Unpredictable.
Mallow is quite unpredictable. She could be happy one minute, and then sad another. She could be friendly and social one day, and then the next day shy and unsocial. Mallow, when it comes to this sort of thing, is a mystery. Why she is like, well, nobody really knows. But one thing everybody does know is that she is a very unpredictable Rune.
Mallow wrote:It was a nice, warm but not hot day, and Mallow was enjoying the weather by swimming through the water lilies on the top of the pond, which were currently in bloom and had a nice, sweet smell. She sighed happily and flapped her wings, making water droplets go flying. She didn't notice a deer approaching the pond, and so when she flapped her wings some more she splashed it with water by accident. The deer stopped stopped drinking the water and snorted, staring right at Mallow. Mallow dove under the water, and then peeked her head above the water to see the deer trotting away. Her good mood dulled, Mallow swam over to the shallower part of the pond and looked for a wild strawberry, which sometimes grew near the pond. She found one, and ate the few berries that were on it. The berries were a bit sour, but still tasty. She felt better, and then happily began to swim around again.
The next day, Mallow woke up to find it was a cloudy, dark, drizzly day, and she was sad to find that a raccoon that was hunting for crayfish in the pond had broken off one of the water lily flowers and it washed up on shore and was now dry and wilted. She sighed, finding it hard to believe how happy she was the other day. But, of course, that's what an unpredictable Rune like her is like.
Mallow was swimming around the pond when it started to rain harder. She went under the water, peeking her head above the water to take a breath of air every minute. There is really no way to tell what Mallow's mood might be the next day, but one thing is for sure. She is quite an unpredictable Rune.
Friendly and shy.
Mallow is a friendly and shy Rune. When she meets someone new, she might go right up to them and introduce herself, or she might swim to the deepest part of the pond and hide behind the water lilies. If you want to make friends with her but she's being shy, all you have to do is bring her as little basket of wild strawberries and a fish, and she's you're friend and companion for life.
Mallow wrote:Mallow was snacking on a small fish when she herd someone approaching the pond. She quickly swam behind a water lily, and just then a human appeared with something perched on her shoulder... it was a Rune Dragon! This dragon was green with golden eyes, and wore bangles and a red bandana on it's neck and a smaller one on it's tail. Mallow recognized this Rune as the Thistle Rune that lived in the woodlands and sometimes came to the pond to drink and fish for crayfish, but Mallow had never seen the human before. "What a pretty pond!" The human, Lemon, said. Sparrow chirped and flapped her wings, flying down to the pond and bent over the water to take a drink. Mallow decided to greet the Thistle Rune and Lemon. She flapped her wings and appeared from behind the water lily. Sparrow, startled, let out a loud chirp and flew back onto Lemon's shoulder, bobbing her head in alarm. "It's okay, Sparrow, it's just a... a Rune Dragon!" Lemon said excitedly, seeing that that Mallow was a Rune Dragon. "Hi, you pretty Rune." Lemon said, bending down and reaching out her hand toward Mallow as Sparrow flew into a tree and watched. Mallow butted Lemon's hand with her head, and then swam back into the water giggling.
After a little while of watching Mallow swimming around the pond, Lemon and Sparrow left and headed deeper into the woodlands. After a while, Lemon came back with a small basket full of wild strawberries and a fish. Mallow ate the food eagerly, and chirped as she flew onto Lemon's shoulder. Lemon smiled. "You're certainly a friendly Rune." Lemon said. Sparrow, who was perched on Lemon's other shoulder, was wary of Mallow and kept letting out little chirps for no apparent reason. Mallow was chirping because she was excited to have a new friend, and, after Lemon and Sparrow left, She swam around the pond happily.
A thief.
Mallow is not really a thief, but she does have a tendency to "borrow" things from people who leave their stuff by the pond. She will sneak over to the stuff while the person's back is turned, snatch whatever it is quickly in her jaws before vanishing with a giggle back into the pond. People usually never get their stuff back.
Mallow wrote:It was a nice, warm day and Lemon and Sparrow had come to the pond. For the first time, Sparrow actually didn't mind when Mallow came up to her, but flew into a tree when Mallow started to get wanting to play. While trying to get Sparrow to come down from the tree, Lemon dropped the small, shiny stones she had found in the woodlands next to the pond. Mallow, gazing at the shiny stones, quickly snatched them up in her jaws and dropped them under the patch of water grassed and such at the bottom of the pond where she kept all the things she had "borrowed" and collected. Giggling, Mallow swam back to the surface of the pond to find Lemon had finally managed to get Sparrow to come down from the tree, and was looking around for the stones. "Oh well, I can always find some more stones. Let's head back to the woodlands and look for herbs, Sparrow. See you tomorrow, Mallow." Lemon said, then smiled as Mallow jumped out of the water, flapping her wings, and then dove back into the water with a splash.
Later, at the bottom of the pond, Mallow looked over the sparkly stones. They were beautiful, and Mallow was very happy she managed to snatch them. They were pretty small, but that was okay, as most of Mallow's things she had "borrowed" and collected where quite small. She floated on her back on the surface of the pond and sighed, enjoying the relaxing sound of birdsong and chattering squirrels, and a few frogs around the pond were croaking, and Mallow thought that croaking frogs was quite a relaxing sound. She closed her eyes, and soon began to drift off to sleep.
Silly.
Mallow likes to act silly and goof off. She enjoys jumping out of the water and back in again, making a splash and, if Lemon is there, making Lemon laugh. She also loves to be silly and splash Sparrow with water, which can make Sparrow quite annoyed. She also likes to leap out of the water suddenly if someone is walking by the pond, land on their shoulder, and then fly back into the pond.
Mallow wrote:Mallow quietly watched from behind a water lily as a woman came over to the pond and sat down, eating a sandwich. The sandwich looked delicious, and Mallow watched, waiting for the woman to put the sandwich down just for a second so Mallow could grab it. But, unfortunately, the woman quickly finished her sandwich, leaving only a few crumbs of bread behind. Mallow, feeling quite silly and mischievous, Flew out of the pond and landed on the woman's shoulder. The woman jumped and let out a startled gasp, and, while trying to get Mallow of her, another sandwich wrapped in a thin plastic cover dropped out of her purse, and Mallow jumped off the woman and snatched it in her jaws before dragging it behind a patch of cattails. She tore off the the plastic and ate the sandwich, and then went back into the pond.
A little while later, Lemon and Sparrow came to the pond. Mallow greeted Lemon with a chirp, and jumped out of the water and then back in again with a splash. Lemon laughed, and Mallow swam around the pond, splashing her wings and sending water droplets flying. She smiled and though about what she would do the next day.
Helpful.
Mallow loves to help people and animals whenever she can. She once helped a baby raccoon that had fallen into the pond get out, and loves to "help" Lemon when she comes to the pond to draw, look for cattails, herbs, and other stuff like that. When Lemon is drawing, Mallow "helps" by splashing water on Lemon's notebook.
Mallow wrote:Mallow was nibbling on a fish and watching Lemon draw a dragonfly that had landed on a cattail. Sparrow was lazily flying after the annoying black fly that had been bugging her. Mallow giggled and splashed some water on Lemon's notebook. Lemon laughed and brushed the water droplets off of her notebook before going back to drawing. Mallow finished eating the fish and dove under the water. She watched the fish dart and weave through the water lilies, and she did the same. When she poked her head above the water, she saw that Lemon had finished her drawing and was closing her notebook. "Come on, Sparrow and Mallow, lets look for herbs around the pond." Lemon said. Sparrow flapped her wings and flew down onto Lemon's shoulder. Mallow flapped her wings and flew above the pond, watching Lemon and Sparrow search for plants. Then she spotted something. It looked like a herb, so Mallow flew down and landed next to it, and let out a chirp. Lemon came over. "Lemongrass! We can take some home and make lemongrass tea." She said. Sparrow nodded eagerly and helped Lemon pick some of the lemongrass.
After Lemon and Sparrow had left, Mallow decided to try some lemongrass for herself. She tasted it, but didn't find it delicious at all. She splashed back into the pond and caught a small fish, which she ate and then floated on the surface of the pond on her back, watching as the sun set. A crow flew across the sky and cawed, and Mallow giggled before splashing underwater to check on her collection of stones and moss and other stuff.
Sometimes can't sleep.
At times, Mallow just can't fall asleep, so instead floats on her back and gazes at the stars until she eventually drifts asleep. Even if she doesn't sleep the entire night, she usually is still quite energetic and happy the next day. No one really knows why she sometimes can't sleep, but It doesn't effect her at all.
Mallow wrote:It was one of those nights when Mallow just couldn't fall asleep. She didn't mind those nights, just wished that she could fall asleep. Could she not fall asleep because of the noisy cicadas? The occasional croak of a frog? The constant chirp of the crickets? She didn't know. Mallow flapped her wings, making the water ripple and water droplets fly. She closed her eyes and tried to fall asleep, and in fact was starting to drift asleep when she herd a frightened chirp. She opened her eyes and looked around, and then spotted where the chirp had come from. A baby sparrow had fallen out of it's nest in the oak tree and into the pond. Mallow rushed over to the baby bird and took it back up to it's nest, where it quickly settled into the soft moss and down feathers that lines the nest. Mallow smiled and flew back down to the pond, where she again floated on her back and closed her eyes.
Mallow eventually ended up falling to sleep, and when she woke up in the morning was just as happy and energetic as ever even though she barely got any sleep. She was happy she was able to save the bird, and when Lemon and Sparrow came to the pond Mallow was excited to see Lemon had brought Mallow some wild strawberries, which she hungrily ate and then chirped at Lemon, thanking her for the wild strawberries, and then swam around the pond happily.
