Keep in mind the limits on the level of civilization smilis have though - the Pompeii smilis are very advanced for their species and they're still a very basic society, more like settled hunter-gatherers that are starting to make forays into ideas like government and bartering. Other smili groups would likely be nowhere near that level. ;3
Is there any summary of what is known about the Pompeii smili government so far? For example, do they lay taxes on individual smilis or their goods, do they maintain a census, etc?

Hm, I think I might be posting a sub-species that originated from Tai's story. Although I need Spotty's permission first... xD

I noticed something on the front page and it made me think, since we are on genetics in bio and I love it.
In the litter of Sanjana and Pleek, one cub has a recessive gene for unusual coloration, and the other HAS unusual coloration, meaning that Pleek, if we are going by Mendelian principles, carries a recessive gene for unusual coloration. This completely lies on the fact that unusual coloration is a single allele trait, not a multiple allele or a sex inheritaded allele.
Sorry for my nerdiness there. I just love genetic type stuff, and that just randomly occured to me while I was googly eyeing the cubs. I thought it might want to be noted on Pleeks health risks, or if not, sorry I posted this. No harm meant.
Thanks to fifdom for my Troo fanart.

Actually, I think that smili's coat colours are based on where they were born.
I love genetics too though. ^^

Real genetics are very complicated, and there are many things, for example the colour of ones skin that isn't decided on one gene with two possible alleles alone. Smili colouration is really complex, so for simplicity I just make it up as I go along. Pleek's colouration is fully normal.
So... Let's just say I'm that in charge of smili genetics, it won't strictly follow any natural processes. I just added it to make breedings more interesting, not to actually keep it life-like.
