Parduseros & Draciverde

Panthera Canadensis
Parduseros

(The word parduseros is like moose...it's both singular, and plural. ;) There are no pardusero running around here.)

Physical Characteristics: The Parduseros are a lean big cat with a mane that starts at the top of the neck and increases in thickness all the way down to the shoulders of the animal, where it ends. They have a long tail, even in diameter about the length of the animal's body. There is a patch of thick fur starting from the rump that extends down the tail. How far down it goes varies from animal to animal. The males have large, curled horns, while the females have smaller, lightly curved horns.
Mutations are not common in the species, but some of the known ones are: Bobtailed parduseros, (more to be discovered). They can only pass down if a special breeding item is used.
The coat colors vary depending on the habitat of the animal. Note that these are not the ONLY colors they can be, this is just a rough guideline. Most wild carnivores are varying shades of brown. ^^;

Habitat: The parduseros will live almost anywhere, as they are very adaptable. They always live near water of some sort. The only exception is the desert pardus. There are no humans on their planet, and the animals there are slightly...different from the ones here on earth. New species may be introduced later on. :) It's fine if you want to use earth animals in your stories, since I haven't introduced anything else.

Diet: Parduseros are carnivores and will eat any prey-like animal that lives within their habitat.

Behavior:
Reproduction and Life Cycle: During the fall, parduseros will begin searching for a mate. The males attempt to catch pretty things in the thick fur of their manes, such as brightly colored leaves and feathers to attract females. If they live near caves that have gems or precious metals, they will sometimes crash into the walls to catch shiny stones in the crevices of their horns.
Once a male has decided on a female, the female will either accept his affections, or wait until another more suited to her tastes comes along. If the male doesn’t have another female to go after, he’ll wait around and the two (or more) males will have to fight for the female. These battles can be extremely dangerous. If the they manage to lock horns, they often end up rolling on the ground, using only their claws to dig at each others’ prone stomachs. When one of them has won the fight, the female generally accepts him as a fit mate and allows him to copulate with her.
The female parduseros has a 22 week gestation period before her young are born. During this time, they find a cave far from the territories of any other parduseros and settle in for the winter. The male is the hunter during this time for both himself and the female. When the time of birth is nearing, the female claws at her mane for days until a large enough pile of fur is in the cave for a litter of cubs to rest in.
Generally a litter of three to eight cubs is born at a time.

Image

Social Activity: Parduseros are solitary animals. Sometimes a group of two to three female littermates will hunt and rest together for an extended period of time, but males are always alone and unrelated parduseros of either gender are very territorial. In other words, there are no social structures, packs, or anything of the like in their 'society'.

Hunting: Because male parduseros have large, heavy horns, and are thus not extremely fast, they generally hunt at night when their prey is asleep. They have an extremely good sense of smell. Females will hunt during any time of the day.

Other Species

Viverridae Draconis
Draciverde

Image

Physical Characteristics: The Draciverde are small feliforms reaching about one and a half to two feet in height, and four feet in length including their tail. A row of horns grows from their forehead to their shoulder blades. They have no molars or incisors, instead they have a row of sharp tiny teeth on both the top and bottom of their mouth. Their tongues are rather long and tend to be quite brightly colored, generally the same color as their brighter markings. Their bite is highly poisonous, and the barb on the end of their tail has a toxin strong enough to kill a large mammal. Underneath the skin on the side of their neck they have a small set of gills, which can allow them to remain underwater for several hours at a time. They are excellent swimmers, and flow through the water much like an otter. The males have extremely dark coats, while the females have a more muted brown or cream tones. Both genders have strikingly bright markings.

Habitat: Draciverdi live in mediterranean areas near bodies of saltwater. Think jungles and rainforests, tropical fish, that sort of thing.

Behavior:
Social Activity:
Generally the Draciverde run in small packs from three to eight including both genders. They are not territorial and when a rogue comes across a group, they usually welcome it in.
Defense:
They will almost always run unless cornered, in which case they leap several feet into the air to latch onto their enemy with their sharp teeth, and jab with their tail. They also have large, non-retractable claws on the insides of their hind feet, and sharp retractable claws in each paw. If attacking is not a viable option and they have no escape route, they will curl up into a small ball with their row of horns on the outside, guarding the majority of their neck and soft underbelly from injury.
Diet and Hunting:
Small rodents and fish are the main diet of the Draciverde. When hunting underwater, it is common for them to leave their tongue hanging out as a brightly colored, wormlike lure to draw fish in. They also use their tail as a sort of spear to stab their prey. Since they have no molars, they swallow their food whole much like a snake. They have an incredibly strong digestive system.

RULES
Read these if you read nothing else, or you will not be winning anything.

-You may not color in the lineart, or use any adopted ones in roleplays outside of CS or the Zoo.

-You may not create your own characters of my species. All secondary characters must have limited descriptions, and you cannot get art of them. You may, however, adopt more later to fit into your storyline. :)

-No copying my species and making your own adoption center; I will report you, and you'll be blacklisted on ALL my threads. That includes my art shop.

-All adoptions will be done here on the main thread.

-ABSOLUTELY NO bragging. For example "You should bulk up your forms because mine is awesome, or you'll never win."

-ABSOLUTELY NO pity parties. For example "OMG why are you yelling at me, everyone always yells at me.", or "I'm going to kill myself if I don't win this one!!!"
Pity partying also includes "Oh no, my form isn't good enough to win against all of you!" and "Aww, my form sucks." and the like. DON'T DO IT.

BREAKING THE TWO ABOVE RULES TWICE WILL GET YOU BANNED FROM MY THREAD. That means, if I tell you to stop once, then stop. I don't want to hear "OMG I said I was sorry quit yelling at me!". Ever. That is pity partying, and will get you banned.

-The story/drawing section of the form is there for personality-developing purposes. If yours story is generic and depicts everything I've written about the species, but in story form...you're not really going to get anywhere with it.
That being said, stories that don't follow the species description (e.g., anything that involves the parduseros running in packs or tribes...they're solitary!) will hurt you just as much. :|

Currently Available for Adoption
--------------------------------------------
-Parduseros will remain up for adoption for one week. After that time is up, no more forms for them will be accepted and the entries will be judged.
-If no more than two people apply for a particular one, I will leave that one up for another week, or until it gets at least three entries.
-You may apply for more than one, but you can only win one per color coded round.
-If a parduseros stays up from a previous round, and I put more up for adoption, you may win the one from the past set as well as one from the new one, but if you already won one from the previous set, you cannot win the lingering parduseros/draciverde. Different sets will be written in different colors. :)

Even if you don't finish the whole thing, they really help. I usually try to add in a couple random quirks here and there to make them more unique. C: Here's a good link for a character sheet:

Breeding

Postby rainingdarkness » Thu May 06, 2010 11:57 am

Main
Adoptions
Adopted Parduseros
Breeding - You are Here

CLOSED

I don't plan on opening breeding for another few months(to allow for a larger gene pool), but I will be setting it up.
The items won't be free, because I'm already going to be releasing new parduseros, running an art and lineart shop, and doing adoptables for Arcane Pass. ^^; But it won't be expensive, either. I'll probably charge in hoard pets.

Unless you own both parduseros, you will have to get your partner's permission and either screenshot it or have them post here for me to see. Please let me know if you both want a cub. :) If the litter is more than two cubs, the owner of the breeding item will get first pick, the other person second, and the rest will go up for adoption.
A litter will be between one and four cubs. I know it's supposed to be three to eight...but man, haha. That's a lot of drawing. @.@
Natural Mutations-Bobtail.
Unnatural Mutations-Wings.

Regular Breeding Item
Will produce between 1-4 cubs without unnatural mutations.
Image

Unnatural Breeding Item
Will produce between 1-4 cubs with unnatural markings and the potential for unnatural mutations. Can only be used if one of the parents has unnatural markings or unnatural mutations.
