard didn't like him, but he doubted she would bother following them later or trying to make them talk now, if she could even hear them clearly enough. Instead he focused on answering the two girls, starting with the cold one who seemed to think he was about to attack her, or something along those lines. "You can't tell- I'm guessing neither of you are wizards, so you can't scry me,and anything I say could very well be a lie. I don't expect you to trust me, that would be foolish considering we only just met, but mayhap you've some test in mind? Anything you ask me to do that can prove my sincerity would work." Leonard said, meeting Laila's gaze with determination and flame glowing in his eyes, but not defiance nor anything threatening. "And though I can't say there's much worse than what happens to the staff's little experiments I do understand your meaning." Though some may take her words as a threat he found them more interesting. Lots of people made empty threats, and wether or not she would be able to actually hurt him was up for discussion-but she was obviously very willing to try.

Jake was easier, he at least knew a little about her, and about the friendly salamander who was apparently clinging to his leg, a fact Leonard would not have realized if not for the girl's shift in gaze. He wondered vaguely why Mugi had stayed with him but decided it would be best to ask later, maybe when they weren't all already in danger of angering their teacher past her breaking point. At least the woman teaching "history" wasn't taken seriously even by her co-workers, unless Kastor took an interest in them they could get away with most things in that class. Some, however, were rather different. "Then if you trust Hino, see if she trusts me. I'm curious to see how that works actually, is magic involved or does she read body language?" He kept his tone light, hopefully casual even if it was formal, something he tended to do when meeting new people. "Bring her to the library then. Shame you're all woman, we'd be much safer talking in the dorms-I could send Haley, but for all you know I tricked her. For now, however, we have a teacher to deal with- and I worry that she might burst a vein if we wait any longer."

((Let's just say class is almost over- everyone ready to end that soon? It's going pretty long...))
