It started out as fun.
Just yet another way to escape the humdrum of your lives.

School, girlfriends, boyfriends, jobs, exams: life as a teen in the 22nd century can be tough. In its own way, it's worse than the dark days of the 21st century. Sure, the modern gadgets do make life easier. Sure, pretty soon the terraforming of Venus will be complete, and a trip to another continent is almost as easy as hopping down the street for a ice-cream. Sure, a trip to the moon-tunnels is considered a pretty standard graduation present from your parents - a trip to Titan is for the rich.

Unfortunately, there are traps now. Long ago, you could get into trouble in only a few ways: get drunk, get pregnant, take drugs, drop out of school, fight with your parents, run away, or all of the above. Now the traps are more sinister, and less easy to spot. Don't do drugs? Okay, fine, got it.

Too bad no one told you not to try new inventions before they'd been thoroughly tested.

-------------------------

You and your friends are at a birthday party: a mobile one. Marie Bryton Kurone, a popular kid with an air of maturity and mystery has invited you all along with her while she celebrates her seventeenth birthday. Some of you are friends, some of you have no clue why you were invited.

You've had the cake, opened the presents, and played the standard party games (levitating glasses, video-strategy games, DDR among other diversions). You're at the grand finale: The Simulacrum down at the shopping center: a place much like a movie theater, but with interactive simulations and programs that seem almost exactly like the real thing. It's new, and no one know anything about it. The owners are pleasant enough, and happy to have a large party with which to try their invention out on.

Yeah, it hasn't been tested on teens yet, but would that be a problem?

Yes. Yes it would. A big problem.

This is an invite only RP!

Anyone in the Semi-lit Club automatically has an invite.
If you want to invite someone else, and you are in the Club, feel free.

Image

Requirements: This RP has two requirements: You've got to have the skillz, and you've got to be chillz. No, seriously, this RP is for people who can write creatively, maturely, intelligently, and coherently. However, this RP has a post length requirement: A paragraph or less. Feel free to write one-liners, if they are quality one-liners! Write the length that comes naturally to you, as long as you don't go on and on and on and on. I'll give you this look if you do.

Plot: Now, the gist of the plot is this! A group of teens in a sci-fi future go to a new version of a movie theatre: a simulator. They can see, feel, and do anything in there. They call up a program where some of them have superpowers, but after they're done with the program and leave the simulator, the powers remain. The simulator wasn't just a fancy new way to entertain themselves, but an experiment done for unknown reasons by unknown people, and having superpowers is not so lovely after all. I have quite a bit planned for us, if we can get this rolling along well.

Characters: You can play a character with newly acquired powers or not. (If you want ideas for powers, message me. I have over a hundred in my document of random stuff). You must be between the ages of 14 and 18. Please have taste when choosing a character - no Mary Sues, powerplayers or other stuff like that.

Rules:Tess's, the post length requirement, fairly frequent postings (pm me if you want to drop out), and stay classy.

Other: Use your own forms, but please include at least a little bit for appearance, history, personality, current situation and your chosen power's form. I'm not a form nazi, nor do I expect prettiness. In fact, PLEASE do not put a bunch of extra effort into making the character's form. Post your form here for approval, or PM me. I really don't care.

Done! Note, I could use some help with the French parts of Danny's dialogue, as he may slip back and forth. If you know anyone who'd like to help, lemme know. :3

layout mostly by mercy. // text by Artesian // pictures by their artists
___________________________________________________________

[[ legal name: Arridano Duranseau
[[ called: Danny-boy, Petit Malin (his nickname from France). Don't call him that unless you want to be smacked. Malin, though, is fine, in fact, more than fine.
[[ age: 16
[[ gender: Male
[[ orientation: Hetero, and kinda girl-crazy. Girls! Girls girls girls!

[[ appearance:
Danny has fine, delicate features. His eyes are a lovely pale blue, and his skin is so pale it doesn't so much tan as toast lightly, like white bread. He is built to be strong and lean, but tends towards a stickish figure, scrawny and slight. He has a white scar across his wrist and another on his cheek from accidents.Appearance: ... He wears generally synthetics in quiet colors, and tends to wear much the same thing day after day. He has a locket made of platinum with a picture of his mother in it every day. He has a habit of overdressing for the weather: shorts and a tanktop for mildly warm weather, layers on layers of warm clothes for a tiny bit of snow. He tends to wear cargo pants, jackets with lots of pockets on them, and button down shirts.

[[ power: Tech-speaker
[[ power details:
Danny can talk to machines, and machines can talk to him. They tell him what they were made for, what's wrong with them, and how he can fix them. Every squeal or beep of the machine is a cry for help. Walking down the street, he's accosted by bikes and automatic doors and elevators and cellphones, asking him to fix them. He can't block them out either, and they all talk at once.

[[ history:
Danny grew up in a French speaking community in the tunnels of Luna. His mother was someone who was, well, a science groupie for a brilliant mathematician who lived in Germany. It didn't end particularly well, and so Danny found himself being raised by his single mom and her relatives. They lived in the Quebec area of the NAU (North American Union) till he was ten. He was teased horribly there for his reluctance to speak - a form of selective mutism that only affected his ability to interact with children, not with adults - and was nicknamed petit malin (or small intellect/smart-arse). The best thing about living ground-side was the ducks and the lakes. The worst thing was everything.
His mother, a clever mechanical engineer, moved to Luna and brought her son along with her. He thrived there, growing up only about a couple dozen children around. He overcame his mutism among most people (although there are a few people who make him clam up). He showed an aptitude for mechanical things, and an eagerness to help that won him lots of tutoring from the older technicians in the tunnels.
And then disaster struck when he was 15. His mother was in a radiation accident, and she developed bone cancer. Thankfully, there was treatment available for her. Unluckily, the only facilities were on Earth. They relocated for his mother's therapy, and while she recovered, she decided to stay Earthside for several more years. He's been at this high-school for two years now, and beginning to enjoy the resources it has to offer. Less gadgets to play with, but more girls.

[[ At first glance: Danny appears to be charming, slightly distant, technically-oriented, and intelligent.
[[ true personality:
Danny grew up associating with adults, and he acts like one in many ways. He's very intelligent, but he has his intellectual skills allocated to two subject: technical subjects and social skills. He finds many things boring, but is good at smiling and hiding his distaste. He likes to be busy, and can almost always find things to do. His hearing is excellent, and he's very good at detecting sounds out of the ordinary, in a quiet environment. Loud noises and chaotic clattering sounds give him a migraine.

He's also very good with girls. His French accent tinges his words with a bit of mystique and romance, and he is - admittedly - a bit of a flirt. He loves pretty girls, and has a gift for, as his best friend on Earth calls it, not pi*sing them off. He's sweet, not a dangerous rebel, and has a remarkable amount of courage for his lack of experience with them.
He has no skill at art whatsoever though. His best poetry is a bad limerick; his best painting was with his fingers, and his singing sounds like a buzzing engine. He is pleasant to be around anyway: he controls his temper in most situations, uses his manners, listens to people, and tends to be able to hold a decent conversation.

He has a bad habit of assuming that everyone knows everything he knows, from names of people he met on Luna to the technical specs of the new line of Glyd-under hydroplaning units. It can be very confusing to talk with him for very long, without asking what the heck he's talking about. He's not good with failure either, and doesn't like the outdoors. Wind, rain and sun all make him nervous, and he prefers to be indoors.

The temper I mentioned? He has one, and although he generally keeps it under control, he's been known to explode with irritation and rage, throwing wrenches on the ground and swearing in a hodge-podge of Luna dialect, English, and French swear-words. He can really cuss out someone he's furious at, but you're not likely to ever see him explode. He keeps it under the lid.

Amy Michelle Grigori. The main definition of Amy means "beloved." Many might disagree with the name given to her, especially when they first meet the girl, but that's probably because she's the type to start an argument upon first meeting someone. That's just her, but it's also the way she meets her friends, strangely enough. Amy loves her first name, even if it's just common and plain. You could even say overused. But, she doesn't care. She'd much rather have her first name as it is, than be called Michelle or the shortened form of it: Michie. So, basically, what I'm telling you is: only call her by her first name.

Now, Amy is indeed a girl, if you haven't been able to tell by her physical appearance. Or, if you had been able to tell, perhaps you don't believe your eyes? Who knows, but I can assure you, Amy is indeed a female. Her birth certificate even says so.

Amy is a girl of eighteen years. Nothing special. She's old enough to go live on her own now, as soon as she gets out of high school, she's going straight to college. She's only two years away from twenty, and three from the drinking age, though you'll probably never see her drinking. But, there's always a small possibility of it.

"Why should you care about my looks? Leave that to me."
Amy has what everybody has. Two eyes, a nose, a mouth, a set of ears...but, then, we already knew that. I mean, I just said that everybody has that, right? But, we have to be more descriptive than that. Amy has dark brown hair that goes down two or three inches below her shoulder blades. Her hair's naturally straight. She doesn't use a flat iron or anything to change the way it is, perfectly fine with the way it is, and is often irritated slightly when asked if she straightened her hair, being that it's naturally that way. It's not perfect straight--if that makes sense--but, it does become a little wavy after getting wet.

Amy's eyes are perhaps the part of her that she loves most. When she was younger, though, she thought it made her some sort of alien. Her eyes change color, according to the season. During the spring and summer months, her eyes will turn blue, much like the color of an ocean. During the winter and fall months, her eyes turn from blue to grey. Out of the two colors, she probably likes her eyes better when it's blue.

Now. onto her height and weight. You really shouldn't ask a woman about her weight...or is it her age? Whichever it is, Amy really doesn't care if you ask her. She is exactly five feet and six inches...so she's not that short, but she's not entirely tall either. Kinda in between. Lastly, Amy weighs in at around 120 pounds.

Lastly, her clothing choices. Amy's honestly pretty open to anything, though she usually sticks with jeans and any type of t-shirt or tank top. You'll probably hardly see her in a dress or a skirt and if you do, then consider it the only time you probably will see her in one. Lastly, you will always see Amy with a locket on. It's perhaps the only accessory or piece of jewelry you'll see her wearing on a daily basis.

"I've told you more than enough."
Amy is honestly a mixture of personality traits, often making her a complex and unreadable person, which she enjoys very much so.

Let's start off with her independence, her fierceness, and her stubbornness. Amy is indeed all three of these. She likes being independent and being able to do things on her own. You won't often find her relying or depending on anyone for assistance, mainly because she refuses to accept any offer of help. If she does accept the fact that she needs help, it will more than likely be from her family or friends first, rather than a complete and utter stranger.

Now, her fierceness? Amy can become quite protective of her younger siblings, or her family and friends in general. She doesn't appreciate any sort of assault made on them--verbal or physical. If she finds you picking on them or being a general *ss towards them, she won't hesitate to put herself into the situation and tell you to back off and go find something better to do. She just doesn't appreciate any form of bullying and is actually really irritated by it.

Amy is indeed stubborn and headstrong. Hardheaded. Every synonym you can think of to match. Once she makes up her mind about something, it is typically hard to make her change her opinion or her choice. Sometimes, she'll see your point, and she'll reluctantly agree, and sometimes she won't. Occasionally, she'll know that she's wrong, but she won't agree, just to be a pain. She finds amusement in it, though she doesn't indulge in it often.

Now, while her independence and her ability to argue are her strong points, they're also her weak points. Like mentioned, before, Amy will not accept any help or admit she's wrong, even if her life depended on it. Okay, maybe that was a little dramatic, but it's pretty close to how she is. Amy's just that way and there's really nothing you can do about it.

You should also know what Amy likes and dislikes. Maybe, if you knew this, you'd get to know her better. Amy likes the color blue. Any shade of it really. It's been her favorite color since she was a little girl. It's never been pink, unlike most. She had a phase where she liked the color green, but after a year or two, she reverted back to liking the color blue. Of course, she likes her friends and family...so there's nothing much to say there. The one thing she adores most, however, are kittens. She has her own, named Cherry. Now, Amy dislikes what almost everyone dislikes. Jerks, egotistic people, arrogance, and...well...she just hates shopping and dresses or skirts.

Lastly, despite all of what you might think about her when you first meet her, Amy isn't that bad of a person to be around. She's perhaps one the most loyal ones you'll have, who wouldn't hesitate to stand up for you or for what she believes in. You just have to get past the first impressions and be determined enough to get to know her better, for the real her, though you might need to be persistent and very patient.

"My history is not for the public ears, thank you."
There's nothing all that special about Amy's life. The first eighteen years, at least. She was born on Semptemer 26th to her parents, Rosa and Dante Grigori. Her mother was Hispanic, and her father was Italian. Along with her birth, her twin brother, Seth was born. Everything went well the year after that. Nothing can really happen and you can't really remember anything when you're a baby, anyways. A year after her and her brother were born, though, her parents had another set of twins" a male and female, as well. They ended up naming one Alex and the other Jessica.

Now, everything after that went by smoothly. Everyone grew up together and there were the occasional petty fights between the siblings, but it was never anything too serious. There were times when they didn't speak to each other for weeks, but it eventually got squared away. Her parents, of course, had their own fights as well, but they never threatened each other with divorce. Amy was a Daddy's Girl and she was never ashamed to admit it, even as she grew older. She loved spending time with her old man.

Years later, at the age of eighteen, Amy and the rest of her siblings found out that her dad had leukemia. Her dad hadn't told any of them, except their mother. So, when he had to go to the hospital, it ended up being a pretty big shock to the the four children. Now, Amy being a Dadd'y Girl, she was the one who was the most attached to him. His death affected her greatly and since then, she's sort of...been a bit more harsher than she normally has been. There are times when she misses her father so much that it hurts, but she would never admit it.

"I am completely happy with how 'popular' I am."
Amy doesn't have followers or anything. She's not at the top of the chain of cliques. Truthfully, she doesn't really belong to any clique. Sure, she likes music and used to like to play the guitar, but she's lost interest in that since the death of her father. The only best friends she has are Melanie, Ivory, and Callista. These four girls have gone through everything together and despite their personalities, they get along pretty well. Out of all three girls, though, Melanie had been her first best friend. They'd lived near each other in the neighborhood and their mothers had both been good friends, so their meeting each other was inevitable. The two have been inseperable since childhood.

Then came Ivory, during their fifth grade year. She had come from another cit, in the middle of the school year, and the first few days, she'd been made fun of and picked on. Eventually, Amy had gotten irritated with all the constant taunts that were clearly hurting the girl's feelings, so she told them to back off, before dragging Ivy over to where she and Mel always sat for lunch. She had told her that from that day on, she would be sitting with her and Mel for lunch and hanging out with them, that she could consider them as her friends. Of course, Ivory was grateful for the offer, but felt a little out of place at first, though she quickly adjusted.

The new addition to the group, however, had left Mel a little jealous. She didn't like the fact that she would probably have to share her time with Amy. That time was special. So, in an effort to make Amy jealous, she had started hanging out with one of the other quieter students in the class, Callista. It didn't really bother Amy all that much and eventually it had been clear to Mel that Amy wasn't really replacing her. Nonetheless, Callista had been dragged into the group, and since the fifth grade, the four girls have been inseperable.

Now, with friends, come enemies, right? Amy does have quite a few enemies, though she never really cares much for them. The only ones she'll feel are a threat are the ones that are a threat to the people she cares about. You wanna talk about her behind her back? Feel free to do so, she won't give a damn.

Finally, onto her love life. Amy is straight and well...she's never dated. Yeah, she had one crush from a long, long time ago. Since she was in fifth grade, actually. So, when she was asked to a school dance sometime in her freshman year, by her crush, she'd been excited. Turned out that the guy was just a jerk, and had stood her up, going with somebody else. Since then, she's never cared for boys or relationships that are more than friends or family, instead focusing on getting to certain point in her life. If love found her, great, and if not, oh well. It wasn't meant to be.

          ɴαмe Halim Najjar
          αɢe eighteen
          ɢeɴder male
role ever hear of Bloody Mary?

          we're introducing ourselves now?
well, it's not that halim is completely unsociable, but he feels like introductions are a very awkward and formal ritual only to be done when giving your sympathies or congratulating someone for something. when you're meeting someone for the first time, the appropriate response is to announce in a loud voice that he is the Greatest Man in the World, then leave it to the other person to figure out his name through conversation. introductions always tended to stagnate a conversation, halim found. halim's name is ethnically arabic--his entire name, mind--and he doesn't have a middle name, which never bothered him. it's one less thing he has to fill out on forms, right? he neither minds nor loves his name. halim is halim. that is all.
Halim's power is rather interesting. Halim has the capability to appear in reflective surfaces (not necessarily mirrors) at will, independent of his physical body. His reflective selves are fully functional, intelligent, and are capable of communicating with others. In addition, they make for great scouts and information gatherers. Halim is limited to having two separate reflective selves appearing at once, however, and can only appear in surfaces he has already been reflected in (so he can't transport himself into someone's house without some effort). However, if you were to make a reflection of his reflection, that counts too. So, say you have his reflection self in a compact mirror. If you put that mirror up to another in a house that physical Halim hasn't been in, it still counts if reflection Halim sees himself. Halim and his reflections are connected, so he can hear, see, and basically feel whatever they're feeling (which isn't much in a mirror). While they're technically present constantly, the reflection Halims will only appear when called. Just whisper onto the surface and Halim will send one over if he can spare one. He's working on getting three or more clones. When he sends off a clone, it's easiest to do it when he's staring at it, so Halim holds a small mirror with him for the convenience of it all. Depending on the situation, Halim's reflection may be moving independently of Halim while in the same room and sometimes Halim won't have a reflection at all.

halim is anything but athletic. okay, so he ran track and field in, like, middle school, and continues to go jogging once every, like, month, so his endurance isn't that bad (comparatively, it could be a ton worse), but honestly, he'll lose in any fight he gets into, whether it's a full out brawl or a thumb wrestle. he's lanky and thin (kind of like a string bean), and has hardly any muscle on him. halim certainly doesn't body build. he can run decent distances but he can't lift anything heavier than, say, fifty pounds? in other aspects, halim's hair is a smooth black. at one point, he tried cutting it close to his head, but that didn't really work out well. he mostly sweeps it up out of his face these days. surprisingly, it doesn't take half as much hair product as people think, although it's still perpetually tussled and is all around messy. but if he puts in anymore, he might as well be walking around with a hair salon on his head, which is the last thing halim wants. he really does have that beard though, although he makes sure it's never super overgrown or anything. super overgrown, hagrid-like beards really bother halim. he figures it looks nice, although other people have told him otherwise. oh, well. his eyes are brown and he usually wears glasses except on very special occasions which, in his book, are limited only to mourning or celebrating an award of some sort. his eyesight is terrible, so be merciful and don't steal his glasses, okay?

oh, I'm definitely the cool kid.
halim is the guy that's sitting in the background and soaking everything in. it's not that he's quiet and it's not that he's a sociopath or anything, but it's just that when he's in a crowd, he somehow disappears into the back. halim is not extremely notable. while he has a sense of humor, he is not the class clown. while he can get through classes all right, he's far from the class genius. while he is talkative enough, he certainly does not have a loud voice that carries over the ten other ones in the room. in short, halim is forgettable. it's easy to miss him sitting at the edge of the circle with his slight smile as he listens to the conversation going on around him. fortunately for him, halim is not someone that wants the leadership role. he has never wanted to be a group head or a mouthpiece. being in charge never occurred to him as something that he wanted. he'd much prefer to go about life in an easy, casual way--which is to say, he's lazy. although in a good way. halim certainly is studious, and he's able to get himself out of bed every morning at seven a.m. sharp to go to school. it's just that, when it comes to socializing and the food chain that is society, halim is the guy that's kind of floating on the side. he's been tracked through all the rungs, and he's mostly climbed up (or down) by association with specific people. basically, he went along for the ride. while it was nice being in the more popular crowd because their conversation was more generic, halim found that the lower status people were just as friendly. in any case, halim usually ends up eating alone or with a few colleagues. he has a hard time really connecting on a deep, emotional level with people, although he can usually figure out what makes people tick. for all of his lack of verbiage, halim makes up in observation. halim tends to remember a few notable, quirky things about a conversation, like how the candy cane colors of john harlem's christmas tree were neon blue and brown, or how jackie sullivan's mom had, the night before the conversation, perhaps three bottles of watered down cranberry vodka and ended up sound asleep on the floor and jackie had to clean up after her. all the important stuff, though, like calculus, has a hard time sticking to halim's head. he has what we'd call a 'selective memory'. he remembers what he wants to remember and discards everything else. when is he going to use the second derivative of a function to find the inflection points of an ideal graph? like, never. that's what he figures. halim has this way about him that allows him to be completely relaxed about everything in life, whether it was about having a test next period or finding out he bombed the said test the next day. it's incredible how careless he seems at times, but then again, maybe he really doesn't give a crap how his life turns out. again, he's totally accepting of everything. as such, he can both be easy and hard to talk to. while he seems to pay attention well enough, smiles, and nods in the correct places, your words are probably going in one ear and out the next while his brain filters out which parts are strange enough for him to remember. halim is easy to talk to because he's actually pretty decent at small talk. years of watching people do it themselves pretty much makes him an expert. he always asks the generic questions and is able to bust out a couple of small but polite jokes in the process. however, it's easy to find the conversation run dry and become bland after a while. this is where speaking with halim becomes hard. he doesn't present any interesting subjects to talk about, most of the time. halim is rather passionless for many things, and while he likes many things, there are few things that he believes are worth making an entire conversation about. similarly, he doesn't complain much because he really just learns to get over it very quickly. annoying people, ignorant people, stupid people, people that are downright insufferable, when a day just turns for the worst--halim just goes with it and accepts life for what it is. as such, he rarely complains, so if you want to rant with him on something, you'd better be sure it's a damn good subject, because the likelihood is that he'll just stare at you wondering why you're wasting his time. in all honesty, it takes a lot to work halim up into a real rage. he's a really chill, easygoing guy, and he's always willing to have a slight smile on his face that says that he's totally open to conversation even though he should really be doing something else, right now. however, if there is something that really sets him off (that's incredibly doubtful), he'll be very sure to make sure the score is settled somewhere, somehow. of all the things that he learns about people, you should remember that there are a few things you might've let slip around him. just because people don't talk to him a lot for the sake of friendship doesn't mean he doesn't tag along to parties where people get drunk and high and tell him all sorts of things they shouldn't. of course, halim isn't a total saint either, but he tries to make sure he's sober enough to drive, because he knows no one is going to bother driving him home. when he does find something that interests him (for better or for worse), he pursues it with irritating doggedness. it's impossible to convince him to do something otherwise, which is something, he thinks, he's entitled to, since he's so easy going all the other times. others always complain to him about their lives, so he figures that he can do whatever he wants once in a while no matter the expense if everyone else is taking advantage of the fact that he's the perfect pair of ears to whine to. although people rarely try and start a conversation with him willingly, and he rarely tries to make conversation, himself. he's perfectly aware of how hopeless he is at interesting chats. he actually likes having quiet time, however, and doesn't mind when he's left alone to think about random things for a while. if you purposefully ask him direct questions about his life, his interests, and so on and so forth, halim will probably answer you. it's not that he has anything to hide, it's just that if you don't ask yourself, then he assumes you're just not interested in the first place and you're kind of talking to him to basically brag about yourself, which if fine, really, but it's just that halim couldn't be bothered to tell his life story to someone that really doesn't care. surprisingly, halim has the capability to be quite eloquent and charming, and frankly, he actually could be a really great leader for his charisma. it's just that, again, he can't connect well with people. he just doesn't know how to do it. while he's not cold or completely unsympathetic, he's got trouble sincerely empathizing with other people and creatures. it's not to say that he's completely self-absorbed either, but in general, it's probably because he's heard so many versions of the same complained history that he can't be bothered to feel sorry for the person. there's someone else in line that'll have the same story who's looking for attention, and even halim has his limits. as such, he doesn't really have many friends--which he considers are people to the highest degree of trust. people he talks to on a regular basis are people that he calls "acquaintances". people he eats food with regularly and makes jokes and in general are more friendly with him than his acquaintances are his "colleagues". and after that are "friends", although he has, like, none of them. friends, by his definition, are people you can trust infallibly, and he's not really met someone yet that he feels he can trust and who can put their trust in halim, because he's not going to bother pulling through for someone that doesn't think halim is worth depending on. what sort of friendship is that? halim really will pull through for people he cares about, although if you're not one of them, then you'll have to settle for his politely, every-plastered on, conversational smile. he doesn't owe you anything, and he knows it.

          nothing much happened, you know.
halim was born on December twelfth. he has both an iranian and an american citizenship, although that hardly matters anymore. he was born in Iran but moved soon after, as his parents wanted to get away from the politics of it all. they soon immigrated to the United States, where halim grew up. subsequently, he's much better at English than Arabic, although if you engage him in casual conversation, he can get by fairly easily. halim mostly went about his business and went with the flow. he didn't complain, make much of a ruckus, or otherwise become much of a hindrance for anyone to the best of his abilities. he was not overly exceptional in school but had solid crap to A-s, and no one really raised a fuss. he went out for a couple of sports and fell into track and field for most of the time because he found his muscular potential wasn't exactly high. for a while, he was perfectly content with his life. halim had long since gotten used to the idea of being one of the overshadowed siblings in a family of six. he was the second youngest of the family and thus easily looked over in favor for others. halim never really minded. he preferred to stay in the background. the leadership role was never something that he really wanted. it never appealed to him. again, he goes with the flow. that being said, he was generally popular for his geniality and cordiality. He was never outright mean to anyone, but then again, he wasn't overly trusting with anyone either. halim failed to make many "best" friends, although he had crowds of "friends" at school. somehow, though, he ended up sitting alone at a table during free periods or lunch. then again, he never minded. he liked the quiet time. it seems like halim never much minded anything. sometime during his first seen years, his parents began talking about divorce, although at the time it didn't really occur to him as something to worry about. however, it really did happen, although it was all taken care of calmly and quietly. it wasn't that there was some sort of exuberant reason why his parents separated. they just didn't love each other much anymore. and while halim did love his father when he was a child, now that he's older and his father hasn't really bothered to keep contact with the family, halim honestly couldn't care less about the guy. he doesn't much mind talking about the past, though, since he really doesn't feel upset when he thinks about it. frankly, he was never extremely close with his father, although if you try and take a dig at his mom in any way, halim will definitely reject you and your existence. don't test him on this. the lady raised six children and shipped them all through school and college (most of them, anyway, that are old enough to). his mom is his hero simply because of the feats she's managed by herself.
At present, Halim hasn't really noticed his powers much, although he does have them already. He's really just worrying about finishing off school and choosing his next step. Being one of the volunteers to the next colonization sites would be cool, but then again, Halim has other things he considers "cool". Admittedly, there's not really a place of passionate interest for him at the moment. But now that he's getting closer and closer to judgement day, he's feeling uncharacteristically pressured, stressed, and a lot more short tempered than usual. And he thinks he's going crazy with fatigue too, because sometimes his reflection fails to move quite with him...

          it's okay, I guess.
halim's definitely gone out with people in the past, but he's never really fallen for anyone super hard. there's been some crushes here and there, some infatuations, and some unhealthy obsessions in his freshman year in particular, but in general, halim's love life has been kind of uneventful. it's mostly because he's not the type to really tell people all about himself in one go right off the bat, although he doesn't really avoid direct questions. but if it's not the subject of the conversation, halim has the nasty habit of directing the topic towards someone else--anyone else--but him. while it's nice to have a lot of attention at first, his partners usually find that it's exasperating to have to date someone that doesn't talk about themselves--ever--and doesn't really seem to forge a deep devotion to you, which halim really doesn't do. he has the capability to be fiercely loyal, but you really, really, really have to earn it, and a shared basket of chili fries at a mall is not going to cut it.

          p e r s o n a ; Cause I'm lazy and I copied and pasted.
The first thing you will ever need to know about Gabrielle is she isn't going to ever lay down and take what you throw at her. She is going to stick up for herself, and defend all that matters to her. She's a ball of fire, ready to burn anything in her way. Gabry has never been the type of girl to let a man just walk all over her. These Boots are Made for Walkin' by Nancy Sinatra describe her perfectly; never letting somebody make the choices for her.
The second thing about Gabrielle is she is extremely independent. Women that just rely on men are simpletons and dead-broke females who want a meal ticket. It isn't her style to ever rely on anybody else. Really, the only thing group projects taught her was you can't rely on anybody because they will always fall short. If you yourself don't go the extra mile, then why should she? Gabrielle isn't afraid of getting a bad grade just to show you what you caused. She may not be a fan of it, but Gabry has done it before. When she was younger, and horribly afraid of her parents, she would always pick up the slack of the other children. Soon after, though, she became frustrated with her reputation as the girl who would always fix the issue at hand. She quickly quit following through with her promises, and her rep went down. But she had learned a valuable lesson; nobody will ever go the extra mile, unless you yourself don't.
Along with her cryptic aspect on group work, Gabry is extremely independent. She's the type of girl who prefers track meets over volleyball, cheer, and dance because she hates working with other girls. If one breaks their leg, where does that leave her? Now, Gabry doesn't always have this dark, depressed outlook on other people. Usually, if you can prove yourself in her eyes, you will become her ... shall we say somewhat of an idol? maybe it's too strong a word, but she will admire you in some form. Picking up on her slack is something she doesn't like though. She knows she's fully capable of taking care of herself and her part, so tiding up her problems won't sit well with her. Now, fixing another person's stupidity is amazing for Gabry, but her own is just plain annoying. Which leads us to her next trait; she's moody.
Gabry isn't just moody at her feminine time o' the month, but when anything that doesn't go somewhat in her way happens. For example, when her family moves, and she loves her current life, she becomes moody, and cut off with them. Never will she do dangerous things because of it, but she may just snip at people for messing with her perfectly good life. Gabry does understand change, and that it's great for the mind and body, but quote; "OH MY GOD!? EVERY MONTH TO MOVE SOMEWHERE?" As you can read, she is very frustrated with her parents moving habits. One of the worst times to get on her bad side would be when she's having difficulty in her extracurricular life. Any normal human being would be extraordinarily frustrated when things pretty much start to fall apart. Well, Gabrielle kind of takes things into a whole new level. She will lock herself in her room with her iPod and her dog, just listening to the two together, or playing with the puppy on the ground. She doesn't eat, doesn't talk, she doesn't even answer her mother's calls to dinner or outings. Her mom had pretty much learned to leave Gabry alone when she needed to be.
Gabry isn't selfish, per se, but she can be a tad self-involved. When it comes down to it, her needs will always be put above yours, but she will share generously. This is an interesting mix of the two, but she can be very generous. For example in a situation where the two conjoin is when her family has just had dinner, and there is only a little bit of food left. Her and her younger brother are hungry, so they decide to split it. Now, of course, splitting something means divvying up the spoils. Gabrielle will take some for her, to satisfy her need instead of giving it all to her younger sibling, but she will give him a little more than herself, because he's growing, and she's totally good with her weight. It can be a virtue or a sin, depending on the situation, but then again, so does her level of enthusiasm.
Gabry is usually an outgoing, enthusiastic person without any ego problems. She enjoys coming up with the best dares at all the cool parties, usually has somebody to hang out with, and knows when to keep her mouth shut around teachers. That however, doesn't mean she's the cliche person. She knows how to have a lot of fun, but she's careful where it's at. Shoplifting is totally out of the question for her, because she knows it's easy to get away with, but when you're caught, you're screwed. It ceases to amaze Gabry how shoplifting and other illegal activities are fun ... you just get into trouble, and for what? That high? She'll be the first to tell you that that's ridiculous. There isn't any high you get from breaking the law. You're terrified, and the adrenaline gets going. If you're looking for a thrill, go cliff diving for fun. [yes, she's done it once.]
Gabry can't stand laziness. It's like this god awful pet peeve of hers. You want to upset Gabrielle, be lazy around her. That's why she can't stand her younger brother. Another thing she hates with a deep, dying passion is the driver's license district office. What is up with those horrible lines? The day she got her license was bad enough, but renewing them without missing a day or two of her life? Impossible. It's like Satan's little building to say "Now you're just being tested to see how well you hold up in my personal office." Her final largest issue is human nature. She loves to question things, and figure out if they're realistic or not, so when humans just brush things off as unimportant, and later go "Oh, should've listened, but oh well. I'm too lazy." causes her to struggle with her many moods. You either listen to her the first time, or you just ... hope for a quick death by her petite hands.
Some of the few things this girl is scared of are spiders, drowning, and suffocation. It's not exactly death that scares her, but the fact that she doesn't want to suffer by explosion of the lungs. Gabrielle does strangely know how to swim, so that's something that's fairly unusual for somebody, but drowning still terrifies her. Unless she inhales water, she's great in pools, lakes, rivers, and oceans. Suffocation is pretty much the same scenario. I guess you could just call it something along the lines of panicking that she's going to be conscious when and if her lungs explode. It's rather irrational, but it's how she feels, so you can't deny it, really.
At last, we hit her loves; family, beagles, and laughing. Laughing is something along the lines of her salvation. She constantly tells the story of a rich man who was on his death-bead, and ordered a jester, who upon employment, threw a pie at the man. The man soon after became upset because the pie-man ruined his sheets, so he threw it right back. The look on the jester's face was so funny, that the rich man began laughing. Each day, the jester came back, and the rich man's deadly disease vanished until many years later when he finally died of plain old age. She really wants to die like the rich man; laughing and loving life. Family is another "like" of hers. Her family matters most to her in her life, and she's going to do anything she can to protect them. Her hidden courage usually shines through when they're in trouble or sadness hits. She tries to be the shoulder to cry on. It may not always work, but it is something Gabry really strives for. And finally, her favorite animal is the beagle. she has almost an obsession with their floppy ears, and the way their noses follow anything they can pick up. She owns one herself, named Nemo, and the little six month old boy is quite the adventurous fellow. Gabry regularly excersizes him, and keeps him well trained. Training him is a skill requiring patience, and a lot of peanut butter, but she does it, because she loves the little guy

          h i s t o r y ; Same reason as above. XP
Gabry's mother went into labor on April fools day, and thought she was going to get a trickster of a daughter. Apparently not. Gabry developed a severe case of pneumonia at only two months old, and was forced to stay in the hospital for another whole month. Really, Gabrielle wasn't able to leave the hospital for good until she was almost six months. Right after her pneumonia vanished, colic decided to invade her immune system. From an early age, her stomach was very achy, and she never felt ok with anybody touching it. She loves personal space, and always had. Her dad and her mom weren't exactly best of friends when she was little. The two of them had Gabrielle out of wedlock, so she herself as a human being was told she wasn't supposed to exist, because she "ruined" her mother's chance of having a normal family. Personally, Gabrielle has a secret loathing of her dad, because of the way he treated her mom. Once, when Gabry was little, she remembered him actually threatening her mom, and Gabry's mom taking her and running away. It was the safest thing to do at the time. But as she grew up, she began to hate the few days she had to go to her father's house. Slowly, he did however drift away when he remarried until he didn't want to see Gabry anymore. Gabry's stepfather was an entire different story. By the time she was in third grade, Gabry's mother had gone through two other boyfriends; a controlling one, and a drug addict. Her mom wasn't aware of the drugs in the second one until his brother passed away, but it was enough for her to take Gabry and run. Gabry's stepfather was a kind man. He was the one who raised her. He went to all of her school activities, and took her out to dinner on her birthdays. Her father wasn't really there until she turned fourteen. And even then, he wasn't around much. A frustrated Gabry finally plucked up the courage to demand never seeing him again, unless it was to visit her half siblings.
Later, Gabry's mother and her stepfather had a son. This was when Gabry was eleven, so the age difference was rather large. She was constantly baby sitting, voluntarily, actually, and enjoyed teaching him everything. It wasn't that she didn't like her alone time, but Gabry liked that he loved her unconditionally. Something she hadn't ever really felt. Her and her mom were different, but somebody younger was new. Her half siblings over at her father's, and her stepmother weren't exactly welcoming. She did however have a friend of her younger sibling's babysitter who she enjoyed talking to. Gabry would normally spend a night every weekend she was there for. This friend was actually two years older than her, but the two of them got along just fine. All around, Gabry had a fair childhood. Her friends were nice. Abstinence was easy for her, because she didn't want her child to go through the h--l she was in, and honestly, she did well at it. Throughout her childhood, Gabry kind of adopted a little beagle, who is now seven [she got him when she was eighteen] and he's been the only true consistency in her life. The little thing always loved her, and will until the day he dies. Gabry's been through a bit, but it's not tragic, really. Nowadays, this story is becoming more and more common. Gabry's relatively used to it.

she'll ever end up with jenta as her maiden name either. a good thing to, because she likes
her name exactly as it is. jamie jenta, nothing more, nothing less.

AGE seventeen since february seventeenth - her golden birthday. not many can say they've
had the privilege of celebrating theirs. though it didn't feel any different or more "special"

sharp eyebrows and double pierced ears. the nineteen year old typically loads on some black
mascara and eyeliner, as well as her favorite berry colored lipstain. jamie's body is average,
as average as it gets. five feet seven, wiry with a fair bit of muscle, ordinary curves. one could
say the only remarkable piece of her whole appearance is her angular face.

PSYCHE now that all of the basics have been addressed, there is one question left un-
answered. who is jamie jenta? she's not the tender, enthusiastic, bubbly type. in fact, she's
quite the opposite. sarcastic and pessimistic, jamie won't do you any favors and definitely
won't follow orders. she refuses to be held down by anything or anyone. she does what she
pleases, when she pleases. it doesn't matter to her whether you approve or not. what's the
    point in caring, really?

it's hard to believe jamie will ever fall in love. she's too much of an independent, defiant
young woman to be dragged about by a boyfriend, and god-forbid a husband. but perhaps
there's more to this lass than it appears on the surface. her front of disinterest and care-
lessness only extends so far. on the flipside, there is a sensitive, hopeless romantic. a girl
who longs for someone to love her when no one else will. but, she's built this fort over far
too many years for anyone to crack it...but maybe, one day, someone will.

don't be alarmed though, for jamie is not entirely unapproachable. her free-willed nature
actually makes her quite fun-loving, and at such times, you can see a little past her facade.
she's just wary. treat her right and you'll find a loyal friend with the right virtues.

POWER after exiting the simulacrum, jamie realized the power she had selected during
the simulation had, alas, stuck with her, granting her the gift of telekinesis. it's thrilling, yes,
but also nerve-racking. what if she can't control her new powers? what will happen then?

Adel Jamie Kurone

    Basics
    { Name } Abel
    { Nickname } Abelie
{ Age } Just turned fourteen
    { Gender } Male

{ Physical Appearance } Abel looks younger then he is, standing at nearly 5'1 with a slight build and soft features complete with large, brown eyes typical of little children. There's minimal muscle on him and little weight as well, as if he could just float away if a particularly strong gust of wind came by. He's strikingly pale -often with rosy cheeks and a red nose to contrast- which stands out against his dark-chocolate coloured hair. His legs are long and his torso lanky, giving him the look of an athletic child. Abel's hair is always a mess and rather fluffy, hovering around his head in a sleepy -or chaotic- halo. Lastly, Abel dresses simply in somewhat loose, bright clothing, usually a tee-shirt a size too big for him, a pair of shorts, and sandals.

{ Personality } Abel is immature. He loudly interrupts conversations that he's not wanted in, usually with unrelated comments about something shiny he saw. He'll talk endlessly about what interests him, not realizing when others really don't want to listen or care. On that note Abel is clingy, latching onto the nearest person whenever he needs something and refusing to leave them alone. He's dependent on others and prone to getting lost when by himself, both mentally and literally. It seems difficult for him to even make a sandwich on his own.

It doesn't help that Abel is hyperactive and constantly moving, while turning around every few moments to make sure someone else is there. He wants to see every new thing and be ready for the next, while dragging someone with him to be a human shield if necessary.

{ Current Situation } Abel's parents are the type that let their children do as they wish. Considering they have six and keeping an eye on Abel, his two younger sisters, older brother, and older sister would be impossible, perhaps it's not such a bad idea. They don't really bat an eye if one of their youngsters doesn't come home for a day or two, which is worrying, but they're loving nonetheless and Abel has little against them other then the typical teenage grudge. He spends much of his time out of the house and away from him family, so being gone for awhile doesn't make anyone suspicious.

{ Power } Abel decided he wanted something more complicated when he entered the game. He can manipulate his own life force, so to speak, for various purposes. It can be used for healing, but he takes a slightly smaller version of the wound himself. It doesn't work if he tries to heal himself. He can also make what he calls 'sharp air', which is kind of like a set of invisible blades made out of 'life force' that he can manipulate. The effort often makes him pass out, and he's prone to taking wounds when he uses them.

At the start
name;; Aspen Graye Valentine

gender;; Female

age;; Sixteen

power;; Heat manipulation
in general;; ---
side affects;; ---
stability;; ---
knowledge;; ---

You get a picture
hair;; Long, dark brown, with a hint of red.

eyes;; Hazel brown

But there's something deeper
first glance;; She often appears confident, but her skeptical
attitude is most obvious when she is told something by others,
for she is quite suspicious of everyone being a liar.

personality;; independent - sarcastic - suspicious

Aspen is a generally independent girl. She lives for her freedom and is insistent on making her own decisions. She is quite confident in her own beliefs of what is right and wrong, and isn't a girl who will let anyone persuade her otherwise. She is stubborn to a point where trying to change her mind is like telling a tree to move - it's not going to happen. Her perseverance can be admired, but she sometimes doesn't know when to give up, though her determination and persistence is sometimes amusing. Any time in which she gives up is sporadic, for she has an awfully competitive disposition and always needs to come out on top, especially when it comes to an argument. She frequently uses sarcasm, which can become irritating, but it comes naturally to her, especially when she is brought into a serious conversation. She doesn't do well conversing about hers or other peoples' feelings, and often resorts to a sneering comment in this situations. These remarks often portray a certain level of disbelief. She's doubtful of many people, unable to trust them with her own emotions and deep thoughts, while constantly undermining other people with her ever-present uncertainty in them.

likes;; coffee - art - history

dislikes;; fiction[especially romance] - music - whipped cream

Inside the heart
sexual orientation;; unknown. she seems more comfortable around girls.

crush;; n/a

family;; she lives with her mother and two siblings.
She has one older sister and one younger brother.
