---Reason why you want to adopt it:
Well, I really like these and I haven't had the chance to get one yet. Yeah, I know it's sort of a suckish reason, but really, I just really love it. I love your art and the design and detail that you put into them.
Hmm, I also love raccoons and this daeet seems to look allot like one (to me anyway).
---Where will it be used?
In my signature, trading rules, or character thread.
---How will you use it?
Umm, I'll keep him (of course) and treasure him (maybe show him off to a few of my friends to make them jealous since they always do the same to me). I'll make sure that's he's not forgotten (meaning I won't just save the image on my computer and lave it there) and probably use him as a ref for some other custom art (if I get any for him) if that's okay.
---Other
Thank you for considering my form.
Sorry about the long History by the way, I sort of got carried away with the characters so it was hard for me to think of a cute ending. I hope it's okay that I based Arashi (the 2nd main character) off of the second daeet.
---History:
Akuto lived the life as a farmer in the fields of his kingdom. Young, yes, but all children had to grow up fast to survive. However, this silver daeet wasn't just any farmer, in fact, he was best friends with the prince.
Known for being a thief and a little rascal, Akuto didn't expect to befriend the prince, but next thing he knew, they were going on daily adventures together and had fun often. Of course it was dangerous since no mere commoner was supposed to be allowed anywhere near the prince, but the boys still played and ignored the rules...~*~..
“Again?” My mother asked me, narrowing her eyes slightly. What did she expect? I was a growing boy!
“It wasn’t my fault this time though” I whined slightly. I knew she was a sucker for my eyes and pout.
“Akuto, picking a fight with your higher-ups is a serious offense. Yes you’re all just kids now, but it may not be just considered ‘a prank’ later on.” My mother scolded yet again, nuzzling me affectionately. I didn’t return it though.
Why did she always have to ruin my fun? Why did she always have to make every little thing… boring?
“Tanuki…” She looked me in the eyes, using the little nickname that she loved.
“I understand…” I mumbled back, dipping my head as I sauntered over to our ratty bed. I mean, what’s so special about royals anyway? They’re just like me! Except, they have money. And, they didn’t even work for their money! They just… have it!
“Goodnight sweetie” My mother licked my nuzzle and curled up around me. I nuzzled her back before too curling up and going to sleep.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
‘3 more cherries to go’ I though, panting slightly as I began sprinting again. ‘Just 3 more! Now where are they?’
I whipped my head around and searched through the bushes for the familiar red berries. I mean, of course I could have always gotten something else (acorns, berries, apples, corn cherries, wild grapes, persimmons, beech nuts, figs, peaches, watermelons, plums, walnuts, and citrus fruits), but today was mother’s birthday, and cherries were her favorites. I personally liked peaches.
"Looking for something?"
I paused my running and turned to see a familiarly cocky face.
"Prince Arashi" I greeted, bowing my head to him. The prince actually looked allot like his parents. Midnight fur with a brighter gray nuzzle, brow area and chest. If you ask me, I'd say it looks similar to a midnight rainstorm. I suppose that's where he got his name...
"What's with the sudden formalities? You've never had the courtesy of that before" He smirked. I growled near silently, nearly bursting up and tackling the annoying daeet. Of course if I did he'd be expecting it though, since that was our daily routine. He gets me riled up, we wrestle and battle (not seriously, just playfully), then a guard eventually comes and pulls us apart. The only reason I hadn't been 'banished' yet was because the prince always informed everyone that he was the one who started it.
At least he's honest.
But I'll bet you he doesn't tell them because he's trying to be honest, but he tells them the truth because he doesn't want me to get banished.
Sweet? No. Selfish? Heck yeah. He likes of think of me as his personal slave per say. Not that I really mind though. Whenever I play servant for him, I usually get to go to the palace and check out all of the fascinating stories and paintings and food.
Goodness! The palace had SO many different and exotic fruits and foods. Some that I've never even seen!
So yeah, of course I envy Arashi and his family. Of course I wish that I could live in a palace and have my mother treated like a god.
Of course I would give up nearly anything to gain that.
But of course it was impossible for a mere low-class daeet like me. I guess I should still be grateful though. Most daeets haven't even seen the palace let alone the inside like me.
So I don't complain.
And yes, I make Arashi out like some jerk, but he really isn't. Scratch that, he is, but he's relatively nice. In fact, he's my best friend. In a rough-and-tumble sort of way.
"Let's just say reality hit me like a brick" I replied with a silly grin. "My mom said that we can't wrestle anymore though because I'll get in trouble."
"We've never gotten in trouble before..." He trailed off, obviously not pleased to hear this.
"Well, we're growing. If I get any olde, we can't keep labeling it off as 'just playing'." I explained, just like my mother had so many times. Of course last night hadn't been the first time she had told me, but I seriously decided to start listening to her. Last time she got in trouble for my stupidity. Even if she didn't want me to know, I saw her wounds... "We can do something else though" I suggested.
"Like what?" Arashi tilted his head as he sat down, tail swishing behind him showing that he was curious/pleased.
"I dunno. We can go adventuring again!" I grinned, watching in silent amusement as his face contorted into something of disgust. Hah, it was known knowledge by me that he hated hiking. He didn't like getting his paws dirty or something silly like that. So yeah, I knew he'd probably suggest something else, but I wanted to watch his expression change anyway.
'predictable' was my only thought as he cleared his through and his face became stoic.
"How about we adventure in the castle instead."
"You sure we won't get in trouble?" I wondered, following behind him loyally. Ararshi paused mid-step.
"Isn't that the fun part though?" he smirked yet again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You seriously need to stop spending time with hoodlums like me" I said as we continued to crawl through the air vent in the castle ceiling.
"But you're fun" he replied as if that was a perfectly good reason.
"I'm also a village daeet, not a royal like you"
"But all of the other royals my age are jerks"
I paused.
"And don't you dare think 'Just like you!'." he growled at me.
I smiled cheekily. "Of course I wouldn't" I rolled my tail in his face to emphasize the sarcasm my voice. Prince Arashi growled again, but we continued crawling through the vent until we reached our destination nonetheless.
"Okay, we're going to have to make this quick before my mother comes back" Arashi explained as we hopped from the ceiling and landed on her bed (Arashi did so somehow gracefully).
"Why are we doing this anyway?" I muttered, rubbing my aching backside. (Again, I didn't quite fall gracefully)
"Well, I can't place a present in someone's room for their birthday while they're in the room now can I?" Ararshi rolled his silver eyes.
"So when I said 'let's adventure' you somehow interpenetrated it as 'let's give your mother a birthday present!'?" I rolled my own golden eyes.
"What? I've been wanting to do this for a while" the raven colored daeet shrugged as he slid off the bed and placed a small yellow colored box -that was being held gently in his mouth- underneath his mother's pillow.
"Well, now that that's over- let's have some REAL fun" I barked, practically prancing off the bed and dashing out the room.
"Akuto, wait-" Arashi called after me, nearly snatching my silver fur in his jaw as he tried to catch me, but I was too fast.
'What was he saying?' I absentmindedly mused before literally running into someone. I looked up slowly, wincing as my face now ached too.
"What is a commoner doing in my palace?" A deep and raspy voice growled. My topaz eyes widened before I immediately snapped my head down in a bow.
"I-I apologize S-Sire. Prince Arashi intructed m-me to-"
"II DON'T CARE!" he roared, his tail bristling and fangs glistening.
My body began to shake violently as the kind drew closer.
"Father!" I heard a familiar voice gasp. Soon the prince scampered in front of me protectively. "I apologize father. My servant and I were placing a present for mother" He explained quickly, giving me a quick glance that easily said 'Get out of here- NOW'
I easily obliged my -with my head still bowed- edging backwards and soon just sprinting away all together.
'I hope the prince will be okay' I thought quickly, gathering my basket filled with cherries from the palace steps and scampering down to our little shack which I called home. I always found it strange how the queen had the same birthday as my mother...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So..."
"You're wondering what happened?" Arashi asked, shifting his position on his bed to stare at me with a strange look.
"If you're willing to tell me" I laughed sheepishly. It had been eating away at me the whole time! When the o prince hadn't come out to bother me that day, I took it upon myself to go visit him. And let me tell you, that was a feat itself with all of the guards surrounding the castle. Thank god I was so agile and flexible...
When I had arrived and knocked on his door, he only creaked it open. When he saw me though, a cocky smirk didn't appear on his face. Not even a smile. He only stared at me for a few moments. I just waited patently, sitting like a pet and waited for him to let me in. He shut the door abruptly, causing me to blink in surprise in confusion, but he opened it again and let me in a few minutes later after I had heard some shuffling in his room.
And that's how we got where we are now. Both of us sitting on his bed (he more laying on his bed) and sitting in an awkward silence.
"And of course I didn't come all the way here just to bother you" I quickly explained, feeling uncomfortable the way his eyes showed no emotion and he just kept staring at me. "I just... ugh... was worried when you didn't come to visit me..." I trailed off.
"You were... worried about me?"
I nodded.
"I put your life in danger every day..." he mumbled, turning over so I could only see his back as his tail lay there, lifelessly still. "Just by bringing you here... I bother you and distract you from collecting food. In fact, I bothered you on your mother's birthday just because I was bored..."
Wait, was he... Upset? was he feeling guilty? Is that why he didn't show up to bother me? Because he was feeling guilty? Was it because he felt bad for what happened with his father?
"Arashi" I said, not even bothering to put 'prince' in front of it. The only sign that he heard me was he lifting one of his ears. "I put your life in danger too. Not all of the villagers like the royals, yet I bring you to my house often" I began, shutting my eyes in frustration. 'How do I explain this...'
"You came to visit me on your mom's birthday too. You've gotten hurt so many times when I take you adventuring with me outside, yet you still keep going. In fact, I bet half the scars you have are from our adventures!" My eyes snapped open when I felt a soft breath on my cheek. 'The heck?'
Arashi fell on my shoulder and just lay there for a few moments.
"Are we cool now? You understand that we're both in the same situation?" I asked, feeling relief as he nodded. So we sat there.
And sat there.
"Arashi?"
"Hnn?"
"Why are you laying on me?"
"At first it was because I just felt like I needed a hug" he shrugged. The prince of our land... was hugging a commoner (who was also a BOY) because he needed a hug? "But I'm still hugging you now, because..."
"Because what?"
"... You're abnormally fluffy aren't you?"
"Wha- JERK!" I hissed as he began doubling over with barks of laughter.
