Hmmm.
I didn't like. "maniac magee" because the 'subtle' message was a little... strong? And it just didn't interest me... I also didn't like a horse book, I don't remember what it was called. It was set in a post-Victorian era, it seemed like the ultimate favorite book for rebellious Amish tweens.. the girl dared to ride like a man, not side-saddle!!! Oh, and also a more recent book, "little brother". It's one of those conspiracy theory ones, which is okay, but for some reason I just really couldn't get into it. I didn't finish the book.
There was also a book I got a long time ago called "the saint of the dragons". I didn't like it because it focused on a boy and his father who slay dragons. I tend to be cynical about matters like this, and normally side with the dragons. It depicts their target dragon, he often takes a man's form and is lonely and loves to paint. Doesn't sound so evil, right? He falls in love with a mortal woman, which, sadly the dragon ritual of marrige is the male and female burning eachother in their own fire. It doesn't hurt them, if they're both dragons, of course. Sure, I get why the 'heros' should save the girl, but why kill the dragon? The book tries to paint him in an evil light, but I just don't see it.
I guess that's kind of a lot! Come to think of it, I didn't finish any of these.
So, what are some books that you don't like?
