Name: Daiya-Alma
Nicknames?: She is sometimes called ‘The Daiya’ or ‘The Alma’
Break it down: Daiya- ダイヤ Japanese meaning diamond; Alma- Derived from the Arabic word 'almasi' meaning diamond. It is a double meaning however, Alma also meaning ‘soul’ in Portuguese.
Why this name? I like to give my characters names that suit their stories or personalities. I thoroughly studied 'Antigone' by Sophocles and Aristotle’s works during the 10th grade and found it interesting how their characters names have a deep meaning themselves. Antigone, for instance, means 'unbending', referring to the way she remains unbending to Creon's rule. And Haemon means 'bloody' foreshadowing the youth's bloody suicide which leads to the role and reversal of his father Creon.
Ill try not to drone on as I usually do, but the diamond references will hopefully become clear at some point soon throughout her biography as I explain and emphasize the symbolism behind the title.

Diamonds, what do they represent? Quite obviously, different cultures interpret things differently. But things I take into account for her specifically are...
•Diamonds are glorified for being the most perfect of the earth’s stones. For being romantic and expensive, of the finest material. These are all traits that suit Daiya very well. Also, if one were to translate her name (Daiya-Alma) as ‘Diamond- Soul’ this could indicate that her soul is pure, of the highest quality. Again, symbolic.
•The diamond motif represents the concept of transformation and immortality
•Immortality here is seen in the migratory patterns of the butterfly where they flock by the millions after traveling thousands of miles – coming home. A Monarch’s return home was translated to mean the soul’s journey home. Monarchs are said by Natives to move in a triangular pattern when migrating from North America to the south.
•Furthermore, the diamond butterfly motif conveys the element of rebirth, revitalization, and metamorphosis. Just as the migratory journey is analogous of the spiritual path of reuniting with the Divine self – so too is the biological journey of the butterfly symbolic of the same said spiritual path. From egg, larva, pupa, to butterfly each stage holds merit and each step is taken to the advancement of an enlightened, immortal conclusion (which, to the Native, would not be a conclusion at all, but leading to a gateway of eternal expression through the Mother upon the completion of metamorphosis).
•Ancient English cultures relating to alchemy believed the four sided diamond to be a symbol of creation, of life
•Ruins found with this symbol speak of the partnership between night and day with the center-point represented as the dawn.

More than the literal translation of the symbol, it is the vibrational tone, or the higher energetic wisdom with which the symbol meaning resonates that I wish to convey

Classification: Ancient Earth Goddess
Physical anatomy: Sleekly built with short, soft fur. Her markings resemble that of a tigers, her coat colors are comparable to a red panda's and her body is almost stoat like in shape. With such an elongated figure her movements mimic that of a weasel of sorts. Swift and lithe. She has rounded ears and a slightly blunted muzzle (though elegantly done so) with two large bicolored eyes. Her tail is long and has slightly longer fur than the rest of her body, often held just slightly above the ground while walking.
She has a very light bone structure, and though she rarely does she can gravitate and bound higher than even the most capable mortal creature.

Special abilities?
•Arguably she is able to induce a sense of tranquility into others. Now, it is hypothesized that this could be because of her perplexing beauty, however, many choose to believe that it is an ability of hers triggered by her right eye in particular. This is because not all deities seem to have the same calmness around her.
•She has natural healing capabilities. According to legend the female uses her powers to heal sick and wounded warriors as well as forest creatures. Despite being a nature goddess she has once or twice helped humans who have not been so deserving of her power, never regretting her decision even if the human never had a change of heart afterwards.
•Alma’s left eye is able to impel strong romantic emotions in mortals. Her left eye has earned the title of ‘the love spot.’ Not only can she make someone fall for another, but also for objects. There is more than one form of love after all. Using this eye she is also able to see others greatest ambitions and dreams, however, she requires eye contact in order to do either. In order for someone to feel the effects of any of her eye related abilities they must have their gaze meet hers. No mortal can resist her abilities unless they have been charmed or have armament against it.
•She has superhuman longevity, able to live a substantial amount of years more than any mortal.
•She is much more agile than any earthbound creature. She can faster than a normal human and to possess greater flexibility and with higher/farther jumping capacity. She also has enhanced senses and strength, though not much strength. There is much more focus on speed.

Nota Bene: Blue is known to signify peace and tranquility while purple is a luxurious color that stands for nobility, romance and ambition. Thus making her colors symbolic of her abilities.
All symbols used here have some sort of meaning relating back to her ability.

♦Character is situational, but it is the consistent patterns in one’s nature that forms their personality….

Generally speaking- To many males, there seems to be something very seducing or appealing about this love goddess. Even to those not of the same species or natural division. There is a certain tranquility, understanding, and softness to her, which isn’t ever conveyed without an overwhelming sense of nobility and poise. She is dainty in physical movement, truly an exquisite creature who could only be carved by a hand skilled enough to handcraft an ant out of the hardest of stones.

Trustworthy- Alma isn’t one to lie, unless of course she feels that she must. Being self-assured she does tend to be honest even when she shouldn’t, feeling that any ramifications that may come of her actions can be resolved easily. Just one of the many symptoms that comes with such great power. But a very harmful one at that.

Loyal- A very dependable character Alma feels that she has an allegiance to not the common good so much as morality in itself. An example being of how she would save a man who had done immoral things. Even if it may not have been for the benefit of others to help him, she wouldn’t feel able to let harm come to that man as she feels morally obligated as a greater being to help all mortals. Though she tends not to make deals with mortals or even other deities when she does she keeps to her word, and believes firmly against chicanery.

Wise- Despite being young for a goddess in comparison to humans Alma has lived an extended lifespan. This makes her, by comparison, inevitably much more enlightened. In the eyes of other gods she is still very youthful however, and indeed she has much to learn before she could ever join the allcreators. For now she is just acting as a pawn among them. Taking orders and being limited to whatever instructions she is given by her mentor.

Confident- She is calm and collected in all that she does, a result of her exorbitant hubris and naturally serene personality.

Intelligent- (creative, crafty)

Mischief maker- A habit she is beginning to break, is a bit vengeful because of her pride, finds it difficult to forgive people who have offended her

♦In a land that never was, in a time, that could never be…

"At many points throughout history man often forgets his mortal nature and places himself on an immortal level. Pride, the product of a nurtured sense of power often consumes and corrupts its host, taking a parasitic character. A parasite will feed and in the end somehow rupture or destroy its associate, similar as to how Asteroth’s pride blinds him from heeding god’s law as it would cause him to contradict his own decree, resulting in his own self-destruction. Several times Asteroth is given offers by the gods to repent for his wrongdoings, and while he wants to, he doesn't have the freedom to. He broke away from the allfathers rule as he'd felt too limited by the decrees, but in the end, by leaving he'd only lost any sense of freedom he'd ever had. He inevitably in the end suffers as his excessive pride prevents him from repenting for his wrongdoings."

The voice that spoke now seemed to almost pulsate through Alma's head, a faint sigh dripping from her curvaceous mouth as she padded steadily along. It was rather obvious she was bored of whatever lecture her mentor was giving her, the tale of Asteroth's betrayal of the gods now sounding like an indolent recording. A customary frown marked the once serene facade of her educator,

G'reth
Her birth name is really Greta, but after the 'incident', she was forced to change it. She chose something different, I believe G'reth is a Welsh word. I'll have to look up it's origin in more detail.

Why do you want this animal and what will you do for it?:

I have been thinking about applying for G'reth so some time now, and finally announced I would during a join.me session a few days ago. I started writing my form, but circumstances didn't allow me to post it until yesterday. Before I knew it many other people had jumped on the wagon, also putting forms in for her. My chances started to grow slim for winning her, I'm not very good at writing massive forms. But the determination to win this wonderful character is more than I can imagine. G'reth is a beautiful creature whom I would be honored to call my own. I would provide her with a nice home on my developing character thread, or make a site for her to reside on. She would be a great friend for my fursona and other characters. G'reth would also receive art, whenever I can draw her or order art of her. I'll have to track down some human artists here and on dA to provide good quality art. She would be actively used too, no need to worry about that.

Personality:

One cannot simply write a personality and stick to it word by word throughout the entire story. The character's personality traits my suddenly change from an event in their lives. Here I plan to write the absolute basis for G'reth's personality, but she will change some of her traits during her life. I will make note of them with a blue text colour that outlines the event where she has changed.

G'reth hadn't always been one to shy away from people other than her immediate family. She loved going out with her sister to parties, and with her friends to the movies or just going out. G'reth was a normal social butterfly. It was her older sister Gwen who had ruined it for G'reth. Gwen took G'reth to a party, and things had gone terribly wrong. G'reth was a 16 year old, going out with her 18 year old sister.

I think it was a Friday. Yeah, the usual day to have parties. Gwen, my dear older sister had promised Mother and Father that she would look after me for the night. Mother and Father were going out for dinner. We didn't want another sitter, not after what happened last time. Gwen took ages to get ready, she always did. This was something I could never understand. Why put so much effort into your image for one measly night? I mean, sure I liked to dress up when I was going out, but I didn't take this long. I glanced down the hall, from my bedroom doorway, into the entry. Mother was applying the last touches before she was ushered out of the house by Father. She said a good bye, have a good night. Love you. Father gave his usual nod and heart-warming smile. As soon as the door was shut, Gwen came out of the bathroom. I could now see why she spent so long in there. "Gwen, where on earth did you get that dress? If you bent over even slightly, people would be able to see your undies." It was clear that Gwen had been avoiding our parents, they would have never approved of even buying the thing she called a dress. "Oh Grety, calm down. It's the biggest party of the year. I had to wear something that would get me noticed. By all the wrong people. "At least put on some tights." I waltzed out of the doorway into her room, grabbed a nice pair of pink tights and shoved them in her arms. "At least they'll match your accessories."

G'reth also displays great amounts of determination, she would never back down from anything if she strongly believes in it. Her core belief in this 'new world' is that everyone should be treated as equals, there should be no discrimination against anyone at all, no matter what they've done or where they're from. With this said, G'reth also believes in justice. Punishment is best served steaming hot around G'reth. Sure, all the discrimination beliefs she holds she strongly believes, but if someone has done something morally wrong, she believes they should be punished.

Kindness is something that would stay with G'reth for the rest of her life. Never once has it failed her. She was most kind towards her sister Gwen, the pair had a very strong bond that wouldn't ever be broken. Not even when G'reth's 'incident' happened. Gwen would try and be by her sister's side, and G'reth always returned the favor.

Appearance before:

G'reth is a shorter, svelte young woman. She has long, strait hair that is a mouse-grey colour. A wonderful contrast to her magnificent blue eyes. Her skin tone is a darker one, which she inherited from her mother. G'reth's mother was of a darker-skin origin, currently unknown, but most likely from Barbados or one of the Caribbean Islands. Her father of British-German decent.

Appearance after:

G'reth skin turned a more grey colour during the experiment, and is expected to either stay that colour or fade and dapple as she gets older, eventually turning a light grey. Her hair turned a lighter blue-grey, but remained long and strait. She developed a short tail, much like a Grey Wolf's. G'reth's hands and feet also took on a Wolf-like appearance, her fingernails extending out into sharp talons.
Her structure is is svelte, though she might have gotten slightly taller. G'reth's bones are now made from a light-weight metal, giving her bionic limbs. Her eyes are still a brilliant blue, it's the only thing she has that links her back to her old life.

Likes:

• Scarves
  G'reth loves scarves, and is always wearing one. The love came from one birthday when G'reth was a young girl, under the age of 7, where she was presented with an orange/red scarf from Gwen. She was so proud to receive the scarf from Gwen, and insisted on wearing it everywhere. Over the years G'reth had collected many more scarves of a variety of different colours and patterns, but the orange/red 'original' has always remained her favorite.
• Cherries
  G'reth's secret pleasure in life are cherries. She describes it as being like chocolate, aside from the fact she is allergic to cocoa beans and has never actually eaten chocolate before. G'reth is fascinated with the plump little berry. The glossy red skin delights her and the pip is 'fun is spit out'. She just cant get enough of them. Unfortunately for her, cherry prices where she lived are quite high, so it's a sort of delicacy to her when she does get to have them.
• Puzzles
  G'reth could literally sit in her room all day and do puzzles, provided her food and water was brought to her on demand. Any type of puzzle would keep her busy for a couple of hours, but G'reth has always preferred the 'magical' themed ones. Fairies, princesses, pegaus', unicorns and wizards just to name a few. Gwen sometimes used to help G'reth, but they could never agree on where the piece would go, and eventually one of the girls would leave in a huff. G'reth has a sign for her bedroom door that reads; "Do not disturb. Puzzle Master at work.
  Knock 5 times if food or water."

History/Background:

Dazed and confused, G'reth lifted up her head into a fierce light. It burned into her eyes, her delicate skin, until a shadow came across her bare body. Her jade green eyes started to adjust to the harsh light. She could see the outline of a man in front of her. The shadow. G'reth could just make out the gas mask, the lab coat, and the rubber gloves holding what looked like another, smaller gas mask. It inched towards her face, those rubber fingers and the mask. G'reth started to squirm. She could not move. Her hands were bolted down, a brace around her neck. She began to cry out, pleading for help. The mask came closer, until it was hovering above her blood-drained lips. The world started to go white.

G'reth though she was still dreaming. Her world was all white. She looked down at the pristine white tunic she was wearing. The tunic was the only thing she was wearing. She got up from the bed, also all white, and walked over to the solid white walls. Placing a hand on the wall, she started to think. To remember. A clutter came from behind the southern wall; G'reth quickly pulled her hand away and turned. Her thoughts gone. She could hear the sound of a door unlocking. That familiar click. A nurse came into the room, pushing a stainless steel table in front of her. G'reth looked up at her, glancing in her eyes. Kindness. She managed a weak smile. The pair did not speak. Only the medication was given. 2 small, red tablets and a tiny vial of a light blue liquid. G'reth wanted to question what the liquid was, but the nurse shoved the vial in her mouth with one swift movement as she opened her mouth to talk. "To help your insides."
The nurse had a husky voice, something you wouldn't expect from a woman of her appearance. The kindness that was in her eyes soon vanished, and only hatred replaced it. Hatred towards what, G'reth couldn't work out, but she was certain it wasn't directed at her.

As soon as I saw Brandy, I teared up. She reminded me so much of little Brandon's first picture, which was buried with him.
A blue puppy dog with a reddish-orange collar.
I started crying, remembering the beautiful baby boy of which I had babysat for, and my parents...Well, they think I'm insane.
Brandy would be loved forever in my care. I would use her for OCT's, comics, animations, whatever I could to make sure she's loved. She won't only be used as a character; she'll be used as a guardian angel for my neighbours. I pray for them every night, hoping that they'll soon be comforted by the loss of their third and youngest child.
