Adoption
To adopt a Cretoz, look at the ones which have ‘Adopt Me’ written on them. But be careful – a Cretoz may still have the ‘Adopt Me’ sign on them, but may be closed for forms, or the artist may have not removed the sign yet. Make sure you check the first post as well as the last few posts, to check that it hasn’t been won yet, or isn’t closed for judging.

Please don’t change the form on a Cretoz in any way – this includes ‘prettifying’ forms, and adding extra things to the form. If you do so, your form will be ignored. Correct forms have correct bolding tags, and the answer to the question is on the same line as the subheading. Correct forms are not centered, coloured or use any fancy fonts unless already in the original form.

You must have been registered for at least 5 months have made at least 200 posts to adopt a Cretoz.


Breedings
With breeding, you can breed your own Cretoz together, your Cretoz and someone else's Cretoz, or two of other people's Cretoz. You must get permission if you don't own the Cretoz. Different artists have different rules and payments for breedings, and you must follow them. Usually, the person who pays for the breeding gets the foal, but other arrangements are possible. You can only breed two Cretoz together of different genders, and the gender of the foal is random.

Mares have 2 breeding slots, and stallions have 3. You may not breed your Cretoz more than that amount of times.

-> Don’t copy other people’s entries when entering a contest.
-> Don’t apply for a Cretoz when it is closed for judging or if it has already been adopted.
-> Please, try not spam this thread – this includes posts such as ‘marking’. If you want to mark this thread, press the ‘bookmark’ button. Questions are OK.
-> Do not ask how to adopt, it is clearly stated here.
-> A Cretoz can only mate with another Cretoz.
-> You are not allowed to use your Cretoz in a non-official RP.
-> You can only have a maximum of 5 Cretoz unicorns, unless you have permission to have more.
-> Do NOT beg or ask for a custom! Bribes don’t work, either. It will only get you a warning.
-> Do NOT ask to be an artist, mod or co-owner.
-> Do NOT post for pity, whinge about not getting a Cretoz, or try to guilt-trip Cretoz owners. This will NOT be tolerated on any account, and any problems should be PMed to me.
-> You are not allowed to request certain colourings, and you are not allowed to pressure artists to open breedings or create more Cretoz unicorns.
-> Cretoz unicorns cannot be depicted as Anthros.
-> No making copies or similar species. If you have a species and are worried that it is too similar, please PM me if you want it approved.

Warnings
Warnings will be given out if a person disobeys any rules. Warnings cannot be cleared, and will always stay there, even if you get a ban. They tell us how naughty you’ve been.

Banned
If you get 2 warnings, you will get a 1-week ban. If you get 3 warnings, you will get a 1-month ban. If you get 4 warnings, you will get a permanent ban and all your Cretoz unicorns will be put up for re-adoption. A Ban prevents you from entering in any adoptions or breedings which open during the ban time.

Species Information



The map of is Cré free to be used for public usage, but it isn't to be used for personal uses. Please credit me if you intend on using it. The map is not to be deformed in any way (this includes creating new features and naming mountains/valleys/watercourses) unless you are marking significant places and territories of herds.


Habitat
The Cretoz live on the island of Cré, a remote place with harsh mountains around most of the territory. The island is virtually inaccessible from the outside world, so no human has ever stepped onto the island, leaving it in it's complete natural state. The northern end of the island is the harshest part, with steep mountains and cliffs on Point Gremlin at the north-east side. The Gremlin Falls run down one side of Kawahii peak, and the terrain is frequented by rock slides. Towards the centre of the island, grass plains provide popular territories for herds, and are frequently fought over. Cobbler's Bay, south of the island, provides a sheltered, remote place where smaller groups of Cretoz reside, if they know how to get in there. The most popular breeding grounds are along the the largest river, the Kalahan river, in the center of the island. Lake Valanor is also a safe haven in summer, in the mountains towards the east side of the island, but it is almost impossible to get to and not worth the effort for many. Also, there have been cases where in winter, herds have moved on the grasslands below, and may block off the passageway, leaving any Cretoz at Lake Valanor to choose between fighting the herd below or freezing to death in the cold winter.

The weather of Cré is very dry, and can be as harsh as the landscape - it only snows high up in the mountains, but in winter, temperatures drop to below freezing. In summer, it goes to the other extreme, with +40 degree heat waves at the peak of the season. Due to their tough climate, the unicorns are very hardy creatures, made to survive where others would fail.


Survival Features
The unicorns have many features to help them combat the fierce terrain and weather in Cré. Firsly, they have 3 toes on each hoof, providing even better grip and stability than cloven hooves. Their long manes help channel rain and snow away from their bodies, and they also provide warmth in cold weather. The ears are long and well insulated, but don't improve the hearing of the Cretoz. However, in summer, they help expel heat from the body of the Cretoz. In summer, the coat of a Cretoz will be shiny and fine, and the mane thin, but in winter the coat would become shaggy and the mane thicker. The tail helps provide extra balance for the animal, while passing through narrow passages and ledges. The horns are used to help the unicorn defend itself from predators, as well as protect it's young and for stallions, fight for mares and territory. The spurs that the males have are used for fighting.


Predators
The predators of the unicorns are wildcats which can cope with the harsh landscape. These wildcats are very swift and agile, and can easily bring down a unicorn single-handedly. The wildcats usually aim for weaker and smaller Cretoz.

Behaviour



Communication
To communicate with others, the Cretoz primarily use body language, similar to that of horses. When relaxed and positive, the ears are pricked up and alert, and the body of the Cretoz is relaxed, particularly the tail, which is loose and moves slower. When the Cretoz becomes stressed, worried, nervous or tense, the whole body stiffens, particularly the ears, legs and tail. The ears become highly alert, and flick almost immediately to any noise, and the nose dilates. The eyes also tend to show their whites. When the Cretoz is annoyed or irritated, the nostrils flare and the ears go back, further and further the more agitated the animal is. The tail swishes angrily. When they become more frustrated or angry, they tend to bare their teeth, and they may flick their tail fast like a whip. When flirting or courting, they hold their heads and tails high, nickering to mares or stallions which attract them. To show affection, they often groom eachother.

Cretoz also use vocal communication between themselves. They nicker to their young, and they also nicker to mates and close friends, to show affection. A mare also might nicker to her foal, as a call for it, becoming more high pitched and sharper the more agitated she is. Stallions nicker lowly and softly when they try to woo mares, and they nicker happily and louder when with friends. Neighs tend to be calls, to other Cretoz, and they also can be statements of ownership, between stallions. Whinnies can be cries of desperation, when they become more agitated and are looking for others. Squeals or screams are usually challenges between stallions, or the rare cry of a Cretoz in extreme pain.


Fighting
Stallions fight between themselves for mares and territory. Their primary weapon for fighting is the spurs the males have on their back legs, and the sharp horns on their heads. As a result, they usually either fight with eachother, with their front horns (similar to the way male deer do) or they kick up their back legs, trying to scratch the other with their spurs. Sometimes, in a fight, both stallions will be facing away from eachother, bucking and kicking, trying to hit the other. When fighting, Cretoz become extremely vicious, not stopping until the other is defeated or until they themselves can fight no more. It isn't uncommon for stallions to kill one another in fighting, especially when a younger stallion is fighting an older one for his herd. But although fighting is the primary form of collecting mares, stallions might also steal mares from other herds or collect loners who have no herd. Mares might also fight to protect their offspring, but aren't as dangerous as they have no spurs.


Breeding
The breeding season is from late spring to early summer, shortening or lengthening depending on the weather. Mares tend to be very picky when choosing a mate, and stallions fight to impress them. Mares usually pick the strongest, most capable stallions as they tend to sire the best foals - weak foals don't usually last long in the harsh weather of Cré. The gestation period is about 10 - 11 months, as the foal has to be well-developed to cope with the climate and terrain of the island. Stallions play no part in helping bring up foals, but they help protect the herd members. The foal usually is weaned by about 8 - 9 months, and can be completely independent at the age of 1 year, but foals usually stay around their birth herds until about 1 year and a half to 2 years of age.


Herds
The herd structure of the Cretoz is slightly different to that of horses. Herds are ruled by one lead stallion, the strongest and usually the oldest in the herd, and maybe a lead mare - the mate of the stallion. Usually there is a second-in-command as well, a secondary leader who is also a stallion, who may also have a mate. Within the herd, a majority of members are mares, but a few stallions are allowed if they cause no trouble. If, however, any of the stallions should show the beginnings of even a slight threat to the lead stallion, he will kick them out of the herd. To show his dominance, the lead stallion will often mate with a majority of the mares of the herd, unless they have mates of their own. But if a herd member mates with a rogue or a member from another herd, they will usually be expelled from the herd.

Hello, it's me here, Ralonica, or Ral for short. Here you will find all you need to know about the Cretoz breedings I do, and maybe even a bit about myself as an artist. But just a warning - please, read through all the information and rules - if you don't, I will not be held accountable for any rule breakages. Thank-you.

First things first - who am I? What am I doing here? What about me as an artist? Well, my name is Ralonica, inside CS, and out of CS, my name is... well, that doesn't matter anyway because you won't be calling me by that name. I drew my first digital artwork way back in April 2012, and my first digital art pieces were done with a tablet. Scince then, the tablet I had was brutally taken from me *sniff* and I was forced to use my laptop trackpad and a mouse. Over 6 months on, I'm still using the trackpad - I find mouses fiddly and annoying to handle when drawing. My designs are still improving, though, and I hope that through the Cretoz, I can become much better. Some of my favourite artists, which I aspire to, are MazBourne, horsy1050, Lilian Nightshade, Panacea, Neara and AmigoGirl.

My Breeding Rules

- My breedings are FCFS - I do not reserve slots. The first people (amount depends on slots) to correctly post the completed form on the Official Topic get the breedings.
- I MUST have permission from the owner(s) if you don't own one or both of the Cretoz.
- The permission must be a PM from the owner(s) and the breeding will only be started once I have the permission.
- I will only start a breeding once I recieve a payment trade, and will only accept the trade once the breeding is finished.
- The person who pays usually gets the foal, but you can organise it if you want to give a bred foal as a gift to someone else and want to pay yourself.
- You cannot ask for a certain colour, gender or height.
- When putting links in your form, the links must be to the adoption page of the Cretoz, and not the picture, or your breeding won't be accepted.
- If you want a foal bred to be put up for adoption, please state it in the form. I will NOT put foals up for re-adoption if you reject it because you don't like the looks or gender. If you want a breeding, you will have thought it through first to make sure you really do want the foal.
