HUGE PROBLEM!

when i went to create a new folder on my computer for pixel kitties, i uploaded all of the pictures to it. when i exited the screen and came back, the file was gone and the pictures are no longer saved to my computer. I lost all pixel kitties pictures and data. I searched myy desktop and found them floating around, but I have no idea what folder they are in or how to get them out. i am extremely sorry for the inconvenience and i will spend the next few weeks getting my data back.
