Cats are also harder to recognize as breeds in moggies because cats seem to have a 'one size fits all' policy when it comes to breeds. there are no giant cats, there are no midget cats, they all have basically the same skeletal structure. so even if your cat has huge cats in it's background, it's probably normal sized, since it's reverted back to natural form.

Yeah, it makes it hard for me to find the breeds I like in rescue, because every bobtailed cat is a Manx, every van marked cat is a Turkish Van, every pointed cat with a blaze is a Ragdoll... And while I've been out of the cat fancy for a very long time I can still recognize what's NOT one of those breeds and I see a loooooot of them. Oh well, I'll probably just stick to rescuing moggies. Saff is a moggie, and she suits me just fine.
There are cats without wildcat blood that range from 4lbs to 30lbs, but the general "generic cat" size is 10-15lbs (Saff is small for this, she's 8lbs). Usually some form of visual tabby (typically mackerel), and shorthair is dominant to longhair so more of those too. I think that describes most street and barn cats, with the odd solid black or white cats (and some mediumhairs and longhairs) popping up here and there. The longer they've been left to breed on their own, the more they revert back to a specific "type" depending on area. The Asian breeds tend to revert to something slender and leggy (though not like the overdone Oriental Shorthair or modern Siamese, closer to the Japanese Bobtail), the African breeds tend to revert to something that looks a lot like a miniature cheetah, the American and British breeds look similar to tailed bobcats and lynxes at the end of the day, etc. I believe that's mostly from their wild roots with the African/Asian/European Wildcat, which is the "grey wolf" of cats as their closest living relative and likely their near ancestors (though I think some are also from bobcats, lynxes, servals, etc as well). You see it a lot with "natural" or "wild" breeds (Arabian Mau, Norwegian Forest Cat)... they certainly look a lot more like the wild cats even though they're descended from our domestic cats.
