Sai is based on the Indonesian Owl Moth link, her design though is slightly different to add character. For Sai I decided to use a new technique of coloring; blending. This was a new experience that I'm happy to say was pretty successful. The style of blending allowed a more realistic butterfly wing look to the marble cat without having to add shading (which I did a little anyway XD.)

I wanted to try a new technique with blending colors. It also added more of a butterfly wing effect; which was a plus. Thank you for your amazing common, it truly made my day. I can say that I actually like this design a lot, granted its simple but very effective of being beautiful. Who says that natural colors aren't magical?

Also its stated in the beginning of the contest that there is no set limit for winners (at least as of now) so you have a chance to get your design too. -pats your back- don't feel discouraged! Music always helps me, I usually pick one song and listen to it the whole time drawing. The song I chose for this one was I Cry by Flo Rida.

Its actually my own style of blending. Its a combination of colors/shades and the blending tool with a bit of the smudge tool.

this is amazing!! only thing is Andi said dont use any of the oriental layers and uh.....that design you did or the wings...Well those, are oriental wings so it doesnt count really

no it's not, I checked, this is the first layer saying 'top' and the layer titled 'bottom wing'. I just checked that out...never thought we weren't allowed to do that until now....well....anyways, it's fine. no need to worry.
