It was a warm summer evening. Crickets serenaded my brothers, sisters, and I as Mama came back from hunting. Almost immediately I was thrown to the side by my siblings as they raced towards Mama, yipping excitedly.
"Whadja bring us, Mama?"
"Is it rabbit? I love rabbit!"
"Didja see that big ol' bear again, Mama? Didja?"
She chuckled and swiped her tongue over my brother Lucifer's head. "Settle down, young ones," she said calmly as she dropped from her maw a big hunk of meat. The scent immediately alerted me of what it was.
Buck.
My mouth watered. I had not had buck in a long time, and I nearly forgot the taste of it. Mama gave her signal--a quick nod of the head--and suddenly, it was a fight for survival. My brothers and sisters shoved me out of the way, but I wouldn't give up so quickly. I pounced, gnawing and growling at the meat. Finally. I had gotten my fill, and waited peacefully for Mama's storytime.

Mama sat beside us and smiled. "This is the story of Noah and the Ark. Once upon a time..."
I listened to her story when I heard my two oldest brothers, Lucifer and Attila whispering to one another. "This is boring," said Attila. "Let's get outta here."
Lucifer nodded in agreement and the two padded towards the brush. I, being a curious little pup, decided to follow.

I had no idea what awaited me.
