Winter Fluff Dragons (moved, mods please lock)

Welcome to Winter Fluff Dragons, a beautifully adorable species created for me by the wonderful The-Red-Wolfy!

What is a WFD?
A Winter Fluff Dragon, or WFD, is a small breed of arctic dragon. They have extremely thick fur to help them keep warm. They have large claws on their front paws, used for digging through the frozen dirt and ice. They have short legs, keeping them low to the ground, but also making them relatively slow runners. They are carnivorous creatures, often preying on small animals, such as hares and mice, though they do love fish. This is good, as they have webbed paws used for swimming. They are slightly smaller than wolves, a short stub of a tail used for balance, but small to keep blood flow at the core. They breathe through four nostrils, which cool the air as it's leaving, and warms the air as it's entering. They can open and close them, holding their breath in the frigid waters. They also have large ears to hear the high pitched sounds they make to communicate with one another. It's so high that even dogs cannot hear it. While they have other vocals to warn of larger predators, they mainly remain silent. They give live birth to one pup every breeding season.

Rules:
Do not steal the species, or any designs.
Do not use a WFD that is not your own.
Do not swear, be rude, or harass the other members.
Do not spam.

Artist rules:
You are permitted to make 1 WFD for yourself.
These are to be free and to be won fairly.
You may partake in the adoption of other artist made WFDs
If an artist enters the contest, judge fairly. Even myself.
Please keep track of how many dragons there are. We need it kept nice and neat.

Growth and development

Postby LostHope » Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:15 pm

A fluff dragon has three main stages of life. Cub, Juvenile, and Adult. A cub if very vulnerable and much like a wolf pup. It's eyes and ears are sealed shut and it cannot regulate it's own body temperature. Orphans or abandoned cubs will die without human intervention. Within four weeks (days really) the cub has it's eyes and ears open and is capable of warming itself for the most part. It is still vulnerable as it can't hunt for itself yet. By the time they are 6 months (6 days), they Winter fluff Dragon is considered a young adult, and is capable of breeding. This is possible, but not recommended. At 12 months (12 days) it is a full fledged adult and capable of breeding in the upcoming breeding season.

Growth chart:
Baby 3-4 days to grow
Teen 2-4 days to grow
Adult 12 days total to breed

Whenever a WFD is a year old (12 days), they can then find a mate and breed, producing a single cub. On rare occasions, two may be born. Breeding season happens 4 times a year (once per week). Once it is breeding season, please fill out the form below and choose your payment. Cub genders will be randomly chosen. cubs will have a link to their mother and father on their page and you may not inbreed.

Don't own a WFD? Don't have any old enough to breed? My custom, Prince, is up for stud. Find the male and female you wish to breed, and ask the owners. They may allow you to breed them!
