Her name is Mayan. (May-an) But you can just call her May.

Gender [of pet]:
Once a female, always a female my friend. What really shows you she is female is her eyes. There is just something about then that gives her a feminine look.

Breed/Species [of pet]:
She is a Degasus (A dog crossed with a pegasus). Degasi are rarely seen, and only 2% of the total population are tame enough to interact with humans. Their common traits are round eyes, wings and long tails. Shorts tails are extremely rare in this species, so much so that only four people have seen Degasi with them. Thats not very many. The most common colours are brown, grey and black. White is a rarer fur colour, but can still be seen occasionally.

Personality [of pet]:
There is one way to describe May. That is shy. Even at the best of times her instincts, to duck away, to hide, overtakes her common sense. She likes to stay out of conflict, preferring to leave it to those who know how to deal with it. May hates having to talk to people. Only people she knows are trustworthy enough to get any form of communication out. That's why she is one of the almost tame Degasi. These are quite common around human populated areas, and it is when a Degasus' is tame enough to stroke or speak to, but there is always that risk that they could fly off at any second.
No one quite knows why Mayan is how she is. Maybe it was a family trait, or maybe she picked it up from others from her kind.
The one thing that Mayan completely trusts is reading. Not many of her species are intelligent enough to learn to read, what with wanting to learn to fly and such coming first. Most can't even spell simple words. But with Mayan, she took to reading, and stuck to it. Fiction, Non-fiction, and genre. You will always find her with her nose in a book.
So anyway, with being shy, often comes loneliness. What with not liking to meet new people, it is hard for May to make any friends, meaning she is often alone. It's not nice being all by yourself, when you can see everyone worse around you has someone to laugh with. But May likes independence. She is the mind of girl who can excel alone, and prefers to stay to her own work, rather than thinking about what the other Degasi are doing.
The final way to describe Mayan's personality is hard working. If something isn't done just right, then she will stop and do it again. May strives for perfection every time. However, this can often be translated as arrogance in some Degasi, so she has to be careful how she says things. Mayan is often called a nerd because of how much she likes her school, but where is the shame in liking to excel in life?
