Wiesel; trying to win him ^^ <3
"C'mon, Char, can we please go to the bakery?" Tea begged me, bouncing up and down happily on my shoulder. I shivered a little in the freezing cold air of the park. "I dunno, Tea...I think Jay really wanted to check on her bird feeder." I looked down at the little blue bergamot pup trotting by my feet. Jay looked up at me. "Yeah! I wanna see a birdie!" the little pup exclaimed. I shrugged, looking at Tea as if to say, what can you do? He sighed and then nodded. "All right, all right. But I want to go to the bakery RIGHT afterwards, okay?" Jay and I agreed to his terms, although I knew we'd still have checked the bird feeder even if we hadn't agreed; Tea couldn't resist the little blue puppy anymore than I could.
We continued walking through the park, frequently having to keep Jay from wandering off, chasing leaves. Finally, we reached the little bird feeder she had crafted. It was nothing too complicated, just a piece of bread, some peanut butter, and bird seed, but the little pup was very proud of it and hoped dearly that we would find some birds eating off it. She had attached it to a tree branch with a bright piece of red yarn, and it was all we could do to convince her to come back later, instead of waiting their the whole time for her 'birdies' to come.
At last, we reached the gray-black tree. The piece of string hung alone, a dazzling red, but there was no clue as to where the bread snack had gone. Much to Jay's dismay, there were no birds to be seen. "B-b-but..." her lower lip trembled. "Where are the birdies?" She looked near tears. Tea and I glanced at each other. The last thing we needed was the little girl throwing a temper tantrum out here. "How 'bout we look for clues, Jay?" Tea asked, smiling. "C'mon, it'll be fun! We can be detectives!"
Jay's frown turned into a dazzling grin. "Yeah! Yeah! I wanna be the detective, Tea! You can be my helper!" She rushed excitedly around my feet in circles. I looked at Tea gratefully. "You're a life saver, bud."
"Yeah, well, remember that when we get to the coffee shop."
"Don't worry, you can have the best tea there."
Tea jumped off my shoulder and followed Jay as she happily discovered a trail of bread crumbs leading away from the tree. Mildly curious, but really more concerned about the two of them catching a cold, I followed behind. Jay rushed ahead and soon I heard her squeak, a surprised, worried sound. I sprinted towards the noise, worried that she was in trouble. Tea and I burst into a clearing and spotted Jay immediately. She was curled up next to an adorable little bergamot pup, his coat brown with black spots, wearing a little bandanna.
"Who's this?" I asked softly. The little pup approached my cautiously, his golden mane quivering. "I won't hurt you," I murmured, crouching down so I was closer to his height. He sniffed my hand, and then, without warning, jumped into my lap. "Wiesel," he said quietly, drawing out the word so it sounded almost musical. "Wiesel?" I asked. He nodded, a slow grin appearing on his face.
Just then, Jay ran up to me, her eyes shining. "Can he come home with us, Char? Or at least to the coffee shop?"
I laughed. "That's up to him, you silly!"
Jay turned to him. He seemed to think for a second, then smiled again. "Yes?" He said, questioningly, as if trying out the word.
"You wanna come live with Char?" Jay asked, her mind rushing ahead. "You can sleep in Tea's room! He'll share! He's even got a bunk bed!" Tea seemed about to protest at the idea of sharing, but then shrugged and nodded, smiling shyly. He was never the most social one; perhaps this would help him make friends.
"Yes please!" Wiesel cried, surprising us with his outburst. I smiled. "I guess it's decided then. Come on, let's race to the coffee shop; I think Tea wants some tea!"
The three puppies and I ran through the park, our breath coming out in little puffs. Jay grinned up at me.
"Wiesel's even better than a million birds!"
