Erin glanced up as the hiss of the train interrupted her thoughts. It was one of the older trains, its surface a polished black and had too many pistons and gears to seem real. Out came the conductor, like all the childhood stories, and he called the classic "all aboard". Erin rose from the bench seat and shivered a little in the cold, her breath fogging as she breathed into her hands to try and warm them up. She knew she should've dressed warmer that morning, but of course she was too proud to admit to anyone--including herself--that she was vaguely wrong about something.

She stepped inside the train, the compartments organized and well lit from soft lights in the ceiling and the white light from the outside. Erin chose a completely vacant one, uncomfortable with the thought of being in an enclosed space with a complete stranger, and sat herself down, the train rumbling a little beneath her. Strangely, she preferred this clunkier train rather than the more "efficient" ones of the day. It was probably because it seemed much more authentic to her, sitting in something that allowed her to really feel when it was leaving and when it was stalling. It allowed her to know for certain that she was on a "train" and what a "train" was really meant to be. It was a hard feeling to describe, and Erin was pretty sure she sounded crazy.

The train didn't take long to pull off, the whistle tooting to announce it. Erin felt like a child again. She smiled a little as she watched the station pull away from her window until it was out of sight and the engine was rumbling as they picked up speed. Hopefully she'd get to her destination soon.

"Excuse me?" someone asked from the door of the compartment. Erin jumped a little, caught of guard, and thought No, you may not sit here and turned around.

The person in the door was a tall, classic Disney princess woman, which meant Erin automatically hated her. The woman's blonde hair was smooth and thick, tumbling gracefully around her shoulders and framing her face. Her eyes were impossibly blue and her skin was too pale. Erin doubted it would convince anyone that this woman wasn't a vampire. She was thin, her nose was straight and sure, and her lips were pink and full. Erin wondered how such creatures actually existed in this world.

"Is this seat taken?" Her voice was high and controlled and confident. More reasons to hate her.

"No," Erin replied curtly, turning back to the window.

      "May I join you?"

No. "If it pleases you," Erin said, dangerously brushing against full out condescension. However, either the woman didn't notice it or didn't bother to address it as she sat in the seat opposite of Erin.

"I'm Alice," she introduced herself, holding out a hand. Erin glanced at the thin fingers before taking them and shaking once. "Erin."

"It's nice to finally meet you, Erin," Alice said coolly, dropping her hand and considering Erin with a critical eye. Erin felt like she was under an X-ray machine.

"'Finally'?" Erin repeated with a creeping panic. "What do you mean by 'finally'?"

"Tell me, Erin, do you believe in magic?" was Alice's answer.

"Are you--no, I don't," Erin frowned. "What kind of response is that? Who are you?"

"Man of Science," Alice muttered to herself before seizing Erin's wrist.

"What the--?" Erin exclaimed, attempting to pull herself free. Alice, however, was impeccably strong--too strong, Erin knew, for her slight frame. It was physically impossible. Erin thought her wrist might break.

"I have her, Dean," Alice said to the air. Erin thought this girl was probably insane when a man burst out of thin air, the compartment filling with the smell of sulfur and a flash of an intricate looking circle blinking in green light before vanishing into the floor. This man was dark haired, cut short and close to his head and thin, delicate glasses perched precariously on the tip of his nose.

"You might want to hold on tight," he recommended, his voice strung with an accent Erin could not quite place. He wrapped an arm around Erin's shoulder while Alice released her wrist.

      "There's a fairy coming," this-man-apparently-named-Dean told Alice.

"Fantastic," Alice sighed, reaching out the same arm she grabbed Erin with and testing out her motor skills.

      "Wait," Erin began, "what's--"

Too late. Erin felt a swooping sensation within her stomach, as if she was on one of those rides in an amusement park and she was dropped thirty feet, and her legs suddenly felt like they were floating in the air. She involuntarily screamed as she looked down, watching her legs stretch and compress as if bending in space as they were sucked into the flashing circle of light. Then she felt like she was suffocating, her throat closing in on itself and the oxygen disappearing. Erin looked up to see if there was any way she could escape, but the only thing she saw before the darkness closed in around her vision was the door of the compartment rippling as something stepped through and Alice's arm seemingly deconstructing itself.

But before she could get a good look, Erin was gone.

( That's awesome actually because I was kinda hoping to be the man of faith. )

Boone had seen a lot in his life, a lot of strange things, why wouldn't he? The Dominican of Adaer was a strange place, well only for those who hadn't grown up in this world, for those who lived within it was as simple and natural as could get. Powers and mutants were common here, not everyone poccessed the power of being able to have magic, but most did. Adaer was a large colony containing the Western World Provinces. Most of the country was woodland and forest, for those who wished to learn about their magic in secretly and peacefulness. However Adaer had a few massive cities as well, tall skycrapers and buildings that seemed like they were about to touch the sky. Cars were only common for the wealthy to have, everyone else had to walk by foot to get where they were needed. But than again a car cost nearly forty gold. More than some would make in a lifetime. A major city in the world, and capital of Adar was Blotiney, containing over six million people it was full of chance, as well as fail. Boone knew that well enough as well.

The taller man was walking down the sidewalk in North Blotiney, one of the busiest places within the city. Hundreds of people walked down the road ignoring each other as was what they were used to doing. Boone however took note of everyone he saw, because he needed to find one person in particular.

"Butch, you there?" His left hand reaching for his ear he held the 'on' button for his blue-tooth similar phone. "I can't find him, you sure you've got the cordinates correct?"

It took a second for a voice in reply to him, "yeah I'm sure. We've even had wittnesses say they've seen him around here... But Boone, you sure you're okay with-"

"I'm fine with it." Boone snapped as he frowned, "I'll check back in later." With an irriated sigh to released the button and began to search once again. The person he was looking for was Andre Phoneix an ex-colleage of his when he had been working with the Task Force. The Task Force were the people who put limits on magic and on where magic and techology could mix. He had enjoyed his job since he began it at nineteen but in the previous year he had been excused for his duty on accord of him using illgeal magic. This of course was not true, Andre had in fact been the one who had been using magic abusively against suspects of crime. Though the evidence was not there to back Boone up, and so he lost his job and his future. He wasn't the only one though, many others had been released from the Task Force unwillingly and without cause, all saying for the same reason- the Task Force were using magic illgeally and as soon as they brought it to a superior's attention everything went downhill. Because of this a group of others like he had gathered, they knew what was happening, the Task Force was slowly but surely claiming over Adaer and possibly someday would have the entire world under their dication. So the WFS or the White Fox Society were rebelling against them, secertly of course. When call came that Andre had been expectantly causing trouble once more he took no time in accepting the mission to assassinate him. It was the duty of his work, and plus it would make him feel a hell of a lot better.

A few more minutes past as he continued his search, he had been searching for what three, four hours? He was beginning to get tried and annoyed, if something didn't happen soon...- As if he had jinxed it suddenly his sights were caught on one person, bulky and broad and a deeper tan colored skin, wearing thick black sunglasses and a mafia-looking black and red suit. Andre...

Quickly, and without thinking he darted towards the man, clearly Andre must have noticed because his eyes widdened and he took off running away from Boone's charging figure. Dashing through the crowd and possibily pushing people over neither man cared, they only cared about running. It was about thirty seconds until Andre darted left into an alleyway, Boone on his trail like lightning. But that was when his life was about to take a giant turn.

Suddenly something smacked him roughly on the back of the head, the impact making him trip up in his own feet and fall flat on the ground. With a groan he pushed himself up, dizzy but surely. But it was no matter Andre had already escaped through the next exit and was gone far off.

"Dammit, dammit, dammit!" He cursed bitterly, shoving himself up on his bleeding palms. He turned to see what had hit him, but was surprised with what he saw. A very form looking man, dressed in a wrinkle-free suit, rough black hair that was held back with gel, and a startling scar running down from his left eye to his chin. There was a fair sized rock lying on the ground near to Boone and one like it in the man's hand.

The man took a step forward, making Boone take a step back. "Who the hell are you?" He hissed, "what the hell do you want?!"

"Tut-tut such anger, that man is not worth your time, man of faith." He spoke formally and directly, confusing Boone.

"Who. Are. You." He desperately held back his temper, "what. Do. You. Want."

The man smiled a grin that sent shivers down Boone's spine. "I am Louis, and I'm here to take you with me."

A billion thoughts ran rampant in Boone's mind. "No, go mind your own damn business."

"It wasn't a question." The man said, his voice now slightly more littered in bitter and darkness. Before Boone could react the man reached out to him, and like a flash they both vanished.

Re: 1x1 with an asian to the knee

      >> oh, good. /phew
      >> this'll probably be my last post for a while, because I have an orchestra rehearsal until around 9.30 tonight, which is when I get home.
      >> how many NPCs should we have? adding them all together with the one I have here, we have 4, I do believe.

If you've ever been under water for a very long time and under gallons and gallons of it, then you've probably tried to come up very suddenly. You've felt the sucking weight of the water as it rushed around your shoulders and dragged at your back. You've probably felt like you were suffocating and like your entire body was being compressed. If you've felt this, then you know what Erin felt like as she came up from whatever substance she was in and came up to the surface wheezing and gasping. She collapsed onto the stone floor and heaved, feeling like a fish out of water and wondering if she was about to vomit or not.

"Which one is she?" someone in the background

"Science," Dean's voice rang out clearly in the place they were in. Erin, from her point on the floor, saw metallic pillars and wide windows. Factory? No, too cliche.

      "Alice?"

      "Fairy."

Erin didn't even try to decipher these peoples' curt replies to each other and instead tried to make sense of what had just happened to her. Apparently, she's been taken from one place to another almost instantaneously, but she knew that meant she would've had to have gone faster than the speed of light, which was...well, impossible. And there was that thing that she nearly saw walking through solid matter. That must've been her panic kicking in. There was no way people could go through objects. This wasn't X-Men.

"Is she alright?" the first voice asked, vaguely concerned but sounding more annoyed.

"It's shock," Dean assured the first. "She'll be fine."

On cue, Erin moaned a little, trying to move. She had to get out of here. These people were clearly deranged and they had dragged her to wherever-the-hell-this-was. Her limbs felt heavy, however, as if they were made of lead, and it took her a moment to move even a single finger.

"It's the first time she's experienced magic, clearly," Dean supplied.

Magic, Erin repeated to herself. Obviously crazy they were. Or maybe it was some sort of code. Whatever they were talking about, though, Erin knew that she didn't want any part of it. She tried to drag her limp body over an inch--a centimeter--but it wouldn't obey her movements. She could only lie there and breathe.

Two very impeccably shined shoes strode into Erin's vision before their owners crouched down to look at her. To Erin's surprise, it was a girl that couldn't have been older than sixteen, her fire red hair pulled back into a quick bun near the nape of her neck and her olive eyes wide and piercing. Her face was scattered with freckles, and Erin could see a few more peeking out on her shoulders from under her windbreaker.

"You're Erin Beauvoire?" the girl asked me. I could hardly nod, so I tried to say "yes" instead, but that didn't work either. Still, my silence seemed answer enough for her. She straightened up and said over my flattened body, "How long until it wears off? When Faith gets here we need to get moving."

"It's lasting longer than I thought it would," Dean said dismissively. "Chill, Jo. She'll get over it eventually."

Re: 1x1 with an asian to the knee

( I think the group should have about 10 - 12 members. Not too big, but not too small. We don't need to introduce them all right away anyways. )

Boone had felt transportation magic before, it was a tougher kind of magic to conjuer up, but wasn't a rare sight. Taking abductions through transportation magic was strictly illgeal however and the ex-task forcer in Boone felt like he needed to say something about it. However as he landed roughly on the ground of a very.. strange looking place. Whincing in pain that was bubbling in his chest he coughed bitterly, only increasing the burning agony. He pushed himself up onto his hands, but couldn't bring himself to get to his feet. He wasn't the best person at teleporting.

"I've got faith- clearly." The sound of his abductor- Louis sounded, and soon he managed to see the darkened figure of the scarred man. There were others in the room as well, another man, a woman, a teenage girl, and another woman, lying on the floor almost completely still. She must have been brought here through transportation magic as well, and by the looks of it, it must have been her first time doing so.

"Finally, what the hell took you so long?" The standing woman asked, her voice rubbed in irriation. "I would have thought that you would have been back before us. Considering you didn't have as far to go." What are they talking about? And what are they going to be doing with me? I just need to get up, I need to make myself get up and I'll be able to evaluate this better. There's no chance in me just lying here and expecting this to go even remotely well. With the thoughts in his mind he quite painfully managed to get to his feet. He managed that he probably looked more scruffy looking than he had before, but those thoughts didn't really concern him right now, he was just looking for answers.

"Someone's a tough lad," Louis roughly chuckled. "I didn't th-"

"What the hell is going on?!" Boone interupted him, and though his voice weak it was starting to get a bit stronger with his improving status. "What am I doing here? What do you people want?" The questions stopped there, but he wished that he could continue, since he had enough questions to run a river. But he only needed to know what he was doing here, and if he was going to be safe.

I need to play it cool, if these people really do intend to hurt me than there's no way that fighting them will present me with a better chance of getting away. They seem to be rouges, people that are raised with crazy expectations of magic and the world. If that is the case and they know of my history than there's no point with me when hoping to get out of here. I'll be a goner for sure. His pessimistic thoughts did conclude what was true, rouges rarely got along with the Force, as the Force tried to limit there magic, and try to make them accustomed to regulations. There had once even been a small rebellion, some time before his brief position on the Force. That was why they were called the rouges, because they were considered to be the darker, more dangerous people. Maybe he was jumping to conclusions too quickly, maybe these were only mere kidnappers or slavers. Even being sold would be a better fate than being left to the hands of some rouges.

The other man looked at him, as if he was trying to find the answers to his questions. "Be calm, we're not here to hurt you." Yeah fat chance of that. Isn't that what people say just before they beat you up? Brilliant, just bloody brillant. "We're in assistance of you and this young lady, which will all be explained more in due time. I'm sure that by the time you've let us explain what needs to be said, you'll be eager to help us out." Though his voice was kept causal there was something about the man that kept Boone on edge. As if he was on the verge of going insane, and his sanity relied on Boone and whoever the flattened lady on the floor was. Boone was not the 'helping' sort, in fact he rarely helped anyone besides himself, unless his job or alliance called for it, in which case he would accept but on the grounds that there was something of profit in there for him as well. He had been called a lot of things in his time, and he was used to people hating him, but he didn't care it didn't make him want to hate more. Hell, if anything it made him want to annoy them even farther.

"Dean we have to get moving." The girl with a deep red hair spoke in haste. "We have to get them back to the others quickly." Others? What others? This both confused and frightened Boone, there were more of them? What were they going to do to him. He didn't want to die, he had so much that he wanted to do in his life, it couldn't end now and here. "Do you really want to put the worlds at any more risk?" Worlds? What the devil are they talking about. There's only one world, to think that there is more is silly.. Isn't it? These people must be some sort of cult or something.... Which again, proves to be a bad end for me.

The man - Dean rolled his eyes slightly but then sighed. "Yes I suppose you're right. The others will want to know that we have faith and science. Then we can proceed with the trials and finally get this thing on the road." He looked at me and then at the girl. "Now I'd hate to have to tie you both up, so you'll have to promise me that neither of you are going to try anything while we keep you free." Strangely the man seemed like he really didn't want to hurt either of them. Either that or he was a great actor. Boone didn't like being tied up though, and he knew better than to try and argue about it.

"Fine, but promises are off if any of you try anything." He snarled bitterly. He was not someone's toy.
