The wind swept small waves across the pond, which scattered the moon's yellow reflection.
"It's like another moon in the water," a large, black and white horse though as he gazed at the flickering reflection. The horse had a brilliant marking on his shoulder of a dragon skeleton, which was the marking of the Dragonharl family line. It was sought out for, yet cursed. Every owner of the so called "tattoo", had become immortal in some way or another. Yet the imortality came with a price. The price differed, depending on the owner, but it was generally something that the owner valued and cherised deeply. But this owner, Lord Dragonbane,
despised the immortality, and wished it gone. He had lost many horses and followers as his price, which also scorched his lands and forced him to leave his lands and surviving members to start over. His price was known as the Fire.

History/Background:
Barry started off as a little cub, like all bears do. Unlike most cubs, he was born and raised in a circus, where he quickly learned to juggle and dance and do other acts by watching the performers practice. Sadly, the circus was in debt, and it had to close. The owner's released Barry into a forest with a group of other bears, which gladly took him in. He was always loved there, as he was never truly mean or sad, and he could always put a smile on anyone's face. They gave him toys and balls to play with whenever they could, and he in turn, entertained and watched over the younger cubs, who, like everyone else, loved Barry. All but one cub, that is. Another cub who was the same age as Barry get envious of the attention and love Barry had recieved; for he too had once gotten all the attention in the group. The envious cub, Hallis, vowed that he would take down Barry when they were of fighting age, and he vowed that he would win.
Barry, being the silly boy he is, never really understood the fighting and the snarling that took place amongst the males of his age. He just sat there and watched them, with a ball or some other toy in his paws, and stared as two males roared and jumped at each other with fury, sometimes even making a cut on their opponent. Barry knew those were just play fights, as they were not of age yet to do real fights, but he knew that soon it would be his turn to fight for his rank in the group. But what was the bear, a small bear, who did not want to fight, to do?
As Barry grew older, he made a choice. He would learn to fight, and fight well, but he would only fight when necessary. The month began for the cubs to choose a mentor, any male in the group, and to learn to the best of their ability to fight. At the end of the month, the showdown would begin, and the rankings would be set.
Barry knew already who he wanted as a mentor. A medium sized bear, named Jachiro, was one of the wisest bears in the group. He was not old, but not young either.
Hallis and the rest of his group, chose from the strongest and the most fierce of the mentors, and sneered at Barry for choosing a "wimpy and lame mentor who had no strength." Barry didn't listen, and he just listened carefully to what Jachiro told him, and was the most perfect student he could muster.
Of course, the nights where Barry had to sit and listen were the worst, for he could always find SOMETHING to look at, smack, or play with.
The time grew near as Barry was taught, and finally, the time was here. It was a full moon that night, and the ground was covered in dust, for it had not rained the past few days. There was a few clouds in the sky, casting eerie shadows that danced around the circle that was cleared for the showdown.
The young bears flexed their muscles even more, and glared at their opponents more then ever before, because this year, there was a new position to earn: Future Leader. There was no "friends" on this day, because each bear fought for themself.
Of course, Hallis wanted the Leader's position, and he knew that if he got it, he could banish Barry once and for all.
He would be a tough leader to beat, and he knew that, for his father and the generations before were one of the bravest and most fierce of them all.
The order was set. It would go by the oldest against the second oldest, then the third oldest facing the winner of the two, and so on so forth. Barry, of course, with his birthdate unknown, was set as the last one, and Hallis being the oldest.
Hallis, much to the other cubs' pleasure, defeated every single cub against him, with no more then two or three strikes to the chest. The spectators roared in excitement and also in fear. They envied the strong cub and knew that he would be tough to beat in battle, yet they knew that somehow Barry would come through, with his amazing tactical skills. But it was not certain, for it was brains against brawn, and for bears, the brawn typically won.
It was his turn, as the moon finally was unveiled by the clouds, and it cast a briliant glow to Barry's fur, which made it gleam and sparkle with every move. Hallis made the first move, not wanting to wait for his final enemy to strike, and thrust his massive paw towards Barry's chest, and quickly struck upwards at his jaw, but he missed. Barry saw it coming, for it was the move Hallis always used first in battle, and he slid downwards and rammed his skull into Hallis's stomach, forcing the bigger bear to fall back and roar in agony.
Barry smiled as he recalled his mentor's words, "Any bear's weakness is his belly, for it is soft and open, and it has no claws or skull to protect it."
Barry roared at Hallis, which caused the crowd to roar and holler even louder, for this battle was the one's the bears looked forward to the most.
Hallis roared in response, and lept up, and ran at Barry, teeth bared. Again, Barry knew that move, but he was a fraction too late. Hallis managed to graze Barry's shoulder as Barry lept up and pounced on Hallis, hard.
Not wanting to fight much anymore, Barry decieded to end him, that moment.
No, not in the typical "ending".
More like....
Barry thrust his read end on top of Hallis's face, which was stuffed up against the dirt. Hallis began to cough and sputter, as the small bear contiu\nued to sit upon Hallis. Hallis groaned and gave the signal that he gave up, for he knew that he could have his revenge later. The crowd smiled and knew that Barry, the future leader, would make a great leader, but first....... Barry needed to gain a few inches.
