Somnei BondingUsername: Mistah J
Desired Somnei: #8
Somnei name: Tungshao
Reason for wanting one: Well... this is going to sound kind of strange, but I actually wouldn't be surprised if he
does live under my nightlight. I still sleep with a nightlight, so seeing his description kind of touched me. I really love his design as well.
What will it be used for? Well, I absolutely love writing about Starscream, and I find Somnei to be one of the most enjoyable species I have ever written about! Therefor, Tungshao will appear prominently in my stories. Of course, I will also place him in my signature.
Describe your Somnei: Tungshao is very 'motherly' in that he loves caring for children. There is one in particular that he cares for the most for, Carlos. Tungshao loves to keep things bright, and he has a strong affinity for anything warm. He is loves curling up under night lights. Occasionally, if the dreamer dreams in bright colors, he will just sleep under the nightlight and do absolutely nothing. Tungshao also has a habit of randomly touching the dreamer in the dream, somehow. He will manipulate the dream so that he can come into contact with the dreamer.
Write a short story for your Somnei: Tungshao smiled from behind the nightlight. He was curled up on top of the nightlight neck that was connected to the outlet. He loved this little boy! He really did. Tungshao watched as the boy, Carlos, curled into his bed, kissed his father goodnight, and began to count sheep. Tungshao could hear the whispered, "..1.....2......3.....4....5...." and smiled toothily. Carlos was blind, and since learning this, it had become Tungshao's 'duty' to monitor Carlos' dreams and keep them bright and colorful. The boy deserved a good life, and if that meant keeping his dreams bright because that was the only time he could see them, then Tungshao would gladly spend the rest of his life doing just that.
Tungshao's head cocked to the side as he heard Carlos snoring softly. Slowly, the Somnei uncoiled himself and floated down so that he was under the nightlight. He then proceeded to grow himself to the height of a cat and curled up under the nightlight and slipped easily into Carlos' dream. Tungshao frowned once he entered the dream. This dream was.... very dark. Carlos was on a viking ship, and the sky was pouring with rain. Bearing his teeth from where he was poised on the chip's helm, Tungshao began to alter the dream carefully. He watched Carlos eagerly as the boy began to smile. Tungshao pushed the clouds away and sunlight burned through. Carlos laughed brightly before exclaiming to one of the vikings that this 'always happens in dreams like this'. Tungshao knew that Carlos was a lucid dreamer, which was why Tungshao always took care to hide himself carefully from sight. At that moment, Tungshao was acting as the dragon under the bowsprit.
"I knew you would come tonight," Carlos said suddenly, peaking over the boat and stroking Tungshao's neck. Tungshao mentally face palmed. Of
course he would be found out! Carlos was brilliant. Sighing, Tungshao removed himself from the viking ship architecture and floated in front of Carlos. Carlos grinned, "I'm so glad to have finally found you.... will I still remember this tomorrow morning?"
Tungshao looked up, temporarily tearing himself away from the dream to check the time. Technically, it already was morning, but Tungshao didn't need to tell the boy that. Tungshao nodded to Carlos' question before waving.
"Oh... are you leaving?"
Tungshao nodded sadly. He would still appear in Carlos' dreams, but he didn't want to form a personal relationship with the boy. Gently, Tungshao floated towards Carlos and pressed his paws against either shoulder firmly. Carlos smiled.
"I know. Thank you, Tungshao. It's good to know someone is watching over me."
Tungshao smiled wanly before pulling himself from the dream. He could see Carlos' sadness in his eyes, but for now, this was how it would have to be.
he Somnei reminds me of the song "Birdhouse in your soul" by They Might Be Giants. It's a really cute song and it totally reminds me of this Somnei!
