Soon you will enter the world of Ilunia, where dreams come true and somni roam! There are many ways to receive a lovely somnus. Because this board is not for the trading of CS pets for adoptables, please make your trades with Eveott here. But that's only one way to get the somnus of your dreams! Writing stories, winning contests of various kinds, breeding, hunting wild somni and adopting abandoned eggs are all ways to acquire one! Remember forum rules abide even in this fantasy world, so keep your language kind and clean, don't harass other users or steal art, and have lots of fun! Constructive suggestions for improving the agency are welcome, since this is my first! We're also seeking artists, currently this is a solo operation. Currently, three breeds of somnus are known to the Ilunian rangers, but more are being discovered every month!
> Meridian
These streamlined, aquatic creatures are highly social. They travel in large herds and communicate with warbling sounds. The Meridian's horn is used primarily to detect pressure and temperature changes underwater; however, occasionally fights between two individuals will break out and the horn is also used aggressively, though this is extremely rare. Like dolphins, Meridians hunt using sonar.
Habitat: southern ocean
Diet: carnivorous
Charm: Meridians can be enticed with a Fin Charm.
Ratio: Rangers estimate that 40% of wild Meridians are male, and 60% female.
> Yagural
These stealthy feline predators stalk the jungle at night. Yagurai are nocturnal and keep strict territory boundaries, but when it comes to mating they can be very loyal and affectionate. While some Yagurai mate with several strangers throughout the year and part at once after, never to see another again, others have been observed to start families and stay together for life, controlling their territory together. The Yagural is one of the most intelligent Ilunian species, and those that have become the companions of humans traveling through Ilunia can often be trained to obey complex commands.
Habitat: eastern jungle
Diet: carnivorous
Charm: Yagurai can be enticed with a Claw Charm.
Ratio: Rangers estimate that 50% of wild Yagurai are female, and 50% male.
> Drakvar
These magnificent winged beasts are covered in a thick hide of shimmering scales. Fiercely independent, they rarely interact, and infrequent mating has made them a rare species to find.
Habitat: northern mountains
Diet: carnivorous
Charm: Drakvars can be enticed with a Scale Charm.
Ratio: Rangers estimate that 25% of wild Drakvars are female, and 75% male.

Rangers are found throughout Ilunia. Part of the dreamworld, they are rangers who take care of the somni, and these are the two most knowledgeable: Aelyrra and Eveott. While their opinions often differ greatly, and they will each be more knowledgeable about certain species and a lot less learned about others, their advice is always wise to hearken to. (Also there is Crazy Kib. No one listens to that loony, though.) Rangers are the travelers who collect abandoned eggs to bring to the Lair, and it's them you have to appeal to if you want one. They are very protective of the eggs and will only give them to the very best of caretakers.

Aelyrra is a tall, willowy woman in simple deerskin hunting clothes. Her skin is dark copper and her wavy, waist-long hair a myriad shades of blue. She smiles patiently in response to your greeting.

Greetings, traveler! I see that you are new to Ilunia. While a whole new world can be confusing at first, the bigger we are the more we have to offer you. If you're ever confused I recommend visiting the Hall of Records. There, you can find your personal possessions in a conveniently updated list and any forms you need to create, adopt and capture somni. If you want to buy something, us rangers always have something for sale! For adoption, you've come to the right place! I'm the ranger in charge of the Lair, and occasionally I'll sell some of the magical eggs there. If you want to create your very own custom somnus, you'll have to talk to Crazy Kib. That's the ranger who sells the Trance Elixir you'll need to make a custom. But be cautious, and try not to listen too much to what Kib's saying when you're around that loony! There's a reason we call him – or her, no one's quite sure – Crazy Kib!
"Tell me about the somni."
Hello, love! You might be wondering what separates a Lair egg from a wild-caught somnus. Well, physically, wild somni tend to have natural colors – such as shades of dusty brown, olive green, and deep blue – while Lair eggs, because of the magic rangers use to incubate them, can be found in every color of the rainbow, from bright pink to neon yellow. For the same reason, some Lair hatchlings even have special powers! Also, wild somnus eggs are always incubated at neutral temperature, causing the offspring to conform to certain gender ratios appearing naturally in the species. Incubated eggs, on the other hand, have their temperature controlled by the rangers, so that you can choose their gender when you purchase a Lair egg!

The Sculpted Desert egg -- The patterns on this egg are very interesting. They could represent the paths and cycle of time. It almost looks like it’s been sculpted out of some malleable reddish-brown substance … maybe clay? I’m guessing this somnus will be terrestrial.
The Flecked Stony Gray egg -- This reminds me of rain falling on the surface of a lake. There is a calm and gentleness emanating from this egg … as if it could stay frozen forever.
The Murky Olive Spotted egg -- Oh my! Feel the spongy surface! It almost slipped out of my hands. This is very interesting! I think these are fungal growths covering the egg. I hope the somnus inside is all right.

Eveott is a short, swarthy man, athletic and somewhat brusque, with a rather rugged handsomeness. His beard seems to have never seen a comb and his nose is crooked, but there is a gentleness to his eyes.

There's always somethin' happenin' here! Us rangers discover new species every month, new Lair eggs are made available for adoption every 10 days, and wild somni venture into hunting areas every 15 days. I myself am workin' on a huge project! Maybe you could help me a bit by givin' me some CS pets to study? I promise I'll pay you back!
"Tell me about the somni."
Well, son, us rangers have just begun learnin' about and studyin' the somni, so actually, we don't know that much about them. But I love experiments and I've been workin' on all kinds of projects to discover new things that somni can do. I focus on wild or charmed somni, it's Ranger Aelyrra who does the Lair stuff. So if you want to adopt an egg you'll have to talk to her. Right now we know of three breeds – the Drakvar, the Yagural, and the Meridian, but so far we've only explored three of the four Ilunian territories: the southern sea, the northern mountains and the eastern jungle forest. To the west there's an enormous grassland, and there have been reports of sightin's of a fox-like animal with very large ears. I'll be explorin' there throughout the month and hopefully in a week or so I'll be able to confirm if there's a new species on the horizon of discovery!

The Murky Olive Spotted egg -- Ugh, get this thing away from me! I hate slimy things! I think it’s growling at me, too! …That's better. Well, I can't tell ye much lookin' at it from afar, but it looks like the moon … 'cept … green. And drippin' mud all over my fine pelts!

This most peculiar person is dressed in a thick black cloak, and their face is obscured by a cowl, so that you can't be sure whether it's a man or a woman standing across from you. Cackling, spitting and never standing steady, it quickly becomes clear why he, or she, is known to the other rangers as Crazy Kib, the alchemist gone mad.

Har-har-har! Well I'm glad ye asked! Ye see, it's the most valuable thing ye can have in Ilunia… here's a scroll explainin' all the currencies in case ye've gotten confused!
[ Coppers ] - Eveott trades coppers for CS pets based on rarity.
[ Silver Leaves ] - Aelyrra will give you a silver leaf for telling her a story. Usually this is done to compete for a Lair egg, but you can do it anytime you like! Sometimes she holds story contests with big silver leaf prizes!
[ Somni ] - A somnus can be enticed with a charm (sold by Aelyrra), hatched from a Lair egg (sold by Aelyrra), or custom-made using a Trance Elixir (sold by Crazy Kib).
[ CS Pets ] - Eveott will give you coppers in return for these pets. How much depends on the pet's rarity. Eveott prefers rare pets, and he's collecting a whole bunch of them in preparation for a big project. I wonder what he's planning?
[ Charm ] - Charms are generally sold by Aelyrra, but sometimes special somni will temporarily appear in Ilunia which require special alchemic charms that you'll have to buy from Crazy Kib. While exploring with a charm, wild somni looking for a home will be drawn to you! You can only capture one somnus per charm, and each charm will only entice a specific species of somnus.
[ Potion ] - Potions are only sold by Aelyrra. They're magic draughts brewed by rangers that can alter your somnus emotionally or physically in powerful ways. But beware the overuse of some potions, they may cause an adverse effect when used too often!
[ Elixir ] - Elixirs are only sold by Crazy Kib – none of the other rangers know how to make one. The recipe requires extensive knowledge of alchemy and is very complex. They're very expensive and serve a variety of exclusive purposes, such as creating custom somni!
[ Lair Eggs ] - Lair Eggs will hatch into somni! Rangers collect abandoned eggs and bring them to the Lair, so there are hundreds of Lair Eggs in existence, but only the fewest are made available for adoption: only 3 every 10 days. The hatchling's gender depends on the temperature the egg was incubated at: cool temperature makes a male, medium temperature could make either, and warm temperature makes a female. Occasionally Lair Eggs will have special powers! (Typically, 1 in 5 do.) But only Rangers can offer their opinion on which egg will have a special power, and sometimes they're wrong.
[ Gold Nuggets ] - Gold nuggets can be bought only from Crazy Kib. A maximum of 10 gold nuggets can be bought by a user with coppers and silver leaves; after that, Crazy Kib will only accept C$.
[ Gold Bars ] - Gold bars are a cluster of 11 gold nuggets. They can only be bought with C$ and are sold exclusively by Crazy Kib.
[ C$ ] - Chicken dollars will buy you gold from Crazy Kib, which can be traded for highly exclusive wares.

Great! Before you begin exploring, you will need a charm to entice a wild somnus to you! Otherwise they are impossible to tame. Aelyrra sells those – be sure to get the right one for the species you want to catch! However, before you can start hunting, you'll need a license from the rangers, which you can receive at the Hall of Records by filling out this form.

Awesome! To make your very own custom somnus, visit Kibbeth and purchase a Trance Elixir. Drink it all before you sleep and keep the empty bottle under your pillow: when you wake up in the morning, the dreams of your perfect somnus will fill the bottle! –At least, according to Kibbeth. Bring the bottle back to the alchemist gone mad and Kibbeth will alchemically concoct a very special somnus out of the dream essence in the bottle! You'll find the perfect sleeping area in the Dreaming Center of the Hall of Records.
