His Promise wrote:[ x ] One night a man dreamed
He was walking on the beach with the lord,
While scenes from his life flashed across the sky,
He noticed two sets of footprints --
One belonging to him, the other to the Lord.ღ
[ x ] Looking back as the last scene passed him,
He noticed that many times along the path
There was only one set of prints --
Always at his life's lowest, saddest times.ღ
[ x ] Dismayed, he asked, "Why Lord?
You promised that once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
Why, at the most troublesome timed of my life,
Is there only one set of footprints? ღ
[ x ] Why, in the times I needed you most
Would you leave me?"
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you,
During your times of trial and suffering,ღ
[ x ] When you see only one set of footprints --
That was when I carried you."

Name:Gathii (GAH thee ee) - Traveller; wanderer
Gender:Male
Short Shory:He knows the story off by heart, as it had been told many times around the Oasis.
Such a tale was too much a part of him to ever let his attention drift.
"On the stormiest day of the year a mother, baring calf, emerged from the sands. It was the middle of the night. She had obviously been walking for a decent length of time, possibly all day, in that horrible weather. Only a few hours had gone by, and we did all we could. She passed that night, not a sound she made, nor hostile move she took. The spirit left us with one gift, one memory: Gathii born of the Burdened Traveler."
His origin was a mystery. Could his mother really have been a spirit?
That morning, the blistering sun awoke him. Foolish! He had fallen asleep without taking shelter.
He blindly moved around, trying to find the opening. The sun is too bright and hot, the herd perfered the night. Their fluffy coats protected them from the chills that befall a darkened desert. Finally his eyes began to adjust. Where was he? Surely this wasn't the Oasis, and the cave was no where to be found! The herd will be staying in this Oasis a few more nights before moving to the next, find shelter now and guide yourself by the stars when nightfall comes, he thought to himself.
It seemed hopeless. The sun was almost centered in the sky and he had not yet found shelter or water. His reserves were running low, and the cactus were sparse. He remembered the Elder taking the calves out for survival lessons.
"The trick to eating cactus, is to scrape off the prickles." The Elder used the hard part of his toes to gently remove, not only the prickles, but also the tough flesh. Liquid beaded on the exposed surface and the calves licked their lips.
The Elder ate half of the plant, the remainer created a pool which (to Gathii) resembeled the Oasis. "These will be your Oasis on days with no water. But only take what you need, too much at once can be detrimental."
Gathii looked down at his meal, and his eyes grew wide. How could he let himself finish? The entire cactus was gone, except for the base where the roots began. He couldn't control himself, his body was dehydrated and desperately needing sustenance. As he continued along his legs began to feel weak, his vision blurring, and he felt like the ground below him was moving like the rippels on water's surface. Next thing he knew he was on the ground, and could barely make out the figure moving toward him.
