^^ i wish my cat acted like that XD all three of mine hate collars, and all of the ones before them did. Orlando just chews them apart, stella made the neighbor's dog bite it off, and hazel left hers on the fence post. Kali buried hers in the letterbox, and sammy slipped them.

Cats are also harder to recognize as breeds in moggies because cats seem to have a 'one size fits all' policy when it comes to breeds. there are no giant cats, there are no midget cats, they all have basically the same skeletal structure. so even if your cat has huge cats in it's background, it's probably normal sized, since it's reverted back to natural form.

Yeah, it makes it hard for me to find the breeds I like in rescue, because every bobtailed cat is a Manx, every van marked cat is a Turkish Van, every pointed cat with a blaze is a Ragdoll... And while I've been out of the cat fancy for a very long time I can still recognize what's NOT one of those breeds and I see a loooooot of them. Oh well, I'll probably just stick to rescuing moggies. Saff is a moggie, and she suits me just fine.

There are cats without wildcat blood that range from 4lbs to 30lbs, but the general "generic cat" size is 10-15lbs (Saff is small for this, she's 8lbs). Usually some form of visual tabby (typically mackerel), and shorthair is dominant to longhair so more of those too. I think that describes most street and barn cats, with the odd solid black or white cats (and some mediumhairs and longhairs) popping up here and there. The longer they've been left to breed on their own, the more they revert back to a specific "type" depending on area. The Asian breeds tend to revert to something slender and leggy (though not like the overdone Oriental Shorthair or modern Siamese, closer to the Japanese Bobtail), the African breeds tend to revert to something that looks a lot like a miniature cheetah, the American and British breeds look similar to tailed bobcats and lynxes at the end of the day, etc. I believe that's mostly from their wild roots with the African/Asian/European Wildcat, which is the "grey wolf" of cats as their closest living relative and likely their near ancestors (though I think some are also from bobcats, lynxes, servals, etc as well). You see it a lot with "natural" or "wild" breeds (Arabian Mau, Norwegian Forest Cat)... they certainly look a lot more like the wild cats even though they're descended from our domestic cats.

I used to own three cats. Two of them had to be put down when they were only 2 years old, and our third cat died less than a year ago. She was almost twenty.

i've never heard of a cat that weighs thirty pounds with no wild blood unless it's overweight, but i guess a male F1 Savannah could achieve that weight.
Yeah, like most of the asian street cats look somewhat alike, and in the cat book poems the khao manee, si-sawat, and all the other cats look relatively the same, and all the british street cats look relatively the same (classic tabby pattern, cobby build) and african cats have the same look and build too. (many of them have pointed bicolor, and a heavyish but lighter than british shorthair build, like a sokoke.)

What's an arabian mau? (cross between Abyssinian and Egyptian mau?)

Some lady walked into my mom's work yesterday and asked her if she wanted a cat. My mother said yes because the kitten was probably going to get put down if she didn't take it. Since we already have four cats, and my dad hates cats, we had to give the cat to my grandmother. The little kitty is so skinny and he's only about six months old. He is so adorable though; a little grey tabby with green eyes and huge ears. His name is Bench and my grandmother looooves him. ;3

That's so cool! I really want a cat, but my mom says that when a pet dies you shouldn't get another one to replace it... I don't want to replace my old cat, I just want a cat in general! Besides, it's been at least five years since my kitten got put down>

i don't think that you shouldn't replace a pet, i just think you should give it some time. i think that five years is good enough time to get a new cat. i know i personally can't live without a cat.

I currently have two outdoor cats, both are kittens. :3 Their names are Rusty and Mimi, Rusty is a rusty-ish color and Mimi is white with black and orange spots. They are the most common, mixed breeds. Originally, there were five, three got adopted and their mother left recently. I don't know if we'll keep the kittens or not!
