Ahhhh I know I'm really silly trying to pull this off but I'm going to try to have my entry up in the next half hour! c:

No, Canadian children don't ride to school on polar bears (urgh I wish ;_;), and you're not going to see one hanging around in Toronto, but they're still ridiculously symbolic of this country.
I wanted to incorporate maple leaves and red & white without making it seem like a tacky plushie from your local tourist shop, so I used more muted colours and actual maple leaves instead of one dimensional red ones. The maple leaves are sort of tied into the bear's fur with thin leather cords. The northern lights shimmer on its fur is a tribute to the rugged (but gorgeous) northern part of Canada. The birch bark leg bands are a reference to Canadian history and our native american heritage. Birch bark was a material often used for canoes by native americans, and canoeing was an important mode of transport at the time.
Finally, the two feathers featured come from a common loon (which is on the Canadian dollar coin and one of my favourite birds ever c:) and a canada goose.

I wasn't too sure whether I wanted to keep it or not, but seeing as there is interest I'll probably do a character auction in my character shop (wouldn't be restricted to wishlist pets by the way). c: If I do that I'll include the link in the first post.
