Realm of the Rah'liani [CLOSED] MOVED TO ADOPTABLE OEKAKI

I too would miss the interactiveness of this form of the Rah'liani but if Panda thinks that the other will be easier to handle then that is up to her, It also makes me wonder however where all our current gemstones and all will go to. I have in the past offered many times to do archive and inventory for Panda here at this Rah'liani site as I am familiar with all sorts of code, I am sure there are others willing to pick up slack in other areas. such as the labryinth and all. the only part you would be having to do is the Rah'liani themselves and Survivor could help with that. It sounds as if switching to adoptable would be just as much work if not more work then keeping this thread alive. But you know your fans are behind you, willing to help you in any way we can!

I think one of the biggest things holding me back from staying put is the fact that I can't find guest artists as easy. Not everyone is savvy with or actually owns Photoshop or GIMP. There are plenty of artists looking for guest artist jobs that know how to use the oekaki. At least, that is what I'm counting on.

As for Gemstones, they'd all be switched over to the new place. I'm not going to jip anyone from their hard earned Gemstones! The whole currency system, and everything that costs Gemstones now, would remain intact, of course.

It would be work in the beginning, having to redo all of the lineart edits and switch everything over. But Adoptable Oekaki places tend to do better gathering guest artists than where RotR is at now. That's one of the biggest thing I need - guest artists. If I can get guest artists for specific parts of the shop (like ones who work on singles/litters/exploring) it would allow me to focus on whatever I want or need to focus on.

It was one of the reasons I didnt try out for here as well, because I didnt know how to work the GIMP I have installed. Oekaki on the other hand... ya I think I got it pretty much covered enough to do some designs you would like, lol!

I'll probably do a guest artist competition once everything is set up. It'll be a brutal competition because I'll be very picky, and artists will need to understand my marking and pattern limitations and genetic mumbo jumbo. (The genetic stuff is actually pretty simple once you get the hang of it. xD I've got lists of what is dominant and what isn't and what genetic letters mean what marking/color/etc. And I'm willing to give lectures on how it works, as well.)

Mind you, I still have to find an artist willing to do the basic linearts in the first place. I'd do it myself if I didn't think my work was worthless. P: I can do the edits just fine, but trying to draw the body? Meh...I'd rather find someone better at anatomy than I am.

I don't necessarily like the idea of moving to adoptable oekaki, especially of there are going to be competitions for rah'liani. There are some people that try so hard on their adoption forms for adoption centers and they never get anything. There's just some people who aren't good at those, and others who are good at them always get the pets. I just don't think it's fair. What I think you should do is share the site. Make someone you trust a co-owner. That way, you can keep RotR basically the same but you won't have to bear all that work.... But that's just me. You chose what you think is best, and good luck deciding =)

I feel that's it's a feat idea. Everybody needs a break, why not make it easier on yourself. And as you said their would be more compitition but I think that's the fun part! See who can write the best story or who can post fastest. I really think you should do this.

Thank you again for all of the input, everyone. I hate to disappoint anyone because I value all of you so much, but the vote to move was pretty popular. I knew when I first started thinking about this that not everyone was going to like the idea. But you have to understand, I could only see a few options that would mean less stress on me - shut RotR down completely, get rid of a bunch of stuff (exploring would probably be first to go), or move everything to the oekaki board.

As for those of you who are worried about trying to win competitions, not every Rah'liani in the oekaki will be competition. I will make sure there are first come, first serve Rah'liani. Customs, Breeding, and exploring will all work exactly the same way. And you'll even be allowed to request breedings of adopted Rah'liani from the current lineart.

I know we were a nice, little, tight-knit community here in this thread, and moving will probably change that. Believe me when I say that I'm going to miss the way things have been. I cannot bear to shut down or scrap anything after all of the hard work put into the place. But my mind has been made up because I just found an artist willing to do the linearts for all of the different types of Rah'liani. They've even offered an idea for a new type and wondered if they could be a part of the community by being a guest artist.

I'm sorry if this decision makes any of you leave the Rah'liani community. I'd be very sad to see you go. I want to thank you all for your support in the past, and I hope you can all understand and/or forgive me for doing this. I really wish things could stay exactly the way they are, but it just isn't possible right now.

I hope everyone enjoyed Realm of the Rah'liani here. I know I did. And though not all of you will look forward to the future of this place, I can't help it that I am. So once more, thank you. And I hope to see some, if not all, of you in the new Realm of the Rah'liani! I'll be announcing when the new place is officially open.
