I really think its unfair that artists chose which customs they do, surely it should be first come first serve??? Otherwise people will always miss out because the design precious to them is always being ignored.

I think it is 100% fair. Some artists can't do exactly what people want, therefore they get to choose what ones they do. And actually, they don't really choose. The wanter specifies an artist, and that artist has the right to deny or accept it.
