~History and Habitat~

It is believed that the Likorn first developed in the dense ancient forests of England and Scotland during the 13th and 14th centuries. They thrived in the forests of the highands. There has been some bone evidence that perhaps they have spread on through into the mountain ranges of Europe however there are little signs of evidence of this.

The Likorn numbers began to drop as the human population exploded with the increase of agriculture and in places, these majestic creatures were captured and trained to pull carts. These were found uncommonly through the highlands of Northern Scotland in remote areas where the human population mixed with the Likorns.

During the industrial revolution of the late 17th century it is written that the Likorn was driven to extinction in the wild with the deforestation of their natural habitats as well as the increased number of sheep farms that took large amounts of land.

Some log books of the sailors heading across the Atlantic ocean to the New World during the 18th century described some of the pack horses being shipped over to either be Likorns from the northern farms of Scotland, or had Likorn genetics. They wrote that they were strong, hardy little horses, but were flighty and unfit for the cavalry.

Once in the new world Likorns escaped from the human confinements or were abandoned for the more desirable heavy breeds developing in the cold weather of the New World. Here they vanished into the forests of Canada and North Eastern United States and have flourished.

The Likorn most often is found in the northern boreal forests of the Canadian Shield. These forests are characterised by predominantely pine and spruce trees, as well as the other evergreens. There is a slight mix of deciduous birch, oak and maple trees along the southern end. There are many large, rocky hills with sharp cliff ledges and boulders covered with lichens and mosses.

The lowlands are characteristed by many lakes and rivers and in places, by swamps. There are long low meadows between the rocky, tree covered hills with lush grasses and wild flowers. The lakes are large and chilly with the fresh water flowing down from the upper shield.

The summers are fairly warm with a moderate rainy season and a shorter growing season. The winters are bitterly cold with a chilly north wind blowing down from the arctic. Snow blankets the world in a thick white sheet, making life difficult for those remaining there.

~Characteristics~

~ Pony sized; with an average height of 12.2hh usually not making it over 14.2hh

~ Powerful roman nose from Shire horse background

~ Unicorn horn used primarily for healing, for showing off, or protection

~ Large, intelligent eyes with excellent vision

~ Long, tufted ears with good, but not exceptionally good hearing

~ Powerful legs which help them to climb the steep rocky slopes

~ Thick feathery fur found on the lower legs below the hock and knee which helps to fight off the chill of the winter

~ Cloven hooves to help them run along the mossy rocks of the Canadian shield and wade through the marshes of the lowlands

~ Slim, fragile body likely due to the unicorn genes so they are not able to carry a rider, however they are able to pull small carts

~ Long tail with thick long hair which helps to trap body heat

~ Natural colours of horses are most common

~ Strong unicorn genes may cause a splash abnormal colouring

~ Grow a thick fuzzy winter coat each year to ward off the extremely cold temperatures

~ Not a naturally long mane, but if tended to carefully it will grow a little bit more.

~ Skittish and flighty in nature, very energetic and wild

The long single unicorn horn that grows from their forehead in a sharp spiral seem to be used by the males during the breeding season to impress the females, as well as for protection. It has been seen at times that a Likorn with a strong unicorn genetic background may be able to cause the tip of their horn to glow and in some cases heal a wounded individual.

~ Mares and stallions have, for now, 2 breeding slots that can be used (this may be revamped.)
~ Send a trade after I have accepted your request; foals will not be started until payment is sent
~ Whoever is recieving the foal pays for it

So my rules are basically the same as Kita's
- I wont take any suggestions on colours, markings, or gender
- I don't do customs
- You send me a Pm when open, with a link to both the Mare and Stallions adoption page. If you don't own one of them, I need proof that the owner has agreed to breeding.
- The person who is requesting pays, thank you
- Only 2 breeding slots for every stallion and mare.

I think that is it for now, Kita will tell me if I missed antyhing.
