Species lineart and concept by Carrie911

Welcome to the official post of the Unalunas! <3
-Picture-
The Unaluna are said to be decedents of the unicorns. As the story tells, they are actually unicorns, but their newly changed form; though they can never change back. It is said that this happened during the dark times, when unicorns were hunted down for their horns and magic. They used their amazing powers to cloak themselves in this new forme. But, some have trusted you with their care
Today, these Unaluna's live in peace, or close to it. They keep hidden in their homes, coming out to help with the weather and seasons. They are the reason the for change of color of the leaves in autumn, the snow fall in the winter, the start of the fresh grass and flowers in the springs, and the warm breeze in the summer. For now, their identity is much hidden from the world.
They would like to keep it that way.

Physical Appearance

Diet -
At the beginning, after the Dark Days, the Unalunas were scared and lost. Soon, they began to grow hungry. Even the stupidest among them realised that food was not only necessary, but that it would be hard to find. Their former food source of hay, apples, carrots, shamrock, and often even grass was nowhere to be seen, so they were quickly forced to adapt to their new homes and what it had to offer them, or they would perish.

It has been such a long time since they have been given an abundance of hay like the old times, and now their taste buds have adapted so that grass and hay do not appeal to them anymore. They like to eat food similar to the what the rest of the Unalunas in their herds do, which varies per species and type. Generally though, they eat fruit and berries of sorts.

Each season type loves a special treat once in a while- these are the foods that are late, and so appear for a short time in the wrong season. Sometimes, friends of another season will leave out a small amount for their friends as gifts, but this is rare, because each of the different season types has a different sleep pattern, so they don't have to chance to meet other Unalunas from other seasons. Because of these sleep patterns, it is quite possible that most summer Unalunas have never actually met a winter Unaluna, most spring Unalunas have never met an autumn Unaluna, and vice versa.

Earth Unalunas
Earth Unalunas were left to forage wherever they could, but most found themselves in a woodland environment over time. Because of this, Earth Unalunas have a diet of natural foods found in their season.

Summer Unalunas have a general diet of Penny Buns, a type of mushroom that is ready to be picked in summer. These can also be called Ceps.
    Winter Unalunas

(Falcon) Unalunas

(Fox) Unalunas

Because Winter is traditionally the period that very little grows, and lots of snow and frost and rain batter the land, there is little food for Winter Unalunas, which is why they are so rare.

After their friends and family were thoughtlessly killed, hurt and captured, the Unalunas cannot bring themselves to eat meat anymore; it brings back way too many memories for them, and they are very close to animals, so eating dead ones goes against how they are raised to act. It is considered socially unacceptable for a Unaluna to try it. Any Unaluna caught eating any type of meat will be shunned, made an outcast, and will be labelled as a supporter of the Dark Days - in any case, Unalunas do not have the right enzymes in their stomachs to process meat; even a small amount could make them seriously ill.

Housing -
Unaluna's live in tunnels underground, hollows in trees, abandoned sheds, and things like that. They try to live not close to humans.Their homes though are richly decorated and beautiful, they spend a lot of time making their 'herds' home beautiful. Since these creatures do not migrate much anymore, they live in either on or two spots, depending on which season takes place. They decorate their homes with things they find, either from humans, or out around the forest and fields. Imagine it as a little rustic city home, a network of tunnels that leads to little homes. In each network of homes, there is either one or two 'central' locations where they all will meet up for any news and such.

Personality -
Very compassionate, kind, and attentive.
Though, they have hardened over the years of suffering and hard times, so they can be standoffish to new comers. One they warm up to you, they are completely fine.
Also take note; these creatures are highly intelligent. Their system, networks, and how they live ranks very high with us. They are not as smart as humans so to say, but they arn't too far from it.

Types of Unaluna
There are four types of Unalunas - Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn.

Orbs
You are able to tell which Unaluna belongs to which Season by the colours of both their Orbs on their stomach, and their coats. Each different season has a different colour orb-
• If the Unaluna is a Winter Unaluna, then their orbs are white.
• If it is a Summer Unaluna, then it's orb would be green.
• Spring Unalunas have Blue orbs.
• An Autumn Unaluna's orb would be red.
Unalunas will hibernate for three quarters of the year, waking only at the beginning of their season, and sleeping only at the end. Because of this, Unalunas do not sleep at night time; instead, they have often used the night time and its concealment to benefit themselves and further their herds' progress.

Coat colours
Their coat patterns are somewhat similar to their groups colors-

    • Winter Unalunas tend to be more white and simple (These are rare)
    • Summer Unalunas are normally shades of browns, greens, and pinks.
    • Spring Unalunas are more greens, yellows, and light blues.
    • Autumn Unalunas are usually dark browns, reds, and oranges.

Their coat colors tend to stay similar to these colors, besides for occasional colored markings they might have. Their manes though don't need to stay like these.

Variations
Within the four main types, there are three variations of Unalunas.

After the dark times, during the first few days of the unicorns' new Unaluna life, they were forced to run and live with only a few others, to avoid human detection. The unalunas remained in these smaller herds for a long time, without any contact with the others of their kind, some of them not even aware that other herds existed. Unfortunately, quite a few of them chose their friends and loved ones to run and live with and (possibly due to their lower intelligence) many forgot about staying with unalunas that weren't of their own gender or directly related to them. This meant that their new herds consisted of mainly one gender, which created massive breeding problems for them, and some of their herds died out as a result. After a while, they began to get more curious and so many went to explore and find others. This was brilliant for them, and so they all joined together into one big herd, and lived far away from human civilisation. These unalunas thrived, and now they make up most of the unaluna popution. However, not all Unalunas developed this sense of curiosity...

Earth Unaluna
- picture here-
This is an example of one of the Unalunas living in the -name- herd, the biggest and most common of them all.

There were still a couple of herds left, who lived too close to humans, or were still too scared to leave their homes. These were the ones who had seen what humans did to them in the dark times, and these were the ones who had lost a sibling, or a parent to the humans' greed. Many of them had watched their family being slaughtered, helplessly. These herds were the ones suffering most from their poor choice of running with their same-gender friends. Thousands of them died out over the next hundred years, until very few were left. In each of these herds, they were left with an average of three Unalunas, and figures show that there were just 11 herds left. Their elders decided that something must be done to combat their desperately low populations.

So, they came up with the idea of breeding with other wild animals to stabilise their own populations. Each herd picked a different animal to breed with, unaware that the others of their kind were doing the same. By doing this, the Unalunas have been also fortunate enough to inherit some of their mates' natural qualities. So far, nine of these herds are yet to want to be adopted, and are still hiding somewhere in the wilderness, with their emotional scars still prominent in their everyday lives, but two small herds have decided to give us another chance.

One of these herds, the -name- herd, decided to somehow mate with Peregrine Falcons, the fastest bird known to humans. By mating with this animal, this has provided their herd with immense speed. The -name- herd has also been provided with big, feathered falcon wings, which are able to let them fly, and a common marking - a stripy chest. Very, very rarely, they also inherit some feathers somewhere on their body. However, a common fashion accessory that they love to wear is a necklace of feathers from their mate. This isn't rare in the slightest.

(Falcon) Unaluna
-picture here-
This is an example of a -name- Unaluna, who has a peregrine falcon mate and parent and lives in the mountains. These unalunas are rarer.

The other herd, the -name- herd, decided to (more conventionally) mate with red foxes, an animal often depicted in human stories as the clever, cunning, sly animals. When the Unalunas mated with these foxes, they gained intelligence, so much so that they seem to have an IQ of that of the average human adult. They have also inherited a fox's brush tail instead of their natural equine ones, and they too have gained a common marking- a fox's bib down their chest. Although it must be plain, unlike an actual fox's bib, this can be any solid pastel colour, not just white. However, because of their heightened intelligence above the other Unalunas, they aren't always the most pleasant Unalunas to be around- they can be very back-stabbing and cruel, unless you get to know them very well. Even then, it they will rarely give unless they receive. They can be arrogant towards other Unalunas too.

(Fox) Unaluna

This is an example of a -name- Unaluna, who has a Red fox mate and parent and lives in woodland areas, far away from human civilisation. These Unalunas are rarer.

Buying Characters

Postby TwilightStallion » Sat Oct 27, 2012 8:12 pm

This is where I am looking for more characters, to expand my own collection. :D

Right now, I am especially looking for pegasus, horse, MLP, unicorn, alicorn and wolf charries, but I am open to anything, really.

I am especially looking for a Springbok charrie, a bird/wolf hybrid, a sleipnir mlp, a carousel horse, an antlered pony or something really intricate with lots of beads! <3

But I am open to pretty much anything. :3

I don't have too much to give you in terms of rareslist pets, nor dA points, but I can give all manner of rares/very rares/uncommons/wishlist pets. I also enjoy going out to collect pets in bulk, for quantity auctions/hoards.

If you ask for offers, please give me a guideline amount you would like.

I currently have tokens!

Please try to link to characters that are for sale individually. c:

I think that is reasonable, sure. c:

Please send the points to AntelopeShortbread on DA, but tell her that they are from me. I don't have an account there.

I will delete them off my website as soon as the laptop is fixed. I don't know when that will be though, it may be a while.
