I have no idea! I normally don't plan out my books, I just go to the bookstore.

No shame in that! Book hunting is fun and hopefully you'll find something interesting. What is your least favorite book?

Hmmm.
I didn't like. "maniac magee" because the 'subtle' message was a little... strong? And it just didn't interest me... I also didn't like a horse book, I don't remember what it was called. It was set in a post-Victorian era, it seemed like the ultimate favorite book for rebellious Amish tweens.. the girl dared to ride like a man, not side-saddle!!! Oh, and also a more recent book, "little brother". It's one of those conspiracy theory ones, which is okay, but for some reason I just really couldn't get into it. I didn't finish the book.

There was also a book I got a long time ago called "the saint of the dragons". I didn't like it because it focused on a boy and his father who slay dragons. I tend to be cynical about matters like this, and normally side with the dragons. It depicts their target dragon, he often takes a man's form and is lonely and loves to paint. Doesn't sound so evil, right? He falls in love with a mortal woman, which, sadly the dragon ritual of marrige is the male and female burning eachother in their own fire. It doesn't hurt them, if they're both dragons, of course. Sure, I get why the 'heros' should save the girl, but why kill the dragon? The book tries to paint him in an evil light, but I just don't see it.

I guess that's kind of a lot! Come to think of it, I didn't finish any of these.
So, what are some books that you don't like?

Actually a lot of books. Maniac Magee I had to read for school and it wasn't horrible. I think I actuay did finish it opposed to every other book the school assigns me I just quit. But I just didn't like it, wasn't my favorite. I have a ton of books I don't like and many many many series that I started but didn't finish because I lost interest. But oh my... I have to say The Outsiders has to be one of the worst I have tried to read. School made me but I couldn't do it. The plot is so bland and the characters are... Boring. I stopped half way and even worse I had to watch the movie. The movie was much worse because I had to sit through it but yeah. That book is one of the worst I have attempted to read.

Another one that I doubt I would finish but still have some interest in it is the Halo series. It's about these three angels who come down to earth and try to save the small towns from evil and crap. Well that's all good and all but the youngest (Bethany) falls in love with a mortal guy (Xavier) which is forbidden!! Anyway it's not that the plot wasn't good, (my opinion it just focused around them the whole time and how they couldn't be together and whatnot) it's just... These characters were the BIGGEST Mary-Sue, Gary-Stue characters around. They were desscribed with beautiful hair, gorgeous face, able to pick up anything and be perfect at it in a day or two. And everyone is in love with them. These weren't just the angels (though it mostly was) but Xavier too. Bethany loves him and calls him perfect, caring, lovable, sweetheart. Not a bad bone in his body. Whenever I think of "perfect characters" I think of this series.

Yeah, sometimes characters can be too perfect. I think everybody should have at least a small flaw, but flawless characters are completely unrelatable..
In a writing seminar I was in, the person hosting it said that when making a character, he or she should always have a contradicting thing about them. It makes them more likable.

I think we've been the only ones posting for a little while.

It hurt my heart how they were so perfect... Lol but yes characters should never be perfect unless they want to make the reader stop. But I noticed that, its alright though, maybe more people will post soon.

Hi! I'll just jump in to the conversation here...

The most of the books you have here I haven't read (or heard about) because they are not in my language (norwegian). I'm going to read Maximum Ride in english, as my first english book : )
But right now I'm reading Betrayed in House of Night-series by P.C and Kristin Cast. Heard about it? Can't say it's the best book I've read... That has to be The Inheritance Cycle. Terrible movie, great books. Want to inform me about what all of you are reading?

Hi.
Although I don't normally read classics all the time, I saw Sherlock the t.v. series on BBC so I am now reading A Study in Scarlet and the Mark of Four as an e-book.
