My story isn't so special, but I thought I'd tell it.

When I was about 3 years old, my mom brought me to my grandma's house, and at the time, my mom's youngest sister was living with my grandma. They had a fluffy kitten who ended up coming home with us. I remembered that anytime I'd cry from getting hurt, she would come to me and try to play with me, not to mention bite me to get me to stop crying <.<. A year later she had her first litter. She probably had up to 5 litters until we got her fixed. We moved away when I was halfway through kindergarden. Once in a blue moon, she'd randomly yowl loudly at night downstairs. I believe it's because she misses her mate she had all those kittens with. A couple months ago, she was lost for about a day or two. I was really worried for her, because at the time, she never went outside (but now she goes out everyday to lay in the sun). She ended up being underneath someone's car about 5 houses down. My mom said she looked really lost, despite she was so close to our house, and my mom said it was because she's old, yet she's only 10. This story has no lesson, but I guess a saying would go good with this, "You never know what you have until it's gone."

This is a picture of her (right) with the only kitten we kept, which was from her last litter.

Stories From A Rescue

How can you learn from an animal you barely even know? One that I only knew for a breif bit of time? That I would never be able to keep, but loved any ways? I shall tell you. In these next few stories, you will learn about real animals. Dogs, to be specific. Each one has taught me a different story, and I'm glad to have helped them move on to true homes.

Billy Bob
As I walked in for another adoption clinic that day, a thought struck me. Though, I had never noticed it before, there was a coon hound with only three legs. The other one was nothing but a stump. Upon asking why, I was told this.
He was hit by a car. That dog over there, the paler version of him, is his sister. She stood over him. When someone finally came to help, she was still standing gaurd. He was still trying to clean himself.
And with that, I was dismissed. So, with nothing else I could think to do, I went over to them. The female, a beautiful hound, was the first to come up to me. Followed by her slightly darker brother. Both were quick to investigate me. Including my pockets, which were filled with dog treats. Gentley trying to guide their noses away, I pulled out a treat for each of them.

I have learned so very much from my African Pygmy Hedgehog, I cannot say how thankful I am to have received him. This is his stories.

Mr.Peepers Story
Mr.Peepers is my African Pygmy Hedgehog, though he hasn't always belonged to me. My sister had to give her dog away because she'd gotten one that was much higher energy than she wanted (Which taught me that when I'm older, I need to make sure the dog I get is able to be cared for as I would like). So we began contacting local people that might be willing to take her. We ran across a woman that has many animals used for shows. She was looking for a high energy dog like my sister's, so we gave her to her. It was a hard thing, as we'd all grown quite fond of her, though we knew it was for the best. Later, she came to us and told us that she had a group of hedgehogs that she didn't know what to do with. They'd been born a surprise, on April Fools Day. Best birthday ever, right? Anyways, we decided to take one of them on, so we received a young male named Mr.Peepers, named for the black rings around his eyes. After a while of taking care of him, I learn that we can never replace Rosie, but having a new friend meant a lot. Me and my family bonded with him, and I learned that you need to make sure you can take something on before you follow through with it. I also learned that Mr.Peepers is actually rather understanding, if I've had a rough day, I go to his cage and he comforts me somehow.

I can honestly say I have learned quite a deal about friendship from my dogs. We adopted a Schnauzer mix that a friend of my mother's found wandering around without tags, frightened and soaking wet from a previous rainstorm. He wasn't in very good condition, his skin was all covered in sores which stated he had been out there for a really long time. I felt so horrible every time I saw him even though his condition was not my fault. I knew that taking on a dog in his condition was going to be hard, but I didn't care how hard it was going to be. I just wanted to show him that not all humans are horrible creatures. He coward at first and was afraid of everyone around him. He would whimper and cry when I would try to clean out his wounds. You wouldn't think he was in that kind of condition today if you looked at him. Now, he wants nothing more than to play and romp and is one of the most friendly dogs I have ever owned, and I have owned a few in my lifetime. I feel bad when I leave the house because, while he is very friendly and well mannered when we are home, he likes to chew things up so I have no choice but to put him in a wire dog kennel when we leave the house. We had recently taken on one of my mother's cats, a half Maine coon named Smoke, who my dog, General, would try to play with but Smoke would chase him off. General looked so depressed every time so I set out to find him a friend. While yes, I gave him all the attention I could, I could see that that was not enough. Today, we brought home a Miniature Pinscher named Scooter, given to us by a very nice young man who, sadly due to work, could not give him the attention he needed. It was almost instantaneous, after an exchange of the normal doggy greetings, they began to play, pushing each other around and the like. All day today, they did nothing but run around the house, playing and chasing toys, jumping all over me like two little children wanting the attention they so deserve, all the while, giving the cat not even that much of a glance. Yes, Smoke gets attention too, he has not been left out of the family pack. He gets loved when he wants to be loved, like most cats, he is rather independent. But, this is my story on what I learned from my pets. No matter who/what you are, we all need a friend to bring more light into our worlds.

I have a black cat named Chucky, who has yellow-green eyes. He's a short=legged American Shorthair, who is slightly pudgy. He's about to turn 10 this year, but he still has the look of an adult cat. He doesn't show any signs of aging. ALthough my step-dad is allergic to him, my mom knew it would tear me to bits if we kept him far away from me, and I know he was always anxious when I'm not around or near him. Despit my step-dad's protests, he understood and let me keep my cat.

Chucky has been my constant partner. While he does stay down in a basement, I sometimes go to visit him when I'm feeling stressed, angry, or upset. When my great-grandfather (Whom I've known since I was a baby) died, I was quite upset. I'm not the type of person to break down and bawl my eyes out, but I was a little mopey. A few days after he died, I was laying in my room, watching TV, when I heard a soft meow. I looked at my door; it was Chucky, waving his tail as a greeting. He didn't hesitate to bounce onto my bed, purring and curling into my lap. He looked up at me, and his look said it all; "Don't worry about a thing." It was like he knew that something bad had happened. He didn't purr and rub all over me begging for attention. He didn't meo and lick my face to make me pet him or feed him like he usually does. He just lay in my lap, staring up at me, purring. I smiled and hugged him, and he didn't squirm out of my arms. He let me grasp him.

He made me understand that even though something sad will turn your life upside down, life will go on. He helped me get over the fact that my great grandfather died. I do still miss him terribly, but Chucky helped me get through it. I still enjoy my cat's company, as he has helped with so much. There are other stories about him, but this is one I can't forget.

My pet story isn't so special but hey, he taught me something!
This is my ball python, 8-Ball.

It was my 10th birthday. My dog, Speckles, was my bestest friend. But before my birthday she fell sick. My parents thought she wasn;t going to make it and the vet couldn't help. My parents took me to the pound where they had cats and dogs and puppies and kittens. I was looking at the cats when I noticed a glass cage. It housed a little snake, I wanted him. I took him home. Speckles ended up getting better(but she passed away last year due to her old age). My snake and my dog both were best friends. I learned that people dont like snakes. A lot of people don't. I also learned, snakes aren't different from other animals. He taught me how to love something not fluffy! ^-^ Thank you 8-Ball!

Some of these stories are so sad and touching... I have short story, because english is not my native language and I can tell this better in my native, czech, language. Sorry.

Lussy
When I was about 6 years old, we moved to my mother's friend's house. He had one small dog. It was mixed breed, but she was sooo adorable. First time she bit my finger, so I didn't like her. But then, I loved her. She became my best friend. She always came to our floor and stayed with us for thousands of hours, even that friend was angry then. She always escaped to our apartment. Sometimes she just quietly sat in front of our doors and when we randomly opened them, she jumped in. It was so nice to see, how happy is she with us. Her owner seems not to care about her so much. We took care of her insted. I walked her, I took her everywhere. Every time I arrived from school, she was so happy!

Then that friend decided to buy another dog for no specific reason. It was another female dog, purebreed. She was quite big, twice and half bigger than Lussy. I liked her, she was that kind of dog - happy, hyperactive. But I already had Lussy, so our chain wasn't so strong. One day I arrived from school, about year later, and I found blood splashes on ground. I followed them, quite scared and found Lussy with bitten ear. I called mom and we took care of her ear. The blood was everywhere in the bathroom. I was so afraid. Lady (that new dog) probably bit her ear. I was very mad on her, but I didn't yell on her.

Another year or two passed with no problems and then, when I came home, I didn't see Lussy anywhere in the garden. Just Lady was there. I went to our apartment to ask my mum. Lussy was there. But there was something strange, not natural. She was lying in my favourite blanket. It was also her favourite. My mom told me that she can barely move. I was shocked. She told me, that they found her not moving in the garden, someone probably broke her back. Her back legs were like dead. She looked so sad and painfull. It was so cruel to look on her. I was really upset and I tried to help my mother with taking care of her. We had to help her eat, drink and everything. This time, it was totally different dog. Not that happy, always smiling and active dog. But she still had that loving look in her eyes. It was little bit "funny" that we took care about her 24 hours/day insted of her owner. But it was no problem for us. I tried to be with her most of my time, but I had to go to school of course.

But we had to take her to the vet. It was necessary. She was feeling worse and worse. They hospitalized her. She had so many tubes and they didn't let me see her. I lived just from informations from my mum. I believed she'll get better. I believed that doctors. I was so naive.
One day, I was on my way for my lunch after school. But our car was waiting for me. I saw my mother's and her friend's face. It was empty, trying to cover all feelings. I knew that something bad must happened. My mum opened doors and shouted on me "Get in the car, today you'll not have lunch, sorry. We must tell you something." On a little while, I believed, that Lussy is alright and we're going to celebrate. I was just a child. But then they told me, that it's over. Doctors told them, that they can't help her and killing her would be the best way. She was suffering. I carried pokerface on my face, because I hate crying on public places. When we arrived at home, I walked up the stairs, then like a dead person I fell on couch and cried so much. I was screaming "why her? God, why did you take her? She was so happy with us!" and so on... I even shouted on my mother. I could't stop it. Then I remembered my blanket. "Where it is?" i asked. Mother told me, that she died with it. I was okay with fact, that she will keep it forever. She ment so much to me. I've been sad really long time...

We were looking for that bastard who did this to her, but we never found the true... It was impossible to happen without someone's help. She teached me, how much someone can return you your love and care, in every situation.

Thank you~

We had this adorable cat called Panthera! She was a sleek black queen with a white paw. She used to get into trouble with the neighbours! Often she would sneak out and steal food. But the thing is, she wasn't micro-chipped and she went missing! So we went to find her! She had went missing for days when we found out something tht upset us! A neighbour said that she had been hit by a car and was at the vet. We were devestated. So we rushed to the vet to check up on her. The vet told us that if she didn't perk up then they might want to look at getting a new cat! We went home and looked at every cat breeder but I didn't want a new cat! I wanted Panthera back! So I spent the next few days crying. I was only about 7 so I got to stay off school! We got a call from a specific breeder. She said that she was Pantera's breeder and that if she dies then we could look into getting a cat off her. So we went to the vet to check on her and they told us thatshe had ran away the night before! They told us tht she would die without medicine. They checked the CCTV for us and saw that she had run away an hour after the vet closed. They told us that they were sorry but we should just go find new cat. So my Mum took me to Panthera's breeder and looked at Panthera's litter mates. They told us that we could take home a little kitten that Panthera's twin sister had given birth to. We decided on a cute black cat with a hite nose and one blue eye and one green one. But hen we got home she got frightened and got trapped under my bed! So we got her out and a few weeks later a burgalar broke into my home and stole her! So we went out for a walk in the park and guess who we found sitting on the swing! Panthera was sat on the swing so we took her home.

The lesson I learned was that you should learn to leave your windows closed if you have a cat which hasn't been micro-chipped! I hope no-one else has to face this! I have lots of stories so if you want to hear more then I will post more on at times!
The Prophecy wrote:There will be three cats, kin of your kin, with the power of stars in their paws. They will find a fourth, and the battle between light and dark will be won. A new leader will rise from the shadows of his death, and the Clans will survive beyond memories of his memories. This is how it has always been, and how it will always be.
