My username is CaliDutchess.
{Desired Somnei}
I'm going for Somnei number one.
{Somnei name}
I'd like to name it Angelus.
{Reason for Name}
Angelus means "Angel" in Latin. I like to think of this Somnei as an angel because it's a peacemaker that avoids being seen. It tries to help people by balancing out their nightmares and expects nothing in return.
{Reason for wanting one}
This Somnei is absolutely stunning, and perfect in my mind. I was in love with Trackers, and Somnei are even better. I've also been away from adoptables for a while, and I think Somnei are the perfect start to getting back into them. Everything about the Somnei species is perfect and amazingly well-thought out. The idea is unique, and one of the best that I've ever seen. This particular Somnei is beautiful, and I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more forms for it. Its blue feathers look fantastic with the glowing blue eyes, and the dull colored body makes the blue stand out and look even better.

{What will it be used for?}
I'll use it for anything, really. Once I get an idea for a signature, I'd love to put this Somnei in it. It will definitely have a place in my adoptables thread, and I'm hoping to draw art of it whenever I get some free time. Also, I've been considering writing a story and posting it on CS. If I do, then I'd like to have a Somnei be one of my characters.
{Describe your Somnei}
Stubborn
At times, this Somnei can be quite stubborn. It shows mainly when the Somnei is picking dreams, as it refuses to enter most of them. If it doesn't want to do something, it won't. Very simple, it just won't. When the Somnei does enter a dream, it alters the dream in its own specific way. Some would say its stubbornness is more of being picky that stubborn, but it's both. This Somnei only wants a few specific things, and a few specific things only.
Timid
This Somnei is actually very timid, despite the elegant appearance. It gets nervous sometimes, and is afraid of what people might think of it. Some other factors that play into why it's shy are that it's afraid of doing something wrong and making a dreamer angry. Not wanting to make things worse, it's very cautious in everything it does. When it does warm up to somebody, it still progresses to being more open very slowly.
Gentle
Not having a bad bone in its body, this Somnei is extremely kind. It despises everything evil and strives to prevent it. If it accidentally made a dream worse, then it would probably feel more horrible than the dreamer would. Only entering nightmares and balancing it out, it could never intentionally cause a nightmare. The kindness of this Somnei may be the trait that stands out the most.
Intelligent
Intelligence is something that comes naturally to this Somnei. This can vary from creativity to knowledge. Problem-solving is what it's best at, putting its knowledge and creativity together. Whenever it has a problem, it quickly finds the right way to solve it. Its intelligence is what has made it so successful in turning nightmares into balanced out dreams.
Selfless
This Somnei is extremely caring. Even though it has the chance to enjoy positive dreams, it chooses to fix horrible nightmares that people are having. It's extremely giving and never does something for itself that would harm others. In a way, the Somnei helping people with nightmares would be like a human giving to charity. All the Somnei ever wants to do is help and make people happy.

{Write a short story for your Somnei}
Putting the toothbrush down, I patted my face with a towel. Ready for bed, I left the bathroom and walked into my room. Going through the usual routine, I turned off the TV and dimmed the light. Due to being scared easily and watching too many scary movies, I can never sleep with the light fully off unless light shines through my windows. The room was mostly dark, but had just enough light to the point where I could see if I needed to. Climbing into bed, I fixed my pillows and got under the blankets. With my dog at my side under the blankets, I was ready to sleep. Closing my eyes, I soon drifted off into slumber.
Looking around, I couldn't recognize where I was. It was some kind of city, mainly abandoned. There were lights everywhere and it looked surprisingly clean, but there were only a few people walking through the streets. As I took a closer look at the people, they hid their faces in their coats and hurried away. Soon, I was completely alone. Hearing a steady buzzing sound, I recognized it to be a motorcycle, and it was coming straight towards me. The biker had something unusual about it, but I couldn't tell what. What caught my attention was the sword in it's hand. Turning around, I ran for the nearest building, a somewhat crowded gardening store.
Running through the isles, I turned back to see that the biker was now off his motorcycle and coming after me. Picking up my pace, I sprinted behind a rack of plants and hid. Just when I thought I was safe, a clerk walked over to me. With her hands on her hips, she demanded, "What do you think you're doing?" In a hushed tone, I begged, "Please, let me stay here. Somebody's trying to kill me." The lady shook her head and grabbed me by my arm, then began dragging me out. Looking around, frightened, I made eye contact with the biker. I fought the clerk to get away, but she wouldn't let go. The biker came closer and closer, and was now only a few feet away.
Suddenly, something allowed me to escape from the clerk. I didn't waste any time and I ran. Once I was outside, I turned my head back to see that the biker wasn't following me. He was standing in the store, staring. It was almost like he couldn't move. A voice to my left softly spoke, "Don't be afraid, I'm here to help." Startled, I jumped back as I turned to see who spoke to me. Rather than a human, it was a beautiful creature. It looked almost like a dragon, but there was something different about it. The creature continued, "My name is Angelus, and my job is to turn your nightmares into average dreams. I have been entering and altering your dreams for the past few weeks, and we've spoken two times before. You just couldn't remember. I hope we see each other again soon, it's up to you." Just as soon as it appeared, the creature vanished.
Opening my eyes, I couldn't believe what had just happened. I thought that the dragon thing had to be a part of my dream. However, what it said made perfect sense. Now that I thought about it, I knew why it looked familiar. It had helped me out with the nightmares I had been having lately. I couldn't believe I could forget something as amazing as whatever it was. What confused me, though, was that it said it would be up to me to see each other again. It revealed itself to me, and I could remember, so I figured it meant that I had to choose whether or not to accept it as a companion. There was just something about it that was special, a bond. I decided that I would accept its friendship. Rolling over to my side, I saw the creature.
Unlike the huge creature in my dream, it was small, almost like a cat. The markings were exactly the same,and I wasn't dreaming. Angelus knew I had accepted it, and I couldn't believe it could appear outside my dreams. I asked, "What are you?" It looked like it was smiling as it replied, "I'm a Somnei. I will explain more in the morning. For now, it's time to go back to sleep." Looking at the clock, I saw that it was 2:57 AM. Somnei, I thought. I had no idea what it was, but even the name sounded amazing. Angelus was right, though, and I had to go back to sleep. Nodding, I closed my eyes once again. Feeling more at peace with Angelus by my pillow, I quickly fell back asleep.
