Background: Ahh, the day I got adopted. I remember it so well...
The lights turned on in the white room. "Wake up guys," the Smili Handler said. He walked in with food bowls, water bowls, and some treats. He placed two fresh bowls in each of our cages. I ate my breakfast like any normal day. Pretty much just our basic diet of meat and supplements due to our variety of specific sub-species. We all ate it quickly because we wouldn't get another meal until the end of the day. After we ate, our handlers took us out one by one into our separate pens with different fake habitats also due to our specific sub-species. I knew they were fake because they're vegetation tasted horrible and they're rocks were not solid. But anyway, I hung out my my windows and tried to get some sunlight to warm my fur.
As mid-day came around, visits rolled around. Many people, women and men, who come and look at our varieties and coloration. We rarely get adopted because of our bizarre looks, coloration, and the occasional potential health defects. With that aside, we got the normal amount of people to the visit. But this one girl, I don't know, she just looked as if she was very sweet and not like most of the other breeders and adopters. She had short brown hair and beautiful blue eyes, kind of like mine. She looked at all the Smilis with sweet eyes and a non-threatening attitude. I really seemed to like this girl.
After she looked around at all the Smilis, she began to talk to our handlers. She made them laugh and I later found out her name was Jarloo. Hmm, interesting name for a human, but I respect her interest in exotic names. Ah! I keep getting off track, ok, so back to the story. Jarloo continued to talk to our handlers and them they began to point at us. She came back to most of us and slipped us a slice of meat and watched how we responded. I took the meat happily and ate it slowly, still keeping my eye on her. Jarloo laughed, I guess she thought my reaction was funny. She walked back over to our handler and pointed back at me again. I wonder if she realizes pointing is very rude, even to Smilis.
Our handler walked over to me and open the door I enter through. "War, there's someone here to meet you," Our handler said. I walked over to the door and he slipped a muzzle over my snout, since I was thought to be aggressive at times, and then put a harness over my body and clipped a leash to the harness. He walked me over to Jarloo and she kneeled down and began to stroke me. Her touch was soft and kind and her hands felt warm, unlike those rocks. She slipped another slice of meat through my muzzle and I ate it. Jarloo laughed. I liked her laugh. It made me feel like a comedian, a word I learned from a TV show our handlers watch in our White Room sometimes; it means funny person.
Although I liked being with other Smilis, I wished I could go home with Jarloo. She stood up and I walked over to her and looked up at her with my blue, sad, Smili eyes. She asked the handler something about me and he said he'd have to think about it. It turns out, I really did get adopted by Jarloo. She's a wonderful owner and she takes wonderful care of me. I love her a lot and I'm super glad she decided to come look at our Smili adoption place. I wonder what happened to everyone else. Oh, well here I go again, going off topic. Well thank you for listening to my story and I hope you enjoyed it.
